Daft Punk 2007 Lollapalooza Set Emerges 14 Years Later With New, High Quality Footage

Daft Punk’s 2007 tour is unique in that it’s a current bucket list item for many fans who wish they could go back in time and witness these moments in person. However, with a new tour all but incredibly unlikely, we have to rely on old, found footage to truly relive these shows.

Thankfully, some new, previously uncirculated high quality footage has made its way online from their Lollapalooza 2007 performance. According to the notes at the beginning of the video, this footage was mixed live for the screens at the venue, so it’s a direct feed from front of house and in super high quality.

It’s the same set as their Coachella 2006 set, but the video quality is miles better quality than the spliced-together found footage from that show. The first of its kind stage production set the scene for all modern stage productions — watch it below!

Girl In Red promises “some crazy shit” on her “ambitious” debut album

Girl In Red has promised that her “very ambitious” forthcoming debut album will contain “some crazy shit”.

Last August, the Norwegian singer-songwriter shared new track ‘Rue’, the first preview of the full-length record.

In a new interview with DIY, Marie Ulven has shed some more light on what to expect from the record. “There’s some crazy shit going down on this album,” she said. “I can tell you that for sure.

“I’m doing things I’ve never done before. It’s a very, very ambitious album,” she added, promising that the album will feature similar styles to her earlier work “except way, way cooler”: “This is some grown, 2.0 shit.”

Girl In Red marked “the start of a new phase” last April with new single ‘Midnight Love’, and explained that her debut would be “definitely more mature” than her previous releases.

She added to DIY that the record will serve as an “emotional recap” of her last year. “I’m writing a lot about my mental health and the different sides of love – you know, the type of things that take up my time,” she added.

“I wasn’t doing very well last year, but I’m doing better now – I’m going to a bunch of therapy. I’ve just been really inspired by how my brain works sometimes, and how something can be beautiful yet broken.”

In a recent interview with NME, Girl In Red was asked if her debut album would be finished by Christmas, when her festive single ‘Two Queens In A King-Sized Bed’ was released.

“Yeah, it needs to be!” she replied. “There’s no other way! I can’t work on this album any more. Every day that goes by, I grow more confused by the music so it’s really important for me to get this shit done and get it out of my life!

Paris Jackson shares video for Andy Hull collaboration ‘Eyelids’

Paris Jackson has shared a new video for ‘Eyelids’, her collaborative single with Manchester Orchestra frontman Andy Hull – watch it below.

Hull produced and co-wrote Jackson’s 2020 debut album ‘Wilted’.

In the dark, atmospheric new black-and-white video, Jackson and Hull circle each other and intertwine over the emotional track. Watch the new visual below.

Discussing her admiration of Hull and their collaboration together, Jackson told Billboard: “Manchester Orchestra was the soundtrack to the most vital time in my life in regards to mourning and becoming who I am today.

“[Hull’s] voice has guided me through some of the roughest times where I really had to lean into healthy coping skills, and to hear [him] singing lyrics from my heart was one of the coolest things in the world. I remember just being so blown away that I physically leaned back in my chair and was gripping the armrest.”

Reviewing ‘Wilted’ upon its release in 2020, NME wrote: “Haunting layered vocals, gleaming electric guitar licks and weird chord progressions permeate ‘Wilted’, and the album is at its best when these alt-rock elements are at the forefront.

“‘Wilted’ feels caught between the twee folksy pop of Paris Jackson’s previous releases with The Soundflowers and the bewildering alt-rock icon she may become. As a musical introduction, it’s enthralling, inconsistent and, at times, excellent. Ultimately, this is a glimpse of the artist that Jackson could be.”

Elsewhere, Jackson, also a model and actress, has signed up to play Jesus in upcoming independent film Habit.

The film follows “a street-smart party girl with a Jesus fetish who gets mixed up in a violent drug deal and finds a possible way out by masquerading as a nun”.

Three US ticket resellers fined in first order under Obama’s anti-scalping act

Three New York-based ticket resellers have been fined $3.7million (£2.7m) in the first order under former US president Barack Obama‘s anti-scalping bill.

Obama’s bill was passed in 2016, but had yet to bring a case to court.

Three companies, Just in Time Tickets, Inc., Cartisim Corp. and Concert Specials, Inc., were alleged to have used bots in order to purchase concert tickets and then sell them at inflated prices on the resale market.

The companies and their bosses, Evan Kohanian, Simon Ebrani, and Steven Brani, have been ordered to pay £2.7m between them by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), lowered from $31m (£22m) due to their inability to pay the fines.

A summary of the court case reads: “The three ticket brokers will be subject to a judgment of more than $31 million in civil penalties for violating the Better Online Ticket Sales (BOTS) Act, under a proposed settlement reached with the FTC. Due to their inability to pay, the judgment will be partially suspended, requiring them to pay $3.7 million.

The FTC’s chairwoman Rebecca Kelly Slaughter added in a statement: “The Act’s bipartisan sponsors sought to crack down on the abuses that unscrupulous actors inflict on consumers whose typing fingers were no match for algorithms in attempting to secure tickets online.

“The settlements our staff negotiated with these alleged BOTS Act violators make clear that serious consequences will befall those who cheat fans out of a fair shot to secure tickets to live events.”

In December of 2016, just before he left office, Obama signed a new act into law that makes it a federal offence to buy tickets using bots.

The Better Online Ticket Sales (BOTS) Act of 2016 makes ticketing bots – software capable of grabbing thousands of tickets as soon as they go on sale – illegal. The Bill was sponsored by the Republican Kansas Senator Jerry Moran, who has said it will “level the playing field” for customers of ticketing sites.

The law also means the federal government can file suits on the behalf of those who miss out on tickets due to bots.

In 2018, the UK Government also announced new legislation to prevent secondary ticket companies from using automated bots to harvest gig tickets in bulk. The ban under the Digital Economy Act means that anyone using bots to buy more than 10 tickets at a time will now face unlimited fines.

Speaking to NME, MP Matt Hancock said that while the reselling of gig tickets would not become completely illegal, a review was ongoing to tackle the issue – including investigating companies that are both primary and secondary sellers of tickets.

“The goal here is to make sure that fans can buy tickets at reasonable prices,” Mr Hancock told NME.

Kodak Black has referenced Donald Trump commuting his prison sentence in new song ‘Last Day In’ – scroll down the page to hear it now.

The rapper was serving a 46-month sentence for falsifying documents to obtain a firearm at USP Thompson in Illinois, but was released on Wednesday (January 20) after Trump issued a pardon for him.

Now, Black – whose real name is Bill Kapri – has released a new song called ‘Last Day In’. On the track, he rapped: “Trump just freed me, but my favourite president is on the money.”

This my first day out, bitch/ I want a head massage,” he added later. Listen to the song below now.

Following his pardon from the former president, Black tweeted: “I want to thank the president @realdonaldtrump for his commitment to justice reform and shortening my sentence. I also want to thank everyone for their support and love.

“It means more than you will ever know. I want to continue giving back, learning and growing.”

While Black is no longer in prison, he is still facing a first-degree criminal sexual misconduct charge in South Carolina.

Before Trump pardoned Black, the rapper said he would give $1million (£731k) to charity if his sentence was commuted. “If the president them free me, I’m gonna spend 1 million on charity within the first year I’m out,” he wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “That’s on everything.”

Last September, he also reached out to Trump, claiming his sentence was unfair and that he had suffered abuse in prison.
