Adventure Club, ARMNHMR, & HALIENE Drop Long-Awaited Collab, “Anywhere”


In 2020, Adventure Club announced their forthcoming album and released a plethora of singles via Ultra Music. Bringing along talents such as Yuna, Sara Diamond, Cammie Robinson, Dia Frampton, and Squired, leaving fans anxiously awaiting the LP’s full release. Making it their first full studio album since 2016, Adventure Club continues to move along with their 5th single “Anywhere,” with ARMNHMR and HALIENE.

Fans have been waiting for this track for what seems like forever, with excitement only growing after ARMNHMR played it out during Insomniac’s Nocturnal Rave-A-Thon last April.

HALIENE has been a part of some of EDM’s biggest hits, frequently teaming up with Seven Lions, Excision, Armin van Buuren, Bear Grillz, Andrew Rayel, and more. And so, her contribution to this track definitely makes it what it is, alongside the stunning production from both Adventure Club and ARMNHMR.

Now, it’s serving as the sonic muse for a contemporary dance-pop cover that comes courtesy of Luke Alexander.

Though Alexander has been a fixture of the East Coast club circuit in recent years, the “Try Again” cover makes a splash as the New York native’s first major release. As live events slowly but surely inch toward reawakening, Alexander’s contemporary spin is a clear candidate for live playout, ready and waiting in the wings for in-person deployment. Miles Seaton, founding member of Akron/Family, has passed away aged 41


Miles Seaton, a founding member of the experimental group Akron/Family, has passed away at age 41.

The band’s label, Dead Oceans, broke the news via social media earlier this week. Seaton’s cause of death is yet to be disclosed.

Born in 1979, Seaton moved to New York in the early 2000s, where he met future bandmates Dana Janssen, Seth Olinsky and Ryan Vanderhoof.

The quartet of multi-instrumentalists founded Akron/Family in 2003 and quickly developed a cult following amongst New Yorkers. They released their eponymous debut record, a split LP with Angels of Light, in 2005.

Akron/Family proved prolific in the years that followed, releasing five more albums, ‘Meek Warrior’, ‘Love Is Simple’, ‘Set ‘Em Wild, Set ‘Em Free’, ‘Akron/Family II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shiniju TNT’ and ‘Sub Verses’, before announcing their hiatus in 2013.

Seaton continued recording music as a solo artist, releasing three albums under the name Miles Cooper Seaton. The most recent, ‘Phases in Exile’, hit shelves in 2017.

“Miles was one of a kind person, in a one of a kind band. It’s a rush of emotions,” wrote Seaton’s friend and Dead Oceans co-founder, Phil Waldorf.

“I feel lucky that I knew Miles, and sad that I have to say goodbye. We hope you’ll share some memories. There are too many for me to count right now”.

Ryley Walker, Danish rock group Efterklang and Akron/Family touring member M. Geddes Gengras are among the other musicians to have paid tribute to Seaton online.

The vibes are alive and well in Denver. The CO’s own DMVU takes another trip on Dome of Doom records for the debut of yet another tripped out masterpiece, Praise Be Delusion or, The Ripple. A 15-track stroll through a sonic wonderland of deftly produced and seductively imagined electronica. Finding inspiration in the ’50s and ’60s beat movement, DMVU’s chosen title nods to Kerouac’s “Mexico City Blues (228th Chorus)” and the album follows in the same sort of exploratory wanderlust as its inspiration. Recorded in Denver, the album is built on piano compositions and a collage of synthetic filigrees. No two tracks on the album sound the same. Genres blur and blend, time signatures shift, something delightfully unexpected sits snugly inside every track.

One of the album’s stand out moments, “My Foolish Heart,” toys in a multitude of not only genres and BPMs, but feelings. Moments of peace are matched with the speed a ferocity of break beat BPMs, all dynamically layered and shifting underneath a steady drive forward, an undeniable momentum despite the constant changes in tone. DMVU’s impossible to pin down composition is so impossibly lush that it’s easy to get lost in.

And that’s definitely the point.

Praise Be Delusion or, The Ripple will release worldwide across DSPs and limited edition cassette formats February 26, 2021 with Dome of Doom.

Kim Kardashian files for divorce from Kanye West


Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from Kanye West after almost seven years of marriage.

It was reported last month that the pair were living “separate lives” and that divorce was “imminent” for the celebrity couple.

It has now been confirmed by a Los Angeles Superior Court spokeswoman to Reuters that Kardashian filed divorce papers earlier today (February 19). A representative for Kardashian also confirmed that she had filed papers.

According to TMZ, sources called the divorce “amicable,” saying Kardashian is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s four children, which West has said he is “fine” with.

The couple married in a ceremony at a Renaissance fortress in Florence, Italy, in 2014 and have four children together: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. It was the first marriage for the West, and the third for Kardashian.

West and Kardashian’s marriage is believed to have hit the rocks last year when West, who suffers from bipolar disorder, ran an unsuccessful US presidential campaign marked by erratic statements under his self-styled Birthday Party.

Kardashian defended West’s behaviour in a statement urging compassion for his mental health struggles.

In July 2020, West publicly tweeted about a potential split from Kardashian, saying, “I been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Warldolf [sic] for ‘prison reform.’” He later issued an apology.

Divorce rumours also swirled around West and Kardashian in 2016, after the rapper was hospitalised for “temporary psychosis”. Those rumours were shortly quashed by Kardashian’s friend Jonathan Cheban and the official Twitter account for her reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Meanwhile, West is facing two class-action lawsuits and up to $30 million in damages after allegations that he failed to pay up to 1,000 performers and backstage staff at his ambitious Sunday Service shows.
