Songwriters Could Get a 32% Improve In Mechanical Royalties for Downloads and Bodily Merchandise – EDM.com

The Copyright Royalty Board has reportedly been requested by main rights holders and publishers to extend mechanical royalties for bodily merchandise by 32%.

This enhance would increase the mechanical royalty charge from 9.1 cents to 12 cents per monitor for bodily merchandise (CDs, vinyl), downloads, ringtone, and music bundles, per Variety. The 9.1 cents charge was set again in 2008 firstly of the Phono IV course of, which includes royalties for each bodily and digital codecs.
