yetep’s emotionally charged ‘Broken’ EP flourishes on Subsidia Records – Dancing Astronaut

yetep has delivered Broken, an immersive five-track EP, on Excision‘s Subsidia Records. The Los Angeles-based producer made his Subsidia debut in 2020, appearing on the Subsidia: Dawn Vol. 1 label compilation, which hosted his GLNNA collaboration, “Worlds Away.” In 2021, he graced Subsidia: Dawn Vol. 2 with “Let You Go” featuring GhostDragon and Exede.

Now, on his five-track EP, yetep extravagantly engages listeners with a mystical amalgamation of ethereal bass and ambient soundscapes emboldened by heavy and melodic elements. Broken takes an intense step forward in the context of yetep’s flair for emotional and mesmeric productions. Speaking on the EP, yetep said,

“I have always admired the way that Excision’s Subsidia label brings people together, who love melodic and bass music. It was important for me to show a glimpse of melodic and heavy sounds, a side that some are really not accustomed to hearing from me. I also wanted to showcase new artists to the Subsidia family. I know it says ‘yetep’ on the artwork, but please check out all of the artists involved in this. Broken is definitely a collaborative ground of work and I’m very happy with how it turned out.”

Listen to Tekashi 6ix9ine’s rowdy new single ‘Zaza’

Tekashi 6ix9ine has shared his first new music of 2021 – listen to new single ‘Zaza’ below.

The new track follows last year’s ‘Gooba’, ‘Trollz’, ‘Yaya’ and ‘Punani’, which all appeared on the rapper’s second album, ‘TattleTales’, and came after he was given early release from prison in April.

And we still screamin’ out ‘Gang, gang, gang’, look/ Free the guys in the chain-gang-gang/ Finna go insane, let it bang, bang, bang/ I’ma up this chopper, get out my way,” 6ix9ine raps on the chorus of ‘Zaza’.

The new song is accompanied by a video directed by just4canon and 6ix9ine himself. In the middle of the party-themed clip, 6ix9ine includes footage from his recent altercation with Meek Mill.

Last week, the pair had a heated run-in outside an Atlanta club, which reportedly culminated in 6ix9ine lunging at Meek and his security.

Meek later addressed the altercation on social media, writing that 6ix9ine was allegedly waiting outside of the club for Meek to appear.

Watch the video for ‘Zaza’ below:

In a two-star review of ‘TattleTales’, NME‘s Luke Morgan Britton said the controversial rapper “is unlikely to win over converts with this creatively bankrupt collection that exposes the depressing hollowness at the heart of his music”.

Meanwhile, Karam Gill, director of the forthcoming docuseries Supervillain: The Making of Tekashi 6ix9ine, has labelled the rapper a “truly horrible human”.

The new series comes to Showtime on February 21, and follows another film on the controversial rapper, 69: The Saga Of Daniel Hernandez, which landed last November.

“We’re living in the era of manufactured celebrity, where people can create inauthentic online personas and rise to fame without any talent or morals,” Gill told Page Six.

Meanwhile, Cudi – real name Scott Mescudi – revealed last month that he and 50 Cent are working on a new TV show together.

Cudi started 2021 by sharing a deluxe edition of his new album ‘Man On The Moon III’.

“Had a call w 50 Cent last week about cookin up a show together,” Cudi tweeted last night (January 30). “Big things happening!! Ill keep u posted.

“50 is one of my favorite emcees and hes also a really great guy w a good heart,” he added. No firm details of the show, or what form it may take, have yet been revealed.

Reviewing Cudi’s third ‘Man On The Moon’ album, which came out in December and features guest appearances from Pop Smoke, Skepta, Phoebe Bridgers and Trippie Redd, NME wrote: “‘Man On The Moon III: The Chosen’ is a cinematic masterstroke that electrifies the senses at every turn.

“Kid Cudi gives us every part of himself, laying out his insecurities and inner demons in the hope that it might help someone else, his words etched into a vivid backdrop of intoxicating melodies and palatial riffs. No one does mood music quite like Cudi.”

Listen to Green Day’s new song ‘Here Comes The Shock’

Green Day have released a new song called ‘Here Comes The Shock’ – listen below.

The trio announced the new track via Twitter on Thursday (February 17). It’s officially out in North America today (February 21) before releasing to the rest of the world tomorrow (February 22).

Watch the song’s accompanying music video below:

The track was also played as part of yesterday’s (February 20) NHL Outdoor Games at Lake Tahoe on NBC.

‘Here Comes The Shock’ marks the band’s first new material since 2020’s ‘Father Of All Motherfuckers‘ and frontman Billie Joe Armstrong’s recent solo covers record ‘No Fun Mondays‘.

It comes just weeks after Green Day played their first live show in nearly a year, bringing a career-spanning three-song set to the annual NFL Honors show.

The group played ‘Holiday’, ‘Basket Case’ and 2016 track ‘Still Breathing’ outside the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Green Day are still set to return to the UK for their coronavirus-delayed Hella Mega Tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy in June 2021.

In a recent interview with NME, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo said he believes the tour is still on as it stands. “My manager just told me yesterday that the US promoter is still saying it’s gonna happen,” Cuomo explained. “That could change, but I’m not making any other plans for the summer.”

In other Green Day news, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong recently revealed that he’s been writing a lot of new music in recent months.

Speaking to NME, he said: “I’ve been writing a lot. I’m always putting something together, whether it’s a full demo in my small studio or just some voice notes on my phone.

“Whether we do a full-length album or an EP or just a song, we have a lot of different options. It’s a matter of whenever the right moment happens. That’s the beauty of the way you can put music out these days. You don’t have to wait for any gatekeeper to tell you that the timing is right.”

Armstrong added: “With the new stuff that I’m writing, I don’t know – a lot of it is kind of more self-deprecating and funny [than the last album]. Not that I’m doing a comedy record or anything. On one hand it feels autobiographical and funny, but on the other when you look at it you can put a social commentary twist to it.”

Ultra Officially Cancels 2021 Event, Adds New Perks For 2022

Ultra Music Festival, if it were to occur in 2021, would have happened just over a month from now. Of course, we all knew it wasn’t happening, so when Ultra Miami officially sent out its cancellation email, there was less shock and awe and more, “ok, let’s see what they actually have to say about it.”

After the basic “this is due to COVID; we’re disappointed; we can’t wait to have you back” language, they introduce a new offering called “Premium General Admission.”

“Current GA ticket holders can upgrade to Premium General Admission at no additional cost and with no additional purchase required.”

This sounds a lot like Syndrome from The Incredibles giving his, “With everyone super, no one will be” monologue.

“Premium General Admission” includes a dedicated festival entry (which will essentially be no different than regular GA if everyone upgrades), access to “enhanced, routinely cleaned, air-conditioned restroom facilities with private stalls (again, same issue as above), and the “PGA Lounge” with a “relaxation area and bar.”

Ultra 2022 will also open an hour early with a festival headliner, which just seems like Ultra wants you there early to spend more money.

It’s likely that Ultra is in dire financial straits, given that it was one of the first festivals cancelled due to COVID and has not held any live streams or any sort of public events outside of its international events to help recoup lost money. Now entering its second year without an event, the 2022 event is vital to the longevity of one of EDM’s biggest festivals.
