In honor of two full decades of Benny Benassi‘s iconic classic “Satisfaction,” David Guetta was tasked with modernizing the 2002 single over this past summer. And shortly after its debut at The Brooklyn Mirage in May, a further update of that 20-year anniversary rework begun floating around tracklists, with it belonging to who else but Hardwell and Maddix. And that duo is officially opening the new year with their own awaited adaptation of Guetta’s “Satisfaction” update.
Not only is the remix Hardwell’s first release since the five-part expansion of Rebels Never Die—Dancing Astronaut‘s 2022 Album of the Year—in mid-December, the “Satisfaction” rework also serves as his first collaborative effort since his pre-sabbatical work. And who better to erase that gap than Maddix, with the two consummating a collaborative trilogy following both “Bella Ciao” and “Smash This Beat.” Considering both of them have been unendingly commanding the bigroom-techno space throughout the previous calendar, Hardwell and Maddix knew their evolved approaches would match up effortlessly, giving Guetta’s version an uptempo boost and doing further justice to a storied dance music classic.
