Watch Excision's Insane, Star Wars-Themed Laser Lightsaber Intro at Thunderdome 2023
Who knew Emperor Palpatine would make an appearance at The Thunderdome?
The force is strong with this one.
This weekend, Excision and his army of headbangers descended on the Tacoma Dome for another edition of The Thunderdome. When you think of Excision’s shows, your mind probably goes to visuals of prehistoric creatures and locales, thanks to his annual Lost Lands festival.
But that was not the case on Friday night, Excision set his sights on a galaxy far, far away with the debut of a new Star Wars-themed introduction. His set began with a shot of Emperor Palpatine taunting the crowd before a stupefying array of blue lasers blitzed the crowd. Representing the Jedi’s signature blue lightsabers, they sliced through the air with the distinct sound effects from the iconic film franchise.
Darth Vader then appears and red laser beams cut through the opposite side of the stage. They then began to dance over the crowd and crash into each other, simulating a giant lightsaber battle in the air. The lasers then give way to the sight of an X-wing approaching a sith fleet as Excision officially kicked off his Thunderdome set with a monstrous dubstep drop.
