Lead singer Frank Kadillac and songwriter/drummer Adrian Morris have made a name for themselves by crafting alt-pop at its most intelligent and deeply catchy. The Juno award winners follow up a string of popular outputs with their latest LP ‘Love Child Baby Dolphin.’ The album plays out like a journey around the globe, tapping influences far and wide to craft a delightfully catchy full length. An exercise in positive energy serves as the glue that holds this nine track LP together realized fully in the album’s title track.
“Love Child Baby Dolphin” features African singer Mthandazo Gatya who delivers his buttery smooth verse in Zulu. “This Is It” has a playful, charming energy and includes a celebratory bridge and 90s nostalgia. “The Other Side of You” has an arena-worthy chorus that also shows off the more introspective and subdued side of Kadillac. On “Mama You’re Always Perfect,” Kadillac gives his mom the ultimate shout-out, gushing about the incredible job she did raising him and his siblings. The album wraps up with “Blue Butterly” a powerful send off from these alt-pop phenoms.
