Kanye West’s Yeezy brand sues intern for breaking NDA

Kanye West‘s apparel brand Yeezy is suing one of its summer interns after they posted confidential photos on Instagram.

It comes after the intern, Ryan Inwards, signed non-disclosure agreements that contained a $500,000 liquidated damages provision, according to a complaint filed Friday (January 15) in LA County Superior Court (per The Hollywood Reporter).

The NDAs prohibit disclosing or disseminating confidential information on social media, but Yeezy has claimed their intern shared non-public images on Instagram and hasn’t removed them even after the West’s company sent multiple cease and desist letters.

Inwards is being sued for breach of contract and conversion, and Yeezy is seeking the $500,000 in liquidated damages plus punitive damages because it believes he’s acting maliciously.

Yeezy is also seeking an injunction mandating that he turn over the images and be banned from similar posts in the future.

Last month, West released a surprise new Sunday Service Choir EP called ‘Emmanuel’, which was inspired by “ancient and Latin music”.

The rapper previously shared a surprise release at Christmas in 2019 with the Sunday Service Choir album ‘Jesus Is Born’.

The five-track ‘Emmanuel’ EP is a “celebration of the miracle of the birth of Jesus Christ” and is also credited to the Sunday Service Choir. It was executive produced by West and features a Christian prayer in ‘Requiem Aeternam’ and an interpretation of the hymn ‘Gloria’.

Meanwhile, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are reportedly planning to divorce, with sources claiming that the pair are currently living “separate lives”.

According to Page Six, “divorce is imminent” for the celebrity couple, with multiple close sources alleging that Kardashian has hired celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to represent her.

Local Residents Up In Arms Over Deadmau5 Drive-In Noise Levels

We’re used to hearing local residents complain about noise from nearby festivals — Electric Forest, Middlelands, the list goes on. Promoters are often careful when choosing where to throw an event because these complaints are not uncommon. Still, residents of Hutto in Texas, near to where Deadmau5 performed a drive-in show at the Brushy Creek Ampitheatre last Friday, Jan 8, were not pleased.

“We were in the living room and you could clearly hear the music,” said Kelly Verootis, who has lived in Hutto for eight years. “It’s disheartening. They said that after the last one that they would do their best to mitigate the sound experience for the neighboring communities. But it felt like it was worse.”

“Thank you for the feedback,” the amphitheatre responded in a post on social media. “The team works closely with the City of Hutto and Williamson County to obtain all the necessary permits and noise exemptions. Please direct message the City of Hutto with your concerns so they can address them directly.”

“Now that we have had two concerts with a significant amount of bass, I think the right thing to do for our neighbors is to try to figure out what we can do to solve the problem,” City Manager Warren Hutmacher said. “Our intent is to utilize the facility as intended, but we’ve got to do it in a more responsible manner that is respectful to our neighbors.”

Deadmau5 also responded to the backlash, saying, “Man, I’m sorry Hutto! I can sympathize… loud stuff near my house would bug TF out of me too… hopefully the engineers figure out a better solution for you. Let’s chalk this one up as a … stress test?”

The mau5 is scheduled to perform back-to-back shows at Belly Up Aspen in March, which were rescheduled from December last year.

Burgeoning downtempo producer Boku drops blissful single, ‘Fortune’ – Dancing Astronaut

Throughout the mid-2010’s, Ian Ring was busy at work with electronic pop duo Young Wonder. Now, after producing for the likes of Talos and Daithí, the Irish producer has taken his talents solo under his new downtempo moniker Boku. His first single of the new year, “Fortune,” is a synergistic blend of delicate synths, mesmeric vocal chops, and a subdued percussive rhythm that drives the track forward. “Fortune” is tied together with the sounds of summertime nature, as Boku explains:

“‘Fortune’ was born from playing with a chord progression on my Rhodes and manipulating field recordings. Those field recordings became a big part of the sound. I tried not to overanalyze anything when writing this record, and to just get lost in the creative flow and make decisions fast to capture the emotion I was feeling—and I think that sense of freedom and release really comes across in the music.”

“Fortune” is the first single from Boku’s forthcoming EP, to arrive at the end of January. The EP will include two more singles from Boku; these one-offs will be staggered throughout the month. The lead single arrives with a visualizer made by Conal Thomson and edited by Brendan Canty.

Neil Young announces new live album and concert film, ‘Way Down In The Rust Bucket’

Neil Young has announced a new live album and concert film ‘Way Down In The Rust Bucket’ – listen to a performance of ‘Country Home’ below.

The collection was recorded at a 1990 show Young played with Crazy Horse in Santa Cruz, California shortly after the arrival of ‘Ragged Glory’, the musician’s 18th studio album.

Set for release on February 26 via Reprise, ‘Way Down In The Rust Bucket’ captures the debut performances of tracks from that album, which came out in September 1990.

Fans will be able to get their hands on a 4xLP box set, a 2xCD set and a deluxe edition box set, with the latter format including a DVD, four LPs and two CDS. A digital release is also coming to the official Neil Young Archives site.

You can watch a trailer for the Bernard Shakey-directed Way Down In The Rust Bucket film above, as well as a live cut of ‘Country Home’.

“In true Crazy Horse fashion, the incendiary show ran across three sets and over three hours, with songs like ‘Love And Only Love’ and ‘Like A Hurricane’ hypnotically stretching past ten minutes,” a description reads.

“The Catalyst gig also marked the first time ‘Danger Bird’ – a cut from Young’s 1975 album ‘Zuma’ – was played for a live audience, thundering on into psychedelic six-string fireworks. Other live debuts on ‘Way Down In The Rust Bucket’ include ‘Surfer Joe And Moe The Sleaze’ ‘Love To Burn’, ‘Farmer John’, ‘Over And Over’, ‘Fuckin’ Up’, ‘Mansion On The Hill’ and ‘Love And Only Love’.”

Earlier this month it was revealed that Young had sold 50 per cent of the rights to his entire back catalogue in a landmark deal.

Young shared his previously unreleased album ‘Homegrown’ (from 1975) last May and ‘The Times’, an EP of reworked protest songs, last September.

Big Gigantic Offer Funky New Remix For “Kush” by Moody Good

It’s been two years since Moody Good dropped “Kush,” so seeing a remix now is a bit surprising. Even more surprising is who remixed it…

Big Gigantic have been known to expand their sound every once in a while, and taking on a remix for a veritable dubstep leviathan is definitely new territory. While they’ve had some heavier artists remix their songs, this is the first time (as far as we can tell) that they’ve flipped the script.

That being said, “Kush” in its original form already adopts a rather novel rhythm and structure, and it fortunately made it pretty conducive to Big G’s style. The darker dubstep synths are replaced with a more shimmering, funk-style drop, the drums feel a bit more muted, and the track is completely transformed.

Kumarion delivers ‘Want It – VIP’ on 10-track remix pack [Stream] – Dancing Astronaut

Anyone who has been listening to dance music, watching livestreams, or generally keeping up with trends in the electronic industry can assuredly say that they have heard up-and-comer Kumarion‘s “Want It” more times than they can count. One might infer that a song released by a lesser-known artist in February of 2020 would almost immediately have nosedived, but in Kumarion’s case, this would be incorrect.

Released via Jadū Dala, the bass heater has garnered support from industry titans such as Martin Garrix, JOYRYDE, CloZee, and Louis The Child, but perhaps most notably, the track landed on SoundCloud’s most-played mix of 2020, RL Grime‘s “Halloween IX.” The grimy and seductive hit begins softly with a smattering of syncopated vocal chops, creeping synths, and a steady beat that carries into a smooth piano progression. Just when listeners think the song is going to be a downtempo electro delight, Kumarion introduces a stable build that eventually explodes into an escapade of reverberating bass, making abundantly clear to dance music fanatics why the song has seen the success it has over the past year.

If fans thought it couldn’t get any better than that, “Want It” now has an entire remix album dedicated to it, featuring Kumarion’s VIP as well as eight other renditions that will make listeners’ brains quake inside their skulls, to put it kindly. Listen to the remix pack below, and stay tuned for what else Kumarion has in store.

Watch this toddler headbang in time to Tool song ‘Invincible’

A video of a young boy rocking out to Tool‘s ‘Invincible’ has emerged online – and his rhythm is rather impressive.

As spotted by Consequence of Sound, the clip shows the metal-loving toddler rock and headbang along to the band’s ‘Fear Inoculum’ that’s playing on the family’s TV.

The video was uploaded in December and, as CoS notes, only had 20 views but it’s since shot up to more than 8,000. The Batman-pyjama-wearing boy appears to really connect with the song – sippy cup in hand – and bopping and nodding his head pretty well in time with the track’s beats.

Other metal and rock acts have seen young fans show off their moves to their songs. Last year – before the coronavirus pandemic halted live music – a five-year-old Slipknot fan went viral after showing off his amazing air drumming skills at a UK show.

And in 2019, the Foo Fighters invited a five-year-old on stage after spotting his amazing moves in the crowd at a Belfast gig.

Tool released ‘Fear Inoculum’, their first album in 13 years, in 2019.

Reviewing the record, NME‘s James McMahon wrote that it’s “at times, a languid and blissful work – one that will richly reward future listens. They are the ‘feeling person’s’ metal band.”

Meanwhile, the band’s singer Maynard James Keenan, has criticised people for tending “to be fairly arrogant” with regards to their behaviour during the coronavirus pandemic.
