Chic’s Bud Gaugh says he had a hand in Travis Barker becoming a member of Blink-182

Chic’s Bud Gaugh has claimed that he had a small hand in Travis Barker becoming a member of Blink-182.
Barker joined the band in 1998, after they fired founding drummer Scott Raynor halfway by means of their summer time tour in assist of second album ‘Dude Ranch’. In line with Gaugh, he foresaw the transfer and put the concept in Barker’s head.
Talking in a brand new interview to have fun the twenty fifth anniversary of Chic’s self-titled debut album, Chic drummer Gaugh shared “somewhat again story on Travis”, who’s engaged on a remix model of ‘Chic’.
“We had been out on this SnoCore Tour as Lengthy Seaside Dub All-Stars. And we had been enjoying with Blink-182, and this band The Aquabats from Utah,” Gaugh advised Consequence Of Sound. “And Travis was really enjoying drums for The Aquabats. And [street artist] Opie [Ortiz] and I had been sitting there on the facet of the stage watching The Aquabats play, and Travis was simply ripping. It’s like, ‘Dude, this man’s an ideal drummer,’ ?”
Gaugh mentioned he and Ortiz had been so impressed with Barker’s drumming that when he received off stage, they approached him. “We had been like, ‘Dude, you need to kick that man off the drums over there for Blink,’” Gaugh joked. “It’s like, ‘You’re a approach higher drummer than him. And , Blink may go somewhat bit farther than The Aquabats do, so if I used to be you…’ And so we kinda gave him that nudge I suppose.”
In the meantime, Tom DeLonge has revealed that he’s had conversations with Travis Barker about reuniting their side-project Field Automotive Racer.
The previous and present Blink-182 members launched the side-project within the early 2000s, with the band releasing a sole, self-titled studio album in 2002.
