Matisse & Sadko, Michel Zitron reunite on STMPD RCRDS for progressive house bliss on ‘Afterglow’ – Dancing Astronaut

Matisse & Sadko and Michel Zitron had struck progressive gold once before. And just over two years removed from “Hold On”—which was also alongside the STMPD RCRDS boss—they knew another meeting was overdue. Introduced in between a slew of IDs during their Tomorrowland mainstage debut in July of 2022, “Afterglow” was originally believed to be an instrumental cut from the Russian brothers. But that speculation stopped on a dime once Martin Garrix welcomed its vocal mix during his 438th edition of The Martin Garrix Show, which just happened to feature Matisse & Sadko’s former “Hold On” collaborator.

Marking Matisse & Sadko’s return home to STMPD RCRDS—their first label release sans Garrix since “Heal Me” from April of 2021—”Afterglow” epitomizes the progressive house euphoria that the genre is rooted on, further leaning into their more matured recipe for it in present day. And while many had already fallen in love with “Afterglow” in just its instrumental state, Zitron unquestionably elevates it to another degree and verifies that the producer and singer-songwriter chemistry on “Hold On” surely wasn’t an accident. See exactly why below.
