Boy George to release new music and art as NFT


Boy George is the latest artist to release work as non-fungible tokens (NFT), with exclusive music and visual art on its way.

The musician has signed a deal with cryptocurrency trading site Crypto.com to produce content for their new NFT platform.

“I think life turned me into art,” Boy George said of the deal. “My role models were both artistic types and hard working types. I’ve painted myself and others. I have painted myself into a corner. I love metaphors and mystery and crypto sound like klepto so that makes me a crypto maniac.

“Art is like a partner? Can you live with it? Digital art is a new emotion and it can be very musical. I’m mixing all of the things I do together, music, art, fashion, poetry and anything else it leads to. I have stopped refusing to be influenced.”

Other artists to join Crypto.com’s initiative include Snoop Dogg, viral sea shanty singer Nathan Evans, and Lionel Richie.

NFTs have quickly become a presence in the music industry and beyond in recent weeks. Earlier this month, Kings Of Leon released their new album ‘When You See Yourself’ as NFTs.

Other artists getting involved include Grimes, who recently auctioned off 10 exclusive pieces of NFT crypto art – dubbed WarNymph Collection Vol.1 – over a 48-hour period, and Halsey.

Last week, Aphex Twin sold a piece, titled afx/weirdcoreblockscanner, as an NFT for £90,000, and pledged to spend some of the money on offsetting the carbon footprint of the deal.

Jauz Finally Drops Long-Awaited Remix of Post Malone’s “Hollywood’s Bleeding” [LISTEN]


Over the weekend, Jauz finally unleashed his highly-anticipated remix for Post Malone‘s deep cut “Hollywood’s Bleeding.”

Jauz starts off in a soft, melodic space as Malone’s reverberant vocals move the track forward. The production builds excitement with expert synth risers, ultimately dropping into an arrangement met with massive growls, snappy percussion, and tasteful wubs.

“YOU ASKED AND SO YOU SHALL RECEIVE,” Jauz shares via Twitter.

In 2020, Swole Sauce struck a match with his independent debut, “Colors.” With each successive single, the Queens-born experimentalist has thrown gasoline on the fire, and as “I Can Feel” further fans the flames, you can rest assured that Swole Sauce is still only just heating up.

After closing out the past year with a bass house-influenced spin on Kiani Alexandra’s “All Talk,” the New York native threw open the doors to another 365-day stretch of new music with his take on Martyska and Iva Rii’s “Alive.” After two consecutive remixes, it’s high time for another Swole Sauce original, and that’s precisely what his following is getting.

True to the early tradition that Swole Sauce instilled with “Colors,” listeners’ jaws will expectedly be on the floor by the time that the final second in “I Can Feel’s” runtime ticks down. The Trap N Chill-disseminated number euphorically intertwines elements of future bass and trap in a nearly three-minute rush that evokes RL Grime as it simultaneously puts Swole Sauce’s own sensibilities on full display. The arresting new showing arrives via Trap N Chill on March 25, but can be streamed in full below one day early, only on Dancing Astronaut.

Porridge Radio share ‘Every Bad’ expanded edition with Dream Wife remix


Dream Wife have remixed Porridge Radio‘s ‘Don’t Ask Me Twice’ – listen below.

The swirling new remix, which puts a psychedelic spin on the song, is taken from a new expanded version of Porridge Radio’s 2020 album ‘Every Bad’, which also features re-workings of tracks on the album from NNAMDÏ, Clarence Clarity and more.

Porridge Radio’s second album ‘Every Bad’, which came out in March last year, was nominated for the 2020 Mercury Prize.

In a five-star review of the album, NME wrote: “Here Porridge Radio nail some of music’s hardest tricks – breathing fresh life into indie and making a record that can loosely be compared to other bands in fragments, but also feels entirely their own.

“‘Every Bad’ is a breathtaking step up from their bedroom-recorded 2016 debut, ‘Rice, Pasta And Other Fillers’. No wonder they’ve declared themselves the ‘best band in the world’.”

Since the album’s release, the band have shared a host of new music, including recent singles ‘7 Seconds’ and ‘Good For You’ (a collaboration with Chicago’s Lala Lala), festive song ‘The Last Time I Saw You (O Christmas)’ and two new collaborative tracks with Irish songwriter Piglet.

Dream Wife, meanwhile, followed up their self-titled debut album last year with second record ‘So When You Gonna…’. They will take album two on a UK tour in 2022.

Cosmic Gate announce ‘MOSAIIK’ LP with project’s lead single, ‘Blame’ – Dancing Astronaut

Cosmic Gate have announced their 11th studio album MOSAIIK with the forthcoming long-form’s lead single, “Blame” featuring Diana Miro. With a career spanning more than two decades, the veteran trance duo simultaneously first announced MOSAIIK and premiered “Blame” during their Miami Open Skies set in South Beach. Dutch singer-songwriter Miro contextualized how the collaboration came about, stating,

“I wrote this song when one of my friends was struggling with plans—again—not coming to life. It’s a sad situation, but I always ask myself, ‘do we really need what we want, as nowadays others influence most of our desires?’ We endlessly spin in this social media ‘mill’ and it’s so hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. At least music always stays true to us. I’m so happy this song has landed with Cosmic Gate. They’ve produced an amazing deep sound that truly reflects the mood of our times. I can’t wait to share it with the world!”

“Blame” is the Grammy-nominated pair’s first release of the year and takes an introspective approach to deep, progressive stylings blended with the cinematic soundscapes to which trance fans have been long accustomed. MOSAIIK is set to release early this summer and will be the duo’s first album since 2017’s Materia Chapter.One.

The Great Escape announce first 68 acts for virtual 2021 festival


The Great Escape has announced the first 68 artists for its virtual edition – check out the line-up so far below.

The Brighton-based new music festival announced last month that it had cancelled its traditional in-person event for 2021, with a virtual festival taking its place.

The event was aiming to return this year after its 2020 edition was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, but ongoing restrictions mean the 2021 festival will now be unable to take place in its usual guise. Dates of May 11-14 were also announced for the return of the full-scale festival in 2022.

This year, from May 13-14, a host of artists will perform virtually, and the first number of acts have been announced now.

Among the 68 acts announced today (March 24) are a host of NME 100 acts for 2021, including PVA, Yard Act and Chubby and The Gang.

Detailing their plans for the virtual festival upon its announcement last month, The Great Escape wrote: “We can now confirm that The Great Escape 2021 will no longer be taking place in Brighton this year, however, we will be taking The Great Escape online for the first time.

“On 13th-14th May 2021 you can expect a huge snapshot of the best new artists showcasing their talents, plus The Great Escape Conference featuring the CMU conference strands, keynote speakers, panels, talks and debates as well as dedicated facilities for the industry to come together and network – just without the sea air and dashing between our beloved venues into the early hours…”

Since the UK government outlined plans for England to gradually exit lockdown by the end of June, a number of festivals including Reading & Leeds have all revealed that they now hope to go ahead as usual in 2021, with other festivals including Parklife and Wireless announcing 2021 dates this week.

Reading & Leeds sold out of tickets just two days after the announcement, and promoter Live Nation sold 170,000 festival tickets in just three days following the news.

10 never-before-heard IDs in one set. That’s just an anomaly even by Ultra‘s standards, and we all know the Miami mainstay to be the birthing grounds for unheard music. Martin Garrix hadn’t entirely inducted his new progressive-laden sound yet by the time that March 2016 crept up, but with “Now That I’ve Found You” alongside John Martin and Michel Zitron opening the doors to STMPD RCRDS just a handful of weeks prior, the newly inaugurated label head wanted to make his first opportunity of to shut down the Miami main stage an immortal feat, one that would eventually find itself in the middle of our wistful sequence of Ultra’s greatest moments a half-decade later.

Martin Garrix’s unbelievable and exponential Ultra ascension follows as this: starting out as an ordinary attendee in the Bayfront Park crowd in 2013, Garrix immediately rose to a daytime mainstage slot at just 17 years old in 2014 to earning Ultra’s coveted Saturday sunset position in 2015, where he delivered his first originals-only set, to being promoted to top-line headliner pedigree in 2016, charged with Friday night closing duties. The progression in just four fleeting years was overtly inconceivable then, and it’s just as astounding reading it back right now.

It took more than two months of studio preparation, as well as the formation of a entirely novel live show from the ground up, all thanks to the gifted production team that Garrix specifically brought on for the occasion, commanded by none other than Gabe Fraboni. Everyone knew the moment that the “Lions In the Wild” opening struck that Garrix was about to do something special, and he did.

From minute one to minute 57, he pieced together a priceless tracklist that should be eternally framed, strolling through a never-to-be-released VIP version of “Rewind Repeat It” with Ed Sheeran, a bank of IDs that would eventually line up as his Seven EP, a surprise introduction into what would become AREA21, the revelation of “In The Name Of Love” with Bebe Rexha, and ultimately, the aforementioned STMPD RCRDS genesis as the performance’s firework-filled grand finale. If you’re still following along with this candidly over-the-top ovation to the height of Martin Garrix’s DJing timeline, you’re most likely in agreement with all of the above and we genuinely hope you enjoy rewatching this hour of uninterrupted Ultra 2016 bliss.
