New Research Shows Highest-Earning EDM Song In Every Country

Music by Avicii, Tiësto and more appears in the study, which showcases the highest-earning dance tracks in each country.
New research conducted by the financial services company NetCredit illustrates the highest-earning electronic dance music songs in each country.
According to NetCredit’s study, their dataset is based on the assumption that each stream will net the standard rate of roughly $0.005 in revenue per play.
The Chainsmokers landed twice on the list of top global hits, including for the top-selling electronic track in any country. 2016’s “Closer,” a chart-topping collaboration with Halsey, generated over $2 million of streaming revenue in the U.S. alone. The presence of “Something Just Like This” makes the superstar duo the only act to appear with multiple songs.
The global data illuminates a slate of clearly dominant singles. From Tiësto’s “The Business” to PNAU’s “Cold Heart” remix for Elton John, most of the winning tracks were released in recent years, a testament to the worldwide proliferation of streaming globally in the last decade.
Imanbek’s hit remix of SAINt JHN’s “Roses” is another track making a global impact, percolating to the top spot in 14 countries. Meanwhile, Avicii’s generational dance anthem “Wake Me Up” raked in over $650,000 in his home country of Sweden.
