OOTORO pays homage to Indonesian roots with STMPD RCRDS return, ‘Telefon’ – Dancing Astronaut

OOTORO‘s return to STMPD RCRDS had been a long time coming. After being recruited by Martin Garrix’s label not once, not twice, but three times in 2021—on “Beat Like This,” “Breaking Away,” and “Manic“—the former Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch is finally back on STMPD RCRDS after a year and a half. And that came in the form of “something special”—as STMPD RCRDS described it—with OOTORO following up his Illegal Mixtape Vol. 4 showing with “Telefon.”
“Telefon” had actually been four years in the making, with OOTORO coming across an Indonesian vocal from a Erramono Soekarjo release that he immediately knew deserved to be reimagined. Fast forward to present day, that idea has been officially realized. And OOTORO was able to simultaneously pay homage to his Indonesian heritage while re-employing the original track with his own unequaled brand of inspired tech-house, making for a welcome return back to STMPD RCRDS.
