Snyder Reveals Debut 10 Track Album “In The Dark”

Multi-faceted US-based producer/DJ/artist Snyder releases his long-awaited full-length album, In The Dark. His 10-track debut artist album, which is comprised of several previously released singles, is full of sundry material and boasts vocal features from 24hrs, 51b, Dre of the East, Danielle Goz, Mike Eakins, and Northside Rocky. See the full In The Dark track listing, below. Nearly two years in the making, In The Dark is a work of art, which is further proof of Snyder’s eclectic style, sonic precision, and a true testament to his artistic diversity.

In the months leading up to the much-anticipated release of his debut LP, Snyder’s singles from the album have already amassed nearly 1 million streams on Spotify alone. As an independent artist, Snyder has been climbing the electronic dance music (EDM) circuit for quite some time. Successfully making strides and leaving his mark, Snyder has meticulously been releasing original material with coinciding videos and accompanying visualizers, even more well-executed than most label-signed acts.

Adapting to a new normal is something that the entire world has been experiencing together. Even through these trying times, Snyder was still eager to release music, and even performed at virtual music festivals such as Matoma’s Alone Together. The event, which was powered by Bumble, and aired on the notable Proximity channel, is where Snyder first debuted his single “Fire” featuring 24hrs

“‘In the Dark’ represents so much to me. For years I worked at building something cohesive between my projects and finally to have something covering so many genres, I’m so proud that it came out the way it did. I call it ‘In the Dark’ because I really do feel that the only thing that can tie all of these records together is darkness. Either darkness in the club, darkness in your heart, or darkness outside, you’re bound to feel some darkness in this project. Special thanks to 24hrs, Northside Rocky, 51b, Dre of the East, Mike Eakins, thank you guys so much for being a part of this project.” – SNYDER

Grimes is auctioning off ‘WarNymph Collection Vol.1’ crypto art

Grimes is auctioning off 10 exclusive pieces of crypto art, dubbed WarNymph Collection Vol.1, over the course of the next 48 hours.

The digital artwork is presented in the form of NFTs, or non-fungible tokens. The nature of the medium means that each token is unique, not able to be replicated, and not able to be exchanged for another token.

Some of Grimes’ crypto art – which she created with her brother Mac Boucher – is also accompanied by exclusive music from the star, including songs titled ‘Mars Theme’, ‘Ærythe’, and ‘Anhedonia’.

The collection is up for auction now via Nifty Gateway and, as Rolling Stone reports, prices on some of the artwork reached over $100,000 (£72k) in the first 30 minutes of going under the hammer.

A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be given to Carbon180, a non-profit that works to reduce carbon emissions.

Nifty Gateway said of WarNymph Collection Vol.1: “Grimes, with the WarNymph project, explores the fluidity of identity in the virtual age: the ability to create, augment, and splinter ourselves into unlimited avatars, create boundless worlds, and build rich, complex lore.”

Meanwhile, Grimes and Lil Uzi Vert agreed to get brain chips together earlier this month. The pair came up with the plan after the rapper tweeted about Neuralink, the firm run by Grimes’ partner Elon Musk. Neuralink aims to implant a computer interface in the human brain to provide long-term treatment for neurological conditions such as dementia.

“Let’s aim for chips by 2022,” Grimes said to Lil Uzi Vert on Twitter. “it’s experimental surgery but if it succeeds we’ll have the knowledge of the Gods haha.”

Charli XCX says she’s “forming a supergroup” with The 1975 and No Rome

Charli XCX has taken to social media to inform fans that she’s “forming a supergroup” with The 1975 and No Rome.

The singer-songwriter made the announcement on Twitter overnight (February 28), saying she was “v excited” at the prospect of working with the two acts.

The trio of artists has been teasing a possible collaboration for months. Most recently, No Rome — full name Guendoline Rome Viray Gomez — said that material would be “coming out sooner than u think”.

“Me, (the creator of music) Charli XCX & The 1975 have a song together. Got the masters done and waiting on video edit cuts,” he wrote on Twitter in February.

Charli replied to No Rome’s tweet at the time, tagging The 1975 with the caption: “sounding good boys”.

In January, The 1975’s Matt Healy confirmed on Instagram that he had indeed been collaborating with Charli XCX.

Speculation that The 1975 and Charli XCX would link up on a track dates back to 2019, when Healy tweeted that he had sent a beat to Charli.

“Sent her a beat at like 5pm yesterday and woke up this morning to a HIT. A MONSTER TUNE!!” Healy wrote in a series of tweets. He also described Charli XCX as “a fucking force”.

Speaking to NME at Reading Festival shortly afterwards, Charli corroborated Healy’s story, adding that she is “such a fan of [Healy] and the band”.

“We sent some ideas back and forth,” she said in August 2019.

“I feel like they really love pop music. And I love that, and I’m so inspired by that energy and that uniqueness. So yeah, I don’t know what’s going on. But I really admire their song writing, so hopefully something will come of it.”

There is no word yet on the name of the supergroup or when they plan to release their music.

Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew shares unreleased song ‘How’s It Going’

Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew has shared a previously unreleased “jam”, titled ‘How’s It Going’ – scroll down the page to listen to it now.

The frontman shared the song with a video earlier today (February 28), telling fans on Twitter it was intended to “remind us that we must keep holding on”.

In the description box on YouTube, Drew expanded on the story behind the song and the meaning it had taken on during the coronavirus pandemic. “How’s it going. This is a loaded question as we watch each other trying to navigate these times. Back in summer of 2014 I put down a song called “how’s it going” with my usual crew of believers. It was never released.

“My friend Jordan and I hunted down footage on the internet to put this video for the tune together. Many thanks to all those directors, artists, archivists and faces that we used.——- I miss the days of before as I wait for the days of new to keep arriving. Love to you all – hold on xox Kevin.”

At the end of the video, which features clips of street dancers, parades, festival sets and more, title screens read “Heaven is hanging with people and watching live music”, “We still have a way to go. Ask for help if you need it and take care of each other”, and “Most of the video was shot on stolen land”. Watch it above now.

Broken Social Scene last released new music with the 2019 EPs ‘Let’s Try The After (Vol. 1)’ and ‘Let’s Try The After (Vol. 2)’. Ahead of the former record, the band shared a gif-filled video to accompany the single ‘Boyfriends’.

The track was released around Valentine’s Day 2019 and, to mark the holiday, the group also created their own site where people could send their loved ones a Valentine’s e-card.

Friendzone Pilots Their Next Chapter With New Single “I Don’t Wanna Know” With Nikademis

Having pivoted from throwing 150 shows internationally to launching their own record label last October, the global party brand and beloved LA-based imprint Space Yacht has released “I Don’t Wanna Know,” Friendzone‘s first track of 2021.

After meeting at a Park City nightclub, the Friendzone duo eventually became roommates and their collaborative musical project was born. Producing high-energy dance music, Friendzone has performed at the X Games and opened shows for major artists such as Kaskade and RL Grime, among others. Now Friendzone is continuing to push their momentum with the release of “I Don’t Wanna Know.”

For the production of “I Don’t Wanna Know,” the duo tapped the talents of Nikademis, as well as Candace Sosa on the vocals. Together they have created a symphony of gritty basslines mixed with euphoric vocal tenor and delivered an infectious dance track.

If you happened to be tuned into Liquid Todd‘s SiriusXM betaBPM show last week, you might have heard “I Don’t Wanna Know” when the track first premiered. In case you missed it, you can listen below and find it on streaming platforms here.

Robert Fripp and Toyah Willcox joined by snake for Foo Fighters cover

King Crimson’s Robert Fripp and Toyah Willcox have shared another episode of their Sunday Lockdown Lunch series, this time featuring a reptilian guest.

The couple have been sharing weekly covers over the last few months and scoring viral hits for their often playful presentation of classic songs.

In this week’s episode, uploaded earlier today (February 28), Fripp and Willcox put their spin on Foo Fighters’ ‘Everlong’, bringing along a snake to help them out. “No animals were harmed or mistreated in the filming of this episode,” a title screen assured viewers at the start.

“All handling was done under the strict supervision and instruction of a trained professional.”

The video saw Willcox sing along to Fripp’s guitar-playing while holding the snake around her arms and hands. Watch it below now.

Last week, the pair shared a cover of Alice Cooper’s ‘Poison’, which saw Willcox dress up as a nurse. Previously, they celebrated Valentine’s Day with a version of ‘Tainted Love’, which was performed from their bedroom rather than the typical location of their kitchen.

Those videos followed earlier covers by the likes of Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Guns N Roses and more.

Willcox recently revealed that they started the Sunday Lockdown Lunch series because Fripp was “withdrawing” under coronavirus lockdown restrictions. “Here I am in this house with this 74-year-old husband who I really don’t want to live without,” she said. “He was withdrawing, so I thought: ‘I’m going to teach him to dance.’ And it became a challenge.

“I do the lighting, the filming, the conceptual side and the persuading Robert to take part.”

Nicky Romero Drops Uplifting New Single “Back to You” [LISTEN]

2020 was a rough year, so we’re all entering 2021 with hope for the future. Nicky Romero is no different, as evidenced by his latest single “Back to You.” The Dutch producer/DJ treats listeners to a bright, bittersweet, more radio friendly tune. Despite the catchy melody, there’s still enough oomph in the drop to get the dancefloor going.

“Back to You” opens with a bright piano melody. The vocal kicks in immediately, and the lyrics are pretty prescient for the pandemic. The vocalist is missing his friends and is recalling bright and warm memories. Like all of us, every step he takes leads him back to those good times he’s missing out on. After a slight buildup we get the huge drop. The piano melody has been transformed in beautiful string synths layered over a friendly beat. If you’re missing dancing at festivals after hearing this one, that’s exactly what Nick was going for.

Here’s what he had to say about “Back to You” and his optimism for 2021:

‘Back To You’ is a message of positivity and hope. I went into the studio hopeful for what is to come and excited to be back on stage when it’s possible and safe for everyone. I hope when this song comes on over the airwaves that listeners will feel as excited as I am to return to festivals and clubs in the year ahead. I can’t wait to see all of you there! Stay safe.

Check out the latest from Nicky Romero, “Back to You” out now on Protocol.
