San Holo announces incoming LP ‘bb u ok?’ alongside new single – Dancing Astronaut

Superstar DJ and producer San Holo has announced his second album bb u ok? will be released May 21, 2020. The forthcoming album will be his first LP since 2018’s album1 and will be released via Holo’s own bitbird imprint. When San Holo released the title track in December, he shared the album title’s inspiration in a press release:

bb u ok?” is a question for you to ask yourself and the lovely people around you. Life is so fast paced these days, we often don’t take the time to answer this question genuinely. It’s so easy to fall out of touch with yourself and the people you love. We need genuine conversations and connections to keep going…reach out to someone close to you today with a simple ‘bb u ok?’”

Along with his album news, San Holo dropped off the second taste of bb u ok? with “find your way” featuring Bipolar Sunshine. True to San Holo’s signature sound, the single’s instrumental expertly blends pop ideas with the modern electronic sound while allowing the uplifting vocals to take center stage. “find your way” is the second San Holo track featuring Bipolar Sunshine following their effervescent album1 collaboration “brighter days.”

Check out the first trailer for new Bastille doc ‘ReOrchestrated’

The first trailer for Bastille‘s new film ReOrchestrated has just been released via Amazon Music – check it out below.

The film, a music doc described as “a bracingly honest journey through their work to rearrange some of their biggest hits, including Pompeii, Quarter Past Midnight, Another Place, and Warmth” will be released next week.

ReOrchestrated will put to the screen the band’s attempt to reprise several of their songs across three albums with a 20-piece orchestra and choir.

“I’ve always been really self-conscious,” frontman Dan Smith can be heard saying in the trailer. “Like any job, you come to a point where you’ve maybe had enough.

“How can we rearrange these songs in a way that’s really unexpected to try and show people other sides of what we do?”

Check out the trailer here:

Bastille most recently surprised fans with a new EP titled ‘Goosebumps’ at the end of last year.

The project saw the band collaborate with Kenny Beats, on a title track Smith described as “a throwback R&B song and something a bit more playful.”

He added: “We had a lot of fun writing and recording it, initially on a day in between shows whilst touring in New York last year, and then back in London at our studio, One Eyed Jack’s.

“We’re big fans of Kenny Beats and having met him in LA invited him to hang out at the studio when he was in town. We played each other a load of music, and he loved ‘Goosebumps’ and immediately started working on beats and sounds for it, and it kind of went from there.”

Bastille’s ReOrchestrated film will be released via Amazon Music on February 10.

SNAILS returns from year-long hiatus with new single “Frogkind”

The last original release from SNAILS came with “DEATHMATCH,” his collaboration with SVDDEN DEATH, in March 2020. Since then, he’s also released the World of Slime remix album, but it’s been a while to say the least since his last fresh song. Dropping today as a solo original and his return to his iconic vomitstep sound, “FROGKIND” is easily one of his best works to date.

Featuring booming bass and disgusting synth, the constant return to the ragga melody keeps this one from feeling stale or repetitive and always gives fans a chance to vibe along with the lyrics and prepare for the next impending drop.

“I want to start by saying FROGKIND isn’t just a song for me,” SNAILS says. “With all the years being SNAILS, I feel the sound of the project has evolved so much and the original direction of where I was hoping to go ultimately changed. I don’t think it was a bad thing to try something new and different but in the end I feel it wasn’t what the project was meant to be sound wise. FROGKIND is the beginning of a new era and also the start of going back to my roots—my core sound design… The time has come to finally unleash the weirdness! I’m so happy to share this new song from my upcoming EP!! Its only the beginning…”

Live Nation sues insurance company amidst company’s refusal to cover COVID-19 claims – Dancing Astronaut Live Nation sues insurance company amidst company’s refusal to cover COVID-19 claims

Live Nation is suing their insurance company, Factory Mutual, for refusing to cover hundreds of millions of losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The lawsuit was filed in California federal court on January 29 as a result of the insurer refusing to honor their premium insurance policy, which specifically designates “communicable diseases” as a covered cause of loss, according to Live Nation’s outside counsel Marc D. Halpern. Live Nation purchased the premium policy on June 1, 2019 for coverage through June 1, 2020.

Live Nation is not the only entity suing Factory Mutual. A growing group of companies, including Ralph Lauren, New York University, and the Atlanta Falcons, are suing over Factory Mutual’s refusal to pay out claims on its Global Advantage All-Risk property insurance policy. The section of the policy in question specifies that while “communicable diseases” are a covered cause of loss, “pathogens, viruses, or other disease causing agents” do not fall under coverage. The suit notes that the policy’s intention is “meant to protect the insured against all risks of loss, whether known or unknown.”

Suits have been widespread following the devastating economic impact of the pandemic on many industries. Some of these suits will likely influence the insurer’s defense, which could point to the fact that the provision on property loss and damage only applies to physical damage and not losses caused by mandated closures. In response to this fact, Live Nation has already pointed to more than half a dozen other potential coverage areas in the policy. These includes time element coverage, which insures against losses caused by “the inability to put property to its normal use” and “Civil or Military Authority coverage,” which protects against losses caused by limitations placed on the company by civil or military leaders.

Factory Mutual has consistently taken the position that it will deny nearly all coverage sought by its policyholders for COVID-19 losses. As a result, Live Nation currently seeks declaratory relief in its proceedings.

Vampire Weekend share new ‘40:42’ remix EP

Vampire Weekend have shared their new EP ‘40:42’, which features two fresh reworkings of their song ‘2021’ – you can hear it below.

The track in question originally featured on the band’s fourth studio album ‘Father of the Bride’, which came out in May 2019.

The ‘40:42’ EP has been released today (February 4), featuring two 20-minute, 21-second reworkings by Los Angeles jazz saxophonist Sam Gendel and the Connecticut quintet Goose.

“They knocked it out of the park,” Vampire Weekend said in a statement praising both artists’ takes on ‘2021’. “Both created striking, exploratory works that stand on their own. We hope these 40 minutes and 42 seconds of music will provide some peaceful, vibey atmosphere as we all move through 2021.”

You can hear Sam Gendel and Goose’s respective takes on Vampire Weekend’s ‘2021’ below.

Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio released his latest solo album ‘Dead Hand Control’ late last month.

Speaking to NME back in November, Baio said that he felt fortunate that Vampire Weekend were able to tour ‘Father Of The Bride’ prior to the coronavirus-enforced shutdown of live music last year.

“I feel so lucky our record came out last year [2019] and we got to tour. I really feel for any artist who spent a long time making a record, put it out this year and wasn’t able to tour,” he said.

“We were supposed to tour at the end of this year and the tour last year felt so good: there is a little sense of, I don’t know, unfinished business. I’m really looking forward to whatever the next chapter of the band is.”
