On June 6 in Toronto, Canada, KAYTRANADA‘s BUBBA took the title for “Dance Recording of the 12 months” on the 2021 JUNO Awards, outpacing originals from REZZ, So Sus, Frank Walker, and Sophie Simmons and Felix Cartal whereas begging the rhetorical query, “the place higher to be awarded than in your house nation?” Though the Montreal native dropped the undertaking in 2019, BUBBA—which highlights some globally acknowledged collaborators together with Pharrell, Estelle, and GoldLink, amongst others—nonetheless certified for the 2021 JUNOs.
The JUNO victory is an extension of BUBBA‘s winningest legacy; KAYTRA’s lo-fi gem notably swept the “Finest Dance Recording” and “Finest Dance/Digital Album” fields on the 63rd annual Grammy Awards in March.
