Justin Bieber pairs latest ‘Justice’ single with action-packed accompaniment [Watch] – Dancing Astronaut

With his sixth studio album Justice set to arrive on March 19, Justin Bieber has supplied his long-form’s latest single, “Hold On,” with a veritable thriller of a visual. Informed by a good-hearted storyline, Bieber’s in-video narrative trails him—bank robbery, police chase, and all—as he attempts to uphold his lyrical pledge to “be there” for his chronically ill female counterpart.

In the grand schema of Justice, “Hold On” succeeds “Lonely,” “Anyone,” and “Holy,” all of which offered Beliebers a taste of what was—and remains—yet to come on the LP. Of note, Justice will hit streaming platforms just a little over one-year and a month after Changes closed the five-year album gap that opened after Bieber released Purpose in 2015. Changes has been nominated for “Best Pop Vocal Album” at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards, which will be broadcast live from CBS at 8:00 p.m. EST / 5:00 p.m. PST on March 14.

Skullcrusher announces new EP ‘Storm in Summer’


Skullcrusher, the project of Helen Ballentine, has announced a new EP, ‘Storm in Summer’, due out next month.

The five-track EP will arrive on April 9 through Secretly Canadian and also include Skullcrusher’s previously released single ‘Song For Nick Drake’. To coincide with the announcement, Ballentine has released the EP’s title track, along with a music video by Silken Weinberg and Angela Ricciardi.

In a statement, Ballentine explained that she wrote the new single after releasing her last EP.

“Over that summer I thought a lot about what it means to really put myself out there and share something personal. I felt so vulnerable and overwhelmed by the fact that these songs I had written in private were exposed and likely being misinterpreted or disliked,” she said.

“I think the song really tries to communicate these anxieties in a cathartic way while also leaning more into the beauty of relinquishing part of myself.”

Skullcrusher released her debut self-titled EP back in July. In a four-star review from NME, the record was described as “tender campfire folk primed for success in indie’s delicate ecosystem”.

Insomniac Announces New RAVE Event Over Memorial Day Weekend


Insomniac is promoting what appears to be yet another music festival, RAVE.

Live events may be returning sooner than we thought possible, as Insomniac readies dance music fans for this two-day stint over Memorial Day Weekend. Promo for the new concept screams techno RAVE, featuring Maceo Plex‘s Renaissance Remix for “Blade Runner” by Remake.

So far, no specific location has been revealed for RAVE. Following Insomniac’s Abduction announcement and the Insomniac East tag, however — Florida is most likely the move. We expect an official announcement and lineup shortly, being that the festival is already two months out.

Meanwhile, the promoter’s flagship event EDC Las Vegas is currently scheduled for the weekend before and hopeful attendees are eager for updates. Last we heard, the festival was moving forward as planned — but if it gets delayed, Insomniac has other outdoor events on the books.

As we move cautiously into this new era of live events, all eyes and ears are on Insomniac.

Advertised as “a deep dig” into their “record collections,” per The Chemical Brothers‘ own phrasing, Radio Chemical emerges as Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons’ latest endeavor under their shared banner. The programming initiative, exclusive to Sonos Radio HD, formally activated on March 5 with a Chemical Brothers-supplied “Dub Mix.” The British twofer said of the thematic effort,

“The ‘Dub Mix’ channels our love of dub music—where the foundation is drum and bass and the lead instrument is the mixing desk, where a delay feeding back on itself can be as exciting as a heartfelt lyric. A lot of this music pushes the boundaries of what can be done with a multi track and an application of echo ,eq, and phase. It’s a constant inspiration to us of what is possible in the studio and the myriad of ways you can find to interpret a song.”

The “Dub Mix” is the first of many Radio Chemical-commissioned mixes to touch Sonos Radio HD. As listeners await further details on the ensuing talent to be welcomed on Radio Chemical, they can find the “Dub Mix” below and in the Sonos app.

Alice Cooper reveals the one rockstar who calls him by his birthname


Alice Cooper has revealed the identity of the only rockstar calls him by his birthname of Vincent Damon Furnier.

‘Alice Cooper’ was originally the name of a band in which he sung lead vocals. After the band broke up in 1975, he took it on as both his legal name and his stage name for that year’s ‘Welcome To My Nightmare’.

In an interview with The Sun, Cooper revealed: “The only person who calls me Vince is Keith Richards.”

“He’ll say, ‘Vinnie, Vinnie, how long has it been since you had a drink?’ And I’ll reply, ‘More than 30 years’. And he goes, ‘Ah, begs the question, why?’ ”

Cooper, who has been sober for 38 years, also recalled how his days of hedonism led to difficulties separating himself from his stage persona.

“When I was drinking and drugging, I didn’t know if I was supposed to leave the house with make-up on. I felt I was going to disappoint people if I walked out without a snake around my neck,” said Cooper.

He continued: “Alice is my favorite rock star but he stays onstage and I go back up to my normal life. That’s why I can speak about Alice in the third person. Somebody will bring in a costume and I’ll go, ‘No, Alice would never wear that!’”

Last week, meanwhile, Cooper hit back at Gene Simmons after the KISS bassist recently claimed that rock music is “dead”.

“There’s a bunch of 18-year-kids in there with guitars and drums and they’re learning hard rock,” he told NME. “It’s the same with the United States: there’s all these young bands that want to resurge that whole area of hard rock.”

This Happy Hardcore Remix Of “Musician” Has Porter Robinson Absolutely Fanboying


Porter Robinson dropped “Musician,” the final single from Nurture, last Wednesday, and within 24 hours, Synthion already had a happy hardcore edit loaded and ready to go. This isn’t unusual for fellow producers who are fans of major artists to create edits in the hours following a new drop, but this one pretty immediately got a response from Porter himself.

Three days later, and the full edit was complete and garnering Porter’s unabashed praise.

Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak entrance Silk Sonic debut with ‘Leave The Door Open’ [Watch]

The Silk Sonic project has arrived. Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak have shared their first single as a newly launched joint venture with “Leave The Door Open.” Accompanied by a Florent Dechard-directed music video, the collaborative single predates the duo’s upcoming album, An Evening With Silk Sonic, set to land later this year and featuring special guest host Bootsy Collins.

The two megastars previously crossed paths when Mars recruited .Paak in 2017 to tour with him during the European leg of his 24K Magic world tour. An Evening With Silk Sonic will mark Mars’ first full-length release since 2016.

Both the music video and single take on heavy influences of the early 70’s with the band convening for an impassioned gathering of irresistible pop, soul, and funk grooves.

Listen to a brand new dub mix from The Chemical Brothers


The Chemical Brothers have shared a new mix, on which they explore their love of dub music.

The hour-long mix is the first in a planned series of themed mixes by the production veterans as they launch a new station ‘Radio Chemical’ for Sonos Radio.

Take a listen to the mix below, which features music from the likes of King Tubby, Mixman, Dub Syndicate and more.

The Chemical Brothers said of the project: “We’re excited to bring you a selection of some of our favourite music – a deep dig into our record collections. Hopefully there will be something there for you whatever time of day you’re tuning in. Keep listening for exclusive DJ mixes that will explore some of our musical passions.”
