Kirk Hammett has mentioned the upcoming Metallica album, saying he hopes it can “lower via the division” on the planet.

The band have been engaged on their new album throughout the coronavirus pandemic, with James Hetfield confirming that the band wrote 10 songs collectively over Zoom in quarantine.

In a brand new interview with Metal Hammer, Hammett mentioned his hopes for the following document, saying it comes with a hope for unity.

“Metallica has at all times been about bringing individuals collectively via music,” he stated. “I believe the sentiment now could be that individuals want music greater than ever to convey everybody collectively and collectively rejoice that we’ve received thus far.

“There’s a variety of division on the planet, and hopefully this Metallica album will lower via the division and convey individuals collectively in methods which can be extra helpful for everybody over all…”

Of their time in quarantine, Hammett added: “We’ve tried to take advantage of the Covid year-and-a-half, and we’ve been fairly profitable. We’ve received collectively remotely and labored, and we’ve received collectively [properly] and labored.

“Issues are shifting rather well. I’d say that the music we’re arising with may be very applicable for the instances.

“Music ought to convey everybody collectively, it ought to be a celebration. That’s what music is about. It’s not about promoting albums or getting Grammys, it’s about placing out good music and serving to the scenario with that music.”

In January, drummer Lars Ulrich admitted that Metallica are solely making “glacial” progress with their new album, suggesting that the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Hardwired…To Self-Destruct‘ received’t see the sunshine of day for a while.

Final November he stated that he and his bandmates had been engaged in some “fairly critical writing” classes for the album, promising the next month that the forthcoming LP could be one of the best document that Metallica have ever made.
