Chicago Home Music Legend Sues Kanye West Over Alleged Copyright Infringement – EDM.com

Legendary home music artist Marshall Jefferson has launched a lawsuit towards Kanye West on the premise of alleged copyright infringement.
The grievance, filed in New York’s U.S. District Courtroom, alleges West sampled Jefferson’s 1986 track “Transfer Your Physique” with out licensed permission. After producing underneath the alias Virgo, it was the primary monitor of Jefferson’s profession he had launched underneath his personal identify.
Billboard studies the lawsuit claims West sampled Jefferson’s track 22 instances in “Flowers,” a single from his eleventh studio album, Donda 2, which launched in February 2022. The lawsuit notes that West earned a reported $2.2 million in bodily Stem Participant gross sales alone simply in the future following the album’s launch.
