Julian Jordan and Guy Arthur rest on polar ends of STMPD RCRDS in terms of time served, but the respective Dutch and Polish producers have now partnered up for a collaborative effort that’s been in the pipeline for a while. After the latter stamped his sound on the former’s “Love You Better” in 2020, it was only appropriate that the two sanctioned an official meeting of their house veins on Martin Garrix‘s humble abode with “Let Me Be The One.”

The two had been plotting a possible liaison into the new year, but both said that nothing felt particularly fitting until “Let Me Be The One” eventually came about. Stepping outside of his tied-and-true bass house layout, Julian Jordan connects with Guy Arthur’s lightsome tone for the proper touch of future house that superlatively ties together the faculties of both a STMPD RCRDS veteran and a STMPD RCRDS novice.

Listen to Jorja Smith’s stripped-back new single, ‘Addicted’


Jorja Smith has marked her first solo drop of 2021, with the release of her new single and video ‘Addicted’.

The first song Smith has released on her own since last year’s politically charged ‘By Any Means’, ‘Addicted’ is a little more subdued than her recent tracks, putting a spotlight on her sultry voice.

Alongside the song, Smith has also unveiled the video for ‘Addicted’, which she directed alongside Savanah Leaf. The video was shot entirely on webcam, and sees Smith on horseback on the beach, dancing under fireworks and more.

In a press statement, Smith said ‘Addicted’ is about “focusing on wanting the full attention of someone who’s not giving enough (or any) when they should be”.

Speaking about the incredibly DIY music video, she said “the video is multiple versions of me singing the song; having fun dressing up, not trying to be too serious and just giving myself more freedom”.

‘Addicted’ is the first track Smith has led since she teamed up with Popcaan for last year’s ‘Come Over’. She was tapped by Enny to hop on a remix to the former’s ‘Peng Black Girls’.

Earlier this year, Jorja Smith revealed she was helming her own BBC Radio 3 series ‘Tearjerker’, about the healing power of music.

Glastonbury Tributes Pyramid Stage Designer Bill Harkin Following His Death


Glastonbury remembers Bill Harkin, the legend who designed and built the iconic Pyramid Stage. He passed away today, at age 83.

In 1971, the stage concept came to Harkin in a dream. According to BBC, it was built of scaffolding and plastic sheeting and proudly held its ground at Glastonbury for a decade, becoming an integral part of the festival.

Founder Michael Eavis says Harkin lived an “inspirational life” and was “simply loved” by all. He gives a heartfelt statement on Glastonbury’s official website.

Bill was a top-flight architect working for British Leyland at the time but he soon became caught up with the festival, and came up with the very first Pyramid at Worthy Farm

Eavis continues:

His enthusiasm and dedication led to what we have now – thank you so much Bill! In more recent years he was involved with the design of the structures at the Eden Project, first in Cornwall and now across the world.

Pioneering Women of House Music Celebrated in New Coffee Table Book

Music promoter Laila McKenzie and writer Ian “Snowy” Snowball have joined forces for a new hardcover coffee table book titled “Lady Of The House,” the first of its kind to celebrate women in house music. The authors have been hard at work over the last year to bring the project to life and have launched a Kickstarter campaign to release it to the public.

Tomorrowland is considering moving to the end of August – Dancing Astronaut

Tomorrowland wants to ensure that both Tomorrowland Around the World and Tomorrowland New Year’s Eve were one-off occurrences. Following the Belgian festival’s pair of virtual substitutes in the second half of 2020, Tomorrowland is reportedly looking at various alternatives if the event cannot be held on their original dates this summer, including pushing their July weekends to the end of August and beginning of September, according to Belgian outlet Gazet Van Antwerpen.

Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen told the publication that “a shift of the date is possible, a different interpretation of the festival is also possible, with more or fewer stages or acts.”

It was reported last June that Tomorrowland was also considering the possibility of an additional third weekend this year to offset financial costs from their 2020 cancellation, although that idea appears to be unlikely as the clock ticks closer to July. Tomorrowland is currently scheduled to be held across July 16 — 18 as well as July 23 — 25.

Charli XCX says she’s thinking about revisiting her unfinished pre-pandemic music


Charli XCX has said that she’s considering returning to unfinished music she started before the coronavirus pandemic.

The popstar released the record ‘How I’m Feeling Now‘, which was written and recorded entirely during lockdown, as her fourth album in May last year.

That project took the place of what was originally planned to be her next studio album, which she shelved to make room for her lockdown record.

Now, however, Charli says she’s started to consider returning to the music she started pre-lockdown.

“I’m sort of beginning to think about that again,” she told Insider. “There are thoughts that I’m having, and a direction that I’m taking.”

“They take a lot of time to work on ideas,” Charli told Insider of the delay. “And that’s not shady! I think they know that I like to work really very fast, and I think they probably find that a bit psychotic at times.”

Last month, meanwhile, it was revealed that a new documentary that chronicles the making of ‘How I’m Feeling Now’ will premiere next week.

Life can be tough. Life can be ugly. But it’s that pain that makes it all ‘real’, whether that’s pain coming from love, or just the struggles of life in general. Sometimes feeling pain is better than feeling nothing at all. Everything shapes you into who you are — the good and the bad.

Malaa serves a dark recast of Petit Biscuit and Diplo’s ‘Pick Your Battles’ – Dancing Astronaut

No one should even attempt to pinpoint a lone crowning moment from DJ Snake and Malaa‘s sophomore Secret Room stream, but the masked Parisian had everyone paying full attention when he tweeted out “ID ID ID ID ID ID” right as the the back-to-back set crossed its 22-minute mark. Instantly detected as an impending Malaa conversion of Petit Biscuit and Diplo’s Parachute linkup, “Pick Your Battles,” that formally known ID has now been officially realized after only a short-lived waiting period.

Succeeding a first run of Parachute reworks that tapped into the creativity of Jai Wolf, Big Gigantic, and Jerro, Malaa was called up to deposit his impenetrable French house command on an already sublime cut of electronic music, and he stayed on par with his first spin of the year, “Anything.” Holding onto a sliver of the source’s chilling vocals, Malaa retains Petit Biscuit and Diplo’s passional spirit, catalyzing a measure of foreboding bass house that had both him and his Secret Room counterpart unable to stand in place behind the decks.
