Action Bronson announces new book, ‘F*ck It, I’ll Start Tomorrow’

Rapper and chef Action Bronson has announced a new book, F*ck It, I’ll Start Tomorrow, due out next month.

Published through Abrams Books, the book explores Bronson’s “struggles with weight, food addiction, and the journey to self-acceptance”. Announcing the book on Instagram, the rapper said it has been two years in the making and he “hated every minute and second of making it”.

“When I would read back some of the stuff, I would throw up in my mouth. I would get high as possible, order 17 different things and just talk shit and then try to piece a book together in the end,” he said.

“The reason I did the book in the first place was just so I could parlay another cookbook so I was gonna just mail this one in and get on with it. What I didn’t realize was that this was the catalyst that made me look within myself and take some serious actions to fix the years of damage self-inflicted.

“Had no good intentions while making this book but somehow became this beacon of hope unintentional but meant to be.”

In between writing F*ck It, I’ll Start Tomorrow, Bronson also released his latest album ‘Only For Dolphins’ in September, created a new men’s fragrance and aired a new season of his cooking show Fuck, That’s Delicious.

“I’m venturing into whatever else I can possibly do. I’m trying to have an art show at some point [in 2020 or 2021]. I’m releasing all kinds of different products that all coincide with the album,” he told NME last October.

“I’m gonna continue to do more videos for the project, as many videos as we have songs. I’m gonna continue to work out, stay healthy, keep my mind sharp, keep my mind right and just work on a whole bunch of other projects until they’re ready to explode.”

JOYRYDE b2b Ghastly, 12th Planet, NGHTMRE & More Announced For Singularity Fest

A new festival in Utah has people talking thanks to one of the biggest lineups we’ve seen since the global pandemic began last year. Singularity, at the Utah Motorsports Campus, is going down April 30-May 2 and is one of the few multi-day, full-lineup socially distanced events that have occurred in the past 12 months — oh, and there will be pods.

Boasting a three-day lineup that includes the return of JOYRYDE b2b Ghastly as Ghostrydr, as well as 12th Planet, Peekaboo, NGHTMRE, Habstrakt, Dion Timmer, Dr. Fresch, Kompany, Whipped Cream, BlackGummy, and more, it’s exciting to see an event like this taking place after such a long time. This time, Mutiny Music Collective have tapped the notorious West Coast crew Space Yacht to jump on board, along with several senior industry veterans to take the event above and beyond.

Tickets are sold per pod, which accommodates up to 8 people, and range from $275 per day to $600 per day. Pods will be 10’x10′, with 6′ of space in between each adjacent pod. Masks are still mandatory and must be worn at all times, according to the event FAQ.

Tickets are on sale now.

Swedish House Mafia have reportedly parted ways with Columbia Records – Dancing Astronaut

Nearly three years to the day of their Ultra homecoming, Swedish House Mafia have gone their separate ways from both Columbia Records as well as Ron Laffitte of Patriot Management, who substituted in as their manager in 2019 following a split with Amy Thomson, according to a report from Billboard. The Swedes struck a lucrative deal with Columbia in February of 2019 following a chaotic bidding war against Universal Music Group.

Swedish House Mafia have yet to release any new material in the years since 2012’s “Don’t You Worry Child” with John Martin, despite numerous IDs locked away in the vault from both their Ultra reassembly and short-lived reunion tour, including “Underneath It All” with Mike Posner, “It Gets Better,” and “Frankenstein” with A$AP Rocky. Beyond the trio’s support of Black Lives Matter in June of 2020, Swedish House Mafia have yet to reappear in the public eye since the final moments of 2019, although rumors of a possible EP sparked this past February following an Instagram live from Alexander Wessely, who confirmed he was in the presence of Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello. Swedish House Mafia reportedly spent a portion of 2020 working on new music in Stockholm and the possibility of an album was also mentioned, according to Billboard’s sources, but it remains to be seen what happens with the Swedes now without a label.

Billboard Charts will now count Facebook music video streams

Billboard Charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200, Artist 100, and Billboard Global 200 charts, will now factor in streams of officially licensed music videos on Facebook when compiling its rankings.

The publication made the announcement today, with the change set to take effect on March 27, with retroactive data from March 12-18. Facebook began hosting officially licensed music videos in August last year.

The changes recognise Facebook video plays as “ad-supported on-demand streams”, but will only track U.S. viewership, in line with the charts’ scope. No user-uploaded content will be counted.

In 2013, Billboard began factoring YouTube streams, including user-uploaded content, into its song charts. In 2020, they added officially licensed music video streams into the album charts.

Tamara Hrivnak, VP of business development and partnerships at Facebook, said in a statement that the change was an “important step”.

“On Facebook, music videos represent so much more than just the video itself,” she said.

“It’s about creating a new channel for social experiences around music so you can discover a new artist from a music video shared by an artist you follow or a friend in News Feed, connect with other fans who share your passion in a Facebook Group dedicated to your favorite [sic] artist, and react to a video in real time as it premieres, all on the same platform.”

Subsidia Gets Wonky On All New 17-Track “Dusk Vol. 3” Collection

The phrase “shows no signs of slowing down” is almost an inside joke between music journalists at this point, but every so often, it bears truth. Subsidia, the new label launched by Excision in late 2020, dropped an astounding 120 tracks in its initial launch, and each collection has released at least two more volumes, with the exception of Dawn, which is still on its second. (Though you can be sure to expect the next one soon enough.)

Dusk: Vol. 3 just dropped today with 17 new tracks representing the wonkier bass side of the label, featuring names like Ruvlo, Ray Volpe, Blvk Sheep, MIRR.IMG, Carbin, and smaller names like Tabe B, UHNK, Xinister, ZIZI, and others.

Once again, Subsidia (and, by extension, Excision) demonstrates its devotion to uncovering smaller artists and featuring them on the label along with known names.

With just over six months of activity following its September 2020 foundation, Excision‘s new imprint, Subsidia Records, is now on the third volume of its respective Dusk, Dawn, and Night series.

Having just unveiled Subsidia Night Vol. 3 in early February, the label has announced a return to its wonky and grimy Subsidia Dusk: Vol. 3 compilation. The latest installment in the Dusk serial offers hair-raising beats from names like Ray Volpe, Pax Impera, Blvck Sheep, as well as tons of new up-and-coming bass artists who fans will want to start following early in the course of their careers. The past two editions of Dusk have given bass fanatics something to talk about despite festivals taking a backseat, and this next offering is sure to do the same.

Remi Wolf and Dominic Fike team up on new version of ‘Photo ID’

Remi Wolf and Dominic Fike have joined forces on a collaborative new version of ‘Photo ID’ – you can listen to it below.

The original track appears on Wolf’s 2020 EP ‘I’m Allergic To Dogs’, which followed on from the California artist’s six-track debut ‘You’re a Dog!’ (2019).

Released today (March 3), the revamped ‘Photo ID’ boasts a verse and backing vocals from Florida artist Fike who also appears alongside Wolf in the song’s accompanying official visuals.

He raps: “Alright pictures of my friends on my Instagram/ And photos of my toes on my OnlyFans/ And visuals in these frames look better than the ones that she posted on Facebook/ I’m ready when you want to point that shoot that pop that Polaroid that/ Screw that chop that lean that shit that only happen in my wildest dreams/ The shit we talk about and listen to behind the screens/ And I be tryin’ to stream consciousness“.

The new ‘Photo ID’ video finds the Wolf singing and dancing from inside what appears to be a large inflatable ball. Later, she rides a motorcycle while donning a disco ball helmet and busts moves in various locations.

We then see a close-up of Fike as he delivers his verse before he joins Wolf on the street to dance against a wall. Towards the end of the clip, the pair brush each other’s teeth in a bathroom mirror.

Remi Wolf featured in this year’s NME 100, which showcases the essential emerging artists for 2021. The musician was hailed as “an eclectic and eccentric sensibility that’s incredibly pure and impossible to replicate”.

Dominic Fike appeared on the list in 2019 before releasing his acclaimed debut album, ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong’, last summer – you can check out NME‘s four-star review here.

Porter Robinson Releases Final Single, “Musician,” Ahead Of His New Album

Nurture, the sophomore album from Porter Robinson, is due out April 23. With only a little over a month to go, the final single from the album, “Musician,” has just dropped.

The hyperpop single is a beautiful burst of blissful chords, synths, and vocals that perfectly exemplifies the new sound that Porter has adopted for his latest musical venture. Between this single, and the previously released “Look at the Sky,” “Mirror,” “Get Your Wish,” and “Something Comforting,” we have a pretty good idea of how the album will sound altogether.

Still, Porter’s music has always been greater than the sum of its parts, and we’re eagerly awaiting the opportunity to listen to the album the full way through to get the full experience.

In the meantime, stream “Musician” — out now!
