Brockhampton team up with Danny Brown for new single ‘Buzzcut’

BROCKHAMPTON have collaborated with Danny Brown on a new single, ‘BUZZCUT’.

Brown contributes a full verse, while background vocals are provided by the song’s producer, Jabari Manwa.

‘BUZZCUT’ – whose release marks the first official new music from the hip-hop collective since their fifth studio album ‘GINGER’ in 2019 – dropped alongside a vibrant and eclectic music video, directed by members Kevin Abstract and Dan Streit.

In it, Brockhampton perform ‘BUZZCUT’ against a psychedelic kaleidoscope of surreal action.

Watch it below:

The new single follows Brockhampton’s recent tease of new material in an Instagram video back in January.

Earlier this month, the group then uploaded a fresh 46-second teaser clip called ‘Meet The Roadrunners’, which appears to feature a part of a new rap track.

Abstract then confirmed via his Instagram story that the teaser marks the start of BROCKHAMPTON’s new era, now, thanks to the release of ‘BUZZCUT’, officially known as The Roadrunners.

As well as this, member RZA has also teased BROCKHAMPTON may have a forthcoming collaboration with Wu-Tang Clan in a cryptic video. Sharing a video to YouTube, the rap icon hailed BROCKHAMPTON as “magic”, praising their approach to music.

In 2020, BROCKHAMPTON released a mixtape called ‘Technical Difficulties’, made up of eight songs they’d written in lockdown.

Tomorrowland returns to Alpe d’Huez for the second edition of Tomorrowland Winter in 2022

After a magical first edition in 2019, Tomorrowland will return to the breathtaking French ski resort of Alpe d’Huez for the second edition of Tomorrowland Winter in 2022. The story of Tomorrowland Winter continues from March 19-26, 2022 and the People of Tomorrow will unite again for an adventure of a lifetime filled with snow, music and undiscovered secrets – high up in the beautiful surroundings of the French mountains. Pre-registrations are now open on tomorrowland.com.

The original second edition of Tomorrowland Winter was canceled just before the start in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to organize a festival in Alpe d’Huez in 2021 either, but Tomorrowland is convinced that this will be possible again next winter. After a two-year break, the festival will return to Alpe d’Huez from March 19-26, 2022 to organize the ultimate musical winter sports holiday – gathering the world’s best DJs in the village and on the mountains at its dazzling stages, which Tomorrowland is renowned for all around the world.

As a tribute to this year’s Tomorrowland Winter, which cannot take place due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Tomorrowland will air a 2.5-hour long show with spectacular views of Alpe d’Huez and the surrounding mountains on Thursday March 25 at 8:00 PST. Martin Solveig x Kungs, Klingande and Ofenbach will each deliver an exclusive performance at a stunning altitude of more than 2,100 meters.

Martin Solveig said, “The COVID-19 pandemic made us realize how precious small things are. We’re on top of the world here at Alpe d’Huez and feel very lucky to be part of this. It’s our first time playing a b2b set together, really exciting!”

Stay tuned for the full lineup next year as it comes out!

Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ remixed by Thom Yorke at Japanese fashion show

“F*ck off, we’re tired of it,” famed Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke once famously yelled at fans that had been clamoring to hear “Creep” while performing in Montreal during a tour stop for their third album OK Computer. Released in 1992 and featured on their debut album Pablo Honey, “Creep” became inarguably the band’s biggest radio hit. Fans of Radiohead know that despite the popularity of the song, the band typically loathes to play it because they so hate to have their entire catalog of incredible music defined by one song.

Enter Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER 2020/2021 autumn/winter collection “Creep Very” which became the scene for Thom Yorke’s brooding nine-minute remix of Radiohead’s famed opus. The surprising remix is an entirely different take on the Pablo Honey single. Yorke plays an acoustic guitar throughout, giving the song a more mellow feel than the anthemic electric guitar-laden sound of the original. This naturally allows Yorke’s distinct voice to shine as he sings slow, and sometimes intentionally off-beat, to set a chilling tone to what is already an obviously depressing song lyrically. The remix maintains the haunting crescendo of the original but fans will appreciate the divergent twist Yorke poses in this rendition.

Listen and enjoy the full nine-minute remix below.

Iceage share celebratory visuals for new single ‘Shelter Song’

Danish punks Iceage have shared the latest taste of their forthcoming album ‘Seek Shelter’ in the form of the emotional ‘Shelter Song’.

You can watch a video for the track below, which was directed by longtime collaborator Catherine Pattinama Coleman and is inspired by the relationships between family and friends.

“As a childhood friend of theirs, it was important for me to showcase our friendship and the people we share everyday life with” Coleman said. “So instead of making a video full of symbolism or a staged performance, I wanted to make a private and personal video close to our hearts.

“After a crazy year of COVID-19, the world in flames and structural racism peaking at such an extent, I wanted to create a meaningful piece, especially being a woman of color and fully in my third trimester.

“In the midst of a pandemic it’s important to remember that those of us who are privileged enough to have a roof over our heads, food, security, love and care, is something of great value. Love is not something one should not take for granted.”

Iceage shared details of their forthcoming album last month, along with the second single from the record, ‘Vendetta’.

The nine-track LP is the Danish five-piece’s first in three years following their 2018 record ‘Beyondless’ and it comes out on May 7.

‘Vendetta’ followed their previous comeback single ‘The Holding Hand’, which the band shared earlier in February, and their coronavirus-themed track ‘Lockdown Blues’ which was released last April at the start of the pandemic.

NERO take on Tame Impala’s ‘Disciples’ with second Audius drop

NERO recently broke a two-year silence with the surprise delivery of the veteran UK group’s take on Daft Punk‘s “Emotion” by way of new streamer on the block, Audius. Now, before the tribute to the recently disbanded robots has had any time to cool, NERO is following up with a second remix in as many days, this time offering their spin on Tame Impala‘s “Disciples.”

The original cut was the standout third single from Tame Impala’s beloved 2015 LP Currents, and while NERO has been playing out a similar remix in public outings since 2016, the legendary production outfit updated the fan-favorite remix with some 2021 modifications before uploading it for fans to enjoy.

What’s more—the remix appears to be one in a series of five new remixes from NERO on the way. With “Emotion” and “Disciples” reworks now out in the light of day, social media posts from the group indicate that three more remixes are on the way. Furthermore, the posts are also tagged with #WelcomeRealityX, seemingly alluding to the fact that we are approaching the 10-year anniversary of NERO’s groundbreaking debut album later this summer, and even more previously unheard material from the venerated UK producers is likely underway.
