Amid delivering a series of show stopping drive-in performances on New Year’s Eve 2020 and into the new year, deadmau5 surprised fans with a preview of an unreleased track with a collaborator who sounded very much like Portugal. The Man. After an attendee’s video from deadmau5’s Texas Motor Speedway show surfaced on Twitter, the alt-rock heroes confirmed their part in the collaboration.

Although the clip is just a snippet of the full song, from what viewers can tell, the track gives way to an airy and melodic soundscape. The song is carried out by Portugal’s lead singer, John Gourley. Catch the sneak peek below.

Watch The Vaccines’ Justin Young play unreleased song ‘Internet Disco ft. Agent Emotion’

The Vaccines’ Justin Young has played a snippet of unreleased track ‘Internet Disco ft. Agent Emotion’.

So far, the song has only been made available on the ‘Songs For The National Health Service’ compilation that was released last year.

“here’s a hidden track for u – unreleased vaccines song that u can order from our instagram now. all proceeds to hoods 4 heroes etc etc,” Young captioned the post on the band’s TikTok.

Take me to your internet disco/ Free me from my email chain,” he sang in the video, while playing acoustic guitar. “Want to dance like no one’s watching/ Deep inside my own domain.” Watch it below now.

As well as The Vaccines, Foals, Wolf Alice, Swim Deep, The Magic Gang, The Big Moon and more were among the bands to contribute to the charity compilation. The release raised money for specialised and reusable PPE respirators for frontline workers in hospitals.

The album, which was released in July, has now sold out.

Meanwhile, The Vaccines confirmed in December that they had finished mixing their fifth album – the follow-up to 2018’s ‘Combat Sports’. Posting on Twitter, they shared a photo that revealed the album will contain 13 songs and run to 47 minutes.

Speaking to NME in March 2020, Young teased that their new material would head in a heavier direction. “The new Vaccines album is heavier than anything we’ve ever done and it’s quite brutal in places,” he said. “I’m sure that’s a consequence of having made a pretty record [with side-project Halloweens].

When asked if by heavier he meant the record would be more punk, the frontman replied: “There’s lots of riffs. Yeah actually, there’s two punky songs on there. It’s weird, it’s the poppiest and most colourful record, but – actually, I’m gonna stop myself there. It just feels really heavy, it’s quite face-melting in places. Lots more screaming. It’s good, I think.”

It’s the end of an era as Hardwell drops his explosive grand finale radio show — Hardwell On Air 500.

The powerhouse mix runs a proper hour, featuring a dozen brand new IDs, the producer’s newly released “Bootshaus ID” as Jaxxwell (with Blasterjaxx), and a handful more of ID remixes of Hardwell favorites. Plus, music from Tommy Jayden & Artelax, Tim Hox, Dastic, Ewave, Arston, Dash Berlin & ANG, REGGIO x Rave Republic, and Dr Phunk.

It’s been nearly a decade since Hardwell On Air debuted in 2011, broadcasting from the Netherlands and shaking the airwaves with fist-pumping dance music. The radio show has championed the Hardwell sound, and showcased the best in big room, electro, progressive and more.

Hardwell has been operating under hiatus since 2018 — he’s still working on music, but has yet to return to the stage. In a 2020 interview, he touched on when and if he’ll make a comeback:

The honest answer is I don’t know. I’m working on a lot of music right now, I’m getting more satisfied every day when I come back to the studio. […] I wanna get that butterflies in my stomach feeling before I get on stage, but I want to get them right now in the studio. The moment I get that feeling, that crazy excitement, I will be back right away.

Robert Fripp and singer Toyah Wilcox share kitchen cover of Billy Idol’s ‘Rebel Yell’

King Crimson’s Robert Fripp and singer Toyah Willcox have shared another cover from their kitchen as part of an ongoing series.

The couple, who are married, launched their Sunday Lunch video series last year, sharing renditions of songs by Nirvana, David Bowie and more through Willcox’s YouTube channel.

Last week (January 10), the pair revealed a version of Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’ that saw Willcox perform from an exercise bike. That video soon went viral and the couple acknowledged its success at the start of their new video, in which they covered Billy Idol’s ‘Rebel Yell’.

“Last week you ‘racked’ up over 2.7million views and made the video trend worldwide,” a title screen read at the start of the video. “We are so very humbled. THANK YOU.”

The series then continued with Fripp and Willcox performing ‘Rebel Yell’ with Willcox dressed as a cheerleader and waving pom-poms around as Fripp played the guitar. Watch it below now.

So far this year, Fripp and Willcox have also covered Led Zeppelin’s 1971 classic ‘Black Dog’. They also shared a New Year’s message with their viewers in a separate video.

“For my 2021, I wish for an inclusive, equitable and compassionate society,” Fripp said in that clip. “And how I’m gonna get my wishes [is] by strapping on my guitar and rocking out like an uncontrollable fireball of rock fury.”

Last October, former King Crimson singer and bassist Gordon Haskell died aged 74. The late musician was asked by Fripp to join the band in 1970 following the departure of Greg Lake, their original vocalist.

Bill Rieflin, the former drummer of King Crimson, also passed away last March. He was 59 years old.

Martin Garrix Back in Studio with Go-To Collaborators John Martin & Michel Zitron [PHOTO]

Martin Garrix has stayed grinding in the studio through the pandemic — and most recently, he was spotted with go-to collaborators John Martin and Michel Zitron.

This same trio first teamed up on the 2016 STMPD RCRDS release “Now That I’ve Found You,” which features the Swedish singer-songwriter duo stylized as John & Michel. Zitron went on to collaborate with Garrix again for “Hold On” with Matisse & Sadko in 2019 and “Higher Ground” in 2020.

The screenshot below captured from Garrix’s Instagram story shows the producer kicked back in studio with the two in Stockholm. Although there’s no video recording of the session, we can almost guarantee they’re cooking up another Garrix hit together.

With every move he makes, Garrix continues to make headlines. Recently, he and Bebe Rexha hit one billion Spotify streams for their emotional banger, “In the Name of Love.” Meanwhile, he’s gearing up to release new music under his AREA 21 alias with Maejor.

As for what comes of this studio session, we’ll keep you updated. See below.
