[UPDATE] Insomniac: EDC 2021 Continues To Be Planned For Scheduled Dates

Though vaccinations in the US are advancing more rapidly than initially suspected, a lot of events will still have to wait a while longer before they’re able to hold shows at 100% capacity. The same could apply to Electric Daisy Carnival which was originally scheduled to occur this coming May in Las Vegas, though rumors suggested it will be pushed back to October as was originally planned in 2020, as well.

According to a report from Vital Vegas, a source “confirmed” that vendors were being told the festival is being pushed back until later this year.

After reaching out to Insomniac to comment on the report, they called the initial report “false.”

Representatives for Insomniac had the following statement regarding the rumor, “We’re continuing to plan EDC Las Vegas for its scheduled dates. We’re in close communication with local officials, and there continues to be new developments. If things change, however, we have backup dates in place. We’ll let everyone know soon.”

Crystal Skies, JT Roach call in Lost In Dreams entry, ‘Crazy While We’re Young’

Crystal Skies and JT Roach have released their latest single “Crazy While We’re Young” on Insomniac‘s brand new label, Lost In Dreams. Deviating from the duo’s usual melodic bass sound, the track merges pop and future bass worlds for a crossover collaboration. Speaking on the release and working with the winner of NBC’s show Songland, the duo shared,

“Working with JT, a phenomenal vocalist and songwriter has been a great experience for us. We really tried to preserve the raw emotion of the instrumental and vocals- while filling out the production and adding a powerful drop section – and making this something that could move the dance floor. The result is a song that bridges together the genres of folk, pop, and electronic into one track that hopefully lets each style shine through without overpowering the others. ‘Crazy While We’re Young’ is definitely a departure from our typical sound, but we were captivated by the vocals/instrumentals from the first listen and knew we had to work on it. The lyrics really fit with the vibe we were going for—a Summertime anthem about the excitement and challenges that come with taking chances and not settling for the ‘safe path.’”

“Crazy While We’re Young” marks Lost In Dreams’ sophomore release following Kaivon and Nevve’s label-inaugurating single “Whole Life” in February. The radio-friendly single brings together catchy guitar, future bass rhythms, and heartwarming vocals for a singer-songwriter-centric production approach to dance music.

Basside announce new EP, ‘Fuck It Up’, produced by SOPHIE

Miami bass duo Basside have announced a new EP, ‘Fuck It Up’, produced entirely by the late pop icon SOPHIE.

The EP will be released on April 2 through Sorry. Coinciding with the EP announcement, Basside have also shared the title track from the record, which contains percussive elements similar to that found throughout SOPHIE’s work.

Listen to the title track for ‘Fuck It Up’ below:

The record will also include SOPHIE’s remix of Basside’s track ‘NYC2MIA’, which was released in February. Proceeds from the remix are being directed to the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, with $650 collected so far.

In the EP’s liner notes on Bandcamp, it explains that SOPHIE invited the pair – made up of Que Linda and Caro Loka – back to her studio after seeing them perform at Miami’s iii Points Festival in 2016.

“In line with her watershed production on Charli XCX’s ‘Vroom Vroom EP’ which was released shortly before these sessions, SOPHIE’s work on ‘Fuck It Up EP’ provides a beautiful snapshot at a fruitful yet transitionary time for the massively influential producer in between her debut singles collection ‘PRODUCT’ and the brave new world to come with her full-length ‘Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides’,” the description read.

SOPHIE died in late January, aged 34, after falling from a balcony in Athens while trying to watch the moon. The producer’s death evoked a significant wave of tributes from the wider artist community.

Coachella reportedly rescheduling to April 2022 – Dancing Astronaut Coachella reportedly rescheduling to April 2022

The next iteration of Coachella will be held in April of 2022, according to insight from “two industry sources with knowledge of the situation,” Variety reports. Notably, representatives for Goldenvoice (Coachella’s promoter) and AEG Presents (its parent company) either declined to respond or did not reply to Variety‘s requests for comment. If the Indio Valley affair is indeed making the move to April 2022, Stagecoach, which traditionally takes place the weekend after Coachella, will likely follow suit, Variety reports. At present, Coachella organizers have not responded to the claim that the festival will be postponed to 2022.

In January, Coachella officials announced that the event’s April 2021 dates—April 9 – 11 and 16 – 18—were cancelled, marking the third time in less than one year that the festival was forced to postpone due to COVID-19-related health concerns. Speculation swirled that Coachella would push its 2021 installment to October, though no Coachella affiliates confirmed the supposed plan for a fall relocation.

H.E.R. says she’s planning to go “full throttle” with acting ambitions

H.E.R. says she plans to go “full throttle” with her ambitions to become an actor.

The singer won two Grammys this week, as well as bagging an Oscar nomination for  ‘Fight For You’, her Golden Globe-nominated contribution to Judas and the Black Messiah.

Alongside her blossoming music career, H.E.R. recently appeared in her debut film role, appearing alongside Jennifer Garner in new comedy Yes Day.

“I’ve been so focused on making music but I think it’s time now for me to go full throttle with acting,” she told Entertainment Weekly of her immediate plans. “I’m working on that right now, following my passion for acting.”

Speaking of working with Garner on Yes Day, she added: “[Garner] was so sweet and so much fun. We got to improvise a little bit. It really was just such a fun environment.

“She told me she loves my music, which is really cool. Plus, my band got to be a part of it with me, which was so dope. It was such a surreal experience for me.”

Elsewhere, H.E.R. was reportedly been hit with a $3 million (£2.17 million) copyright infringement lawsuit for her 2016 single ‘Focus’, days after she performed at the 2021 Super Bowl.

The singer, real name Gabriella Wilson, is being sued by songwriter and pianist Andre Sims, who has also filed suit against co-producer Darhyl ‘DJ’ Camper, co-writer Justin Love and Sony Music Entertainment for allegedly sampling his track ‘Endless Minds’ without compensation.
