Electric Forest Announces Additional Security Reinforcements Following Tragedy at the Gorge

Following the tragic shooting incident at last weekend’s Beyond Wonderland festival at the Gorge Amphitheatre, which killed two and injured at least three, the organizers of Electric Forest are stepping up security efforts to ensure a safe experience for fans.
Electric Forest and Beyond Wonderland share a parent company in Insomniac Events, who have been planning the Rothbury-based festival in tandem with local and state law enforcement throughout the year. A combination of large-scale event security professionals, Michigan State Police and local law enforcement will be on the ground throughout the weekend, according to a statement shared on Electric Forest’s social media.
The statement elaborates that the enhanced security measures will include a specialized K9 unit. “These highly trained dogs and their skilled handlers have undergone rigorous training in firearm detection amidst a large crowd and in challenging environmental conditions,” the post reads.
Electric Forest is scheduled to take place June 22-25, 2023. Should any suspicious behavior be observed at the Double JJ Ranch, organizers have encouraged witnesses to contact a member of the festival’s onsite security team.
