Dillon Francis Reveals He’s Got A Collab With ILLENIUM, Done By September

ILLENIUM collaborates with a lot of people, but it’s usually a lot of the same people: Said The Sky, Annika Wells, Daya, Echos, etc. But it’s not often that he collaborates with other producers, except in rare cases outside his own circle (like Dabin, Said The Sky, and Blanke). However, yesterday, Dillon Francis revealed that he and ILLENIUM have a collaboration together and we can’t even begin to imagine what it might sound like.

“Time to finish our collab for life is beautiful!” Dillon writes in a text to ILLENIUM, to which he responds simply, “YEEEEEETTTTT.”

Dillon can be a bit of a chameleon in the studio, as we’ve heard him produce pretty much anything and everything from dubstep to house to pop to trap to moombah. ILLENIUM typically goes in a more melodic bass direction but with Dillon along for the ride, there’s a good chance this could be an absolute banger or a fun, uptempo house track, or something completely different.

Stay tuned for any clips or teasers either of the producers might share in the coming months. Life Is Beautiful is scheduled for September in Las Vegas. You can see the full lineup here.

Diplo initiates house work on Mat.Joe-powered single, ‘Conga Rock’

While simultaneously appearing in a myriad of lineups for the latest wave of 2021 festival announcements, Diplo has followed his standard workhorse antics with a string of releases. This includes his recent collaboration with Black Coffee and Elderbrook on “Subconsciously,” his contribution on Major Lazer‘s “Diplomatico,” and the first Silk City release since 2019, which he showcased recently in a Tesla-powered recreation.

Now, he’s giving the world “Conga Rock,” teaming up with Berlin-based house and hip-hop duo Mat.Joe for a euphoric dance track to, hopefully, carry us right into festival season. The composition is a house track in its own right, but layers over some tribal-sounding chant samples and steady “conga” percussion, adding in melodic, bright piano chords.

With an optimistic and safe return to live events pending, the multi-faceted producer has been confirmed for Elements Music and Arts festival, Insomniac‘s Abduction 2021, and more.

Damon Albarn, Skepta and more to appear on Tony Allen’s final studio album

The final studio album from the late, great Tony Allen has been announced – get all the details below.

Tributes poured in from across the world when Allen, who drummed for Fela Kuti, The Good, The Bad & The Queen and many more across a distinguished career, died aged 79 last year.

‘There Is No End’ will be released on April 30 on Decca France, and a first single – co-written by Damon Albarn and featuring Skepta and Nigerian poet Ben Okri – has been released today (March 12).

“Recording ‘Cosmosis’ was the last time I hung out with Tony,” Albarn said in a statement. “A fantastic night was had by all.”

Listen to ‘Cosmosis’ below.

Okri added: “We were in the studio with Damon Albarn and Remi Kabaka and Tony said, ‘I lay out this universe in which dreams can come forth,’ and then I understood that for him the beat he lays out is like this textual landscape.

“It has a psychic structure or DNA of a universe of music for which Tony had worked out a kind of mathematical basis for it in his elliptical beats, and then an invitation to dream could been given.”

See the artwork and tracklisting for ‘There Is No End’ below.

1. Tony’s Praeludium
2. Stumbling Down (Featuring Sampa The Great)
3. Crushed Grapes (Featuring Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon)
4. Très magnifique (Featuring Tsunami)
5. Mau Mau (Featuring Nah Eeto)
6. Coonta Kinte (Featuring Zelooperz)
7. Rich Black (Featuring Koreatown Oddity)
8. One Inna Million (Featuring Lava La Rue)
9. Gang On Holiday (Em I Go We?) (Featuring Jeremiah Jae)
10. Deer In Headlights (Featuring Danny Brown)
11. Hurt Your Soul (Featuring Nate Bone)
12. My Own (Featuring Marlowe)
13. Cosmosis (Featuring Ben Okri + Skepta)
14. There’s No End

Following Allen’s death, Damon Albarn performed a tribute to the late star at the virtual AIM Awards last year.

The performance came as the awards posthumously honoured Allen with the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award, and saw some of his friends and collaborators come together for a special performance.

An NME obituary for Allen wrote of the late musician: “To rock the world takes only a couple of pedals and a power chord; to make it skip and swing takes the skill and talent to straddle an entire continent. It takes a talent like that of Tony Allen, whose light, uplifting and syncopated rhythms so widely influenced global music.”

Bardz & Dan Turley Reveal Single “Save Myself” Off Forthcoming EP

Southern California-born BARDZ has teamed up with rising vocalist Dan Turley for a dynamic EP called ‘Burn Bright’ that tracks their trajectories through the entertainment industry. The project’s first single, “Save Myself,” is an emotional slice of electronic catharsis that lays the foundation for a compelling project in its entirety. “Save Myself” seamlessly blends vocal chops, guitar sounds, and sensational melodies to result in an equally spectacular song.

The duo explains this song is about:

the weight of creative burnout affecting your lifestyle; poor choices begin to wear on you, slipping away from the person you used to be. This new lifestyle is changing you for the worse, and you need out. Nobody can help you, so you must save yourself. And with this realization, the story turns, finding the power to do so within yourself.

Watch Mr. Belt & Wezol Perform a House Set While Cycling Through Snowy Roads

Over the past six years, Dutch duo Mr. Belt & Wezol have released extremely entertaining, creative, and often hilarious virtual performances. For instance, they’ve filmed sets while smashing a car into pieces, from inside a hot air balloon, in an alpaca field, in a ball pit, on a pier, in a bowling alley, and so much more. If there’s one thing that distinguishes this tandem from the rest, it’s their ability to give a great show.
