Morrissey denies rumours of songs written about James, Geoff Travis and Cathal Smyth

Morrissey has denied a collection of rumours claiming that three of his songs had been written about James, Geoff Travis and Cathal Smyth.

The hearsay mill has been awash with Morrissey claims for years. One such hearsay is how ‘We Hate It When Our Buddies Change into Profitable’, the primary single from his 1992 album ‘Your Arsenal’, was written about ‘Sit Down’ hitmakers James.

James lead singer Tim Sales space even beforehand acknowledged in a 2019 Q Journal interview that the track is in regards to the success James had as a fellow Manchester band.

Morrissey has now debunked all of those claims in a new post titled “Wrong” on his Morrissey Central website.
