Must-listen: Brando Valli stocks the Snse queue with ‘We Need Love’

Given The Four Seasons’ doo-wop sensibilities and rock inclinations, listeners likely would not have expected Frankie Valli’s son Brando Valli to foray into dance music—much less drum ‘n’ bass—but Dancing Astronaut is sure of one thing: we’re damn glad he did. After forging a name-making campaign that culminated in five singles—the first of which (“Orisha,” July 2020) christened Valli as Snse as the remaining four gave shape to his emerging sound—Valli is further carving Snse’s niche in the electronic space with “We Need Love.”

The spry outing, made in step with Elijah Blake, is a burst of energy bottled in a three-minute and 25-second runtime. The ear-hooking new number has a freshness to it; it doesn’t sound like anything that listeners might find on a streaming platform’s “new music Friday” playlist—and that’s just part of “We Need Love’s” novelty. Take it from us: “We Need Love” is an effervescent microcosm of why you want to be watching what’s next to come out of the Snse camp.

Kodak Black offers to pay tuition fees for children of murdered FBI agents

Kodak Black has offered to pay the college tuition fees for the children of two FBI agents who were murdered last week (February 1).

The agents were shot and killed by Florida man David Lee Huber when they served him with a search warrant in connection with a child pornography case. When they arrived at his home, Huber began shooting, wounding three more officers before he was shot and killed by the authorities.

Now, Black is offering to help out the families of Daniel Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger in the wake of their deaths. Schwartzenberger is survived by two children aged nine and four, while Alfin had a three-year-old.

In a video shared on Twitter, the rapper is seen standing next to his lawyer Bradford Cohen, who tells a small crowd: “He’s always rised to the top in terms of any kind of charity, any kind of giving.

“In fact today there was two fallen FBI agents in Broward County that had three children. We actually sent a letter over to the FBI Director in Miami that Kodak is offering to pay for all three kids’ tuitions going forward.” Watch the video above now.

Black was released from prison last month after being granted a presidential pardon by Donald Trump. He was serving a 46-month sentence for federal weapons charges.

He referenced the pardon on a song called ‘Last Day In’ immediately after his release and, later, discussed his post-prison lifestyle on a track called ‘Every Balmain’.

Feel like the feds be watchin’ me everywhere I go, I’m paranoid,” he rapped on the song, before referencing a reported sighting of the rapper at a Super Bowl party: “Still keep a .9 millimetre on me/ All my fingers got Super Bowl rings.”

BOMBA ESTEREO RELEASE 3 NEW SONGS + ‘DEJA’ ALBUM ANNOUNCE

Colombian band Bomba Estereo have announced ‘Deja,’ their forthcoming album after a 4 year long break. With this announcmenent comes three new singles (“Agua,” “Deja” & “Soledad”) and a visual. The slick “Agua” music video was directed by Bomba’s singer Liliana “Li” Saumet and Jhoy Suarez. It was filmed on Colombia’s Caribbean coast near Li’s home. Check out the funky songs + audio below now and keep an eye out for the forthcoming album due out later this year. Above the stream check out 2 quotes from the group on the new music and video! Enjoy.

The video comes from an idea I had about a ritual, entering into a parallel universe in which we find ourselves in a deeper connection with nature, in a more surreal and feminine way,” Li explains. “I wanted to begin the album with this feminine energy, each woman represents a different element in nature. For me, it was also about the place I live, where the mountains meet the sea.” – BOMBA ESTEREO

“The album is about the connection and disconnection of human beings—from the planet, from one’s own self,” Li says. “It’s about how we’re disconnected, more connected to electronic devices and virtual things than real things. So we decided to use the four elements, because they’re part of the equilibrium of human beings.” – BOMBA ESTEREO

Neil Young to release lost live album and film ‘Young Shakespeare’

Neil Young has announced the release of a previously lost live album called ‘Young Shakespeare’, as well as an accompanying concert film.

The gig took place at the Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford, Connecticut on January 22, 1971, with Young’s setlist containing early versions of songs that would go on to appear on his acclaimed 1972 album ‘Harvest’.

The footage, the earliest known to exist of Young performing onstage solo, was originally filmed for a German television broadcast but was never made publicly available. Both the film and audio have been painstakingly restored by Young’s team.

The tracklisting for ‘Young Shakespeare’ is as follows:

01. Tell Me Why
02. Old Man
03. The Needle and the Damage Done
04. Ohio
05. Cowgirl in the Sand
06. A Man Needs a Maid
07. Heart of Gold
08. Dance Dance Dance
09. Helpless
10. Don’t Let It Bring You Down
11. Down By The River
12. Sugar Mountain

“‘Young Shakespeare’ is a very special event […] Personal and emotional, for me, it defines that time,” Young said of the new release, which was recorded just days after his performance at Massey Hall in Toronto, also released as a live album in 2007.

““[Producer] John Hanlon and I both feel ‘Shakespeare’ is superior to our beloved Massey Hall,” Young continued. “A more calm performance, without the celebratory atmosphere of Massey Hall, captured live on 16mm film.”

Both the album and film are set for release on March 26, exactly one month after another Young live album and film, ‘Way Down In The Rust Bucket’ with his band Crazy Horse.

Earlier this week, meanwhile, the producer of ‘Harvest’ and a number of other Young albums Elliot Mazer died, aged 79.

Illenium Confirms New Album Is On The Way

It’s sort of a “yeah, duh” moment, but in one of his latest tweets, Illenium has confirmed that indeed a new album is on its way.

All of his latest singles, “Hearts on Fire,” “Paper Thin,” and “Nightlight,” have been grouped together in a growing list the same way that The Chainsmokers did to promote their albums Sick Boy and World War Joy. So anyone who’s been paying attention — or even just puts two and two together — would know this already.

But still, a clear confirmation is appreciated.

Check out the tweet below!
