Watch Burna Boy perform ‘Way Too Big’ on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’

Burna Boy has appeared on the latest episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers, performing ‘Way Too Big’ from his 2020 album, ‘Twice As Tall’.

Appearing on last night’s episode (January 4), Burna Boy donned an all-white outfit and was elevated on a makeshift podium.

Backed by a live band, the Nigerian rapper oozed confidence as he relayed the song’s themes of his run-in with success in the music industry, singing “I’m way too big/Way too big to be fucking with you, to be fucking with you/Because I’m way too smart/Way too smart to be falling in your trap”.

Burna Boy surprise-released ‘Twice As Tall’ in August, a few days after announcing its release date and tracklist.

A self-produced effort, the album featured guest collaborations with the likes of Coldplay‘s Chris Martin, Stormzy, Youssou N’Dour and more.

As well as ‘Way Too Big’, the album featured lead single ‘Wonderful’ along with 13 other tracks.

In October 2020, Burna Boy released ’20:10:20′, a tribute to protesters in his native Nigeria who were killed in the Lagos massacre at the city’s Lekki Toll Gate.

In the song, Burna Boy condemned the police brutality perpetrated by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Providing a statement at the time of the song’s release, Burna Boy said, “The proceeds of this song will be used to support families of victims and people suffering affliction as a result of the Lekki shootings.

“Rest in peace to all the beautiful lives lost.”

At the 2020 MOBO Awards last month, Burna Boy clinched the award for Best International Act.

Now, the track is complete and it’s coming out this Friday! Obviously this will be What So Not’s first material of 2021, but it’s also his first release since 2019’s “20:25” with Flux Pavilion. Best of all, the remix sounds absolutely fantastic, meshing Run The Jewels’ uncompromising intensity and WSN’s penchant for beautiful melodies and builds.

2021 Grammys postponed due to COVID-19 concerns – Dancing Astronaut

With a little more than three weeks’ notice, the Grammy Awards have made a last-minute decision to postpone their 2021 show scheduled for January 31, with sources citing concerns over the unrelenting COVID-19 spread around the United States, specifically the Los Angeles area, as the reasoning.

While the award show’s organizers have not officially disclosed the news as well as a new confirmed date, sources claim that the Grammys are currently looking towards a rescheduled night in March. The Grammys had originally detailed a ground plan with no live audience, as well as only allowing presenters or performers in person at the STAPLES Center, although it’s unclear at the time of writing if that will remain intact.

Madeon, Baauer, Disclosure, Diplo and SIDEPIECE, KAYTRANADA, and more will now have to hold on a little while longer to find out whether or not their nominations in the Dance/Electronic field will turn into certified winners.

“It’s old energy to me”

SZA has reflected in a new interview about not winning a Grammy in 2018, calling it “old energy”.

The singer was perceived by many to have been snubbed by the Recording Academy when she lost the Best New Artist category to Alessia Cara.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, SZA said she had “never had dreams of being nominated for a Grammy” when she was growing up. “I thought I was going to be a gymnast and a fucking business accountant somewhere. Or working at Nike corporate or some shit in Portland. Who knows, but something that involved a power suit. So it’s not a heavy burden.

“Once you’ve been nominated and lost, you’re very much free because you’re not concerned. I passed that threshold years ago – it’s an old energy to me. Why would I be mad?”

Cara’s win at the Grammys 2018 was heavily criticised, with some questioning her validity as a “new artist” when her debut album ‘Know-It-All’ was released in 2015.

Meanwhile, on Christmas Day 2020 SZA shared a new song called ‘Good Days’. The track features backing vocals from Grammy nominated London musician Jacob Collier and is the b-side to ‘Hit Different’, which was released earlier last year.

In July, the musician shared her mum’s reaction to the new music she’d been working on. “Such rich variations in texture, tone and tempos,” SZA’s mum told her daughter via text message.

“And I was surprised and touched by the sweet homage to your granny. Love it and love you and thank you so much for stepping out of what’s comfortable to share it with me. I feel so special.”

Tomorrowland NYE Theme Song Was Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams”

If there were a theme song for Tomorrowland’s NYE celebration, it was definitely Fleetwood Mac‘s “Dreams.”

The most-played out track of the digital festival has experienced a resurgence due to David Guetta and Morten‘s dance floor revival of the classic track. It’s actually a cover with rising star Lanie Gardner with much homage to the original.

Guetta rinsed the track out twice during Tomorrowland’s NYE live stream, as himself and his techno side project, Jack Back. In addition, Diplo mashed up “Dreams” with the recent re-release of OFFAIAH‘s “Private Show.”

The night saw performances from more than 25 renowned artists on 4 mesmerizing digital stages, including Armin van Buuren, Charlotte de Witte, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Major Lazer, Martin Garrix, Boys NoizeTchami, and more.

Pom Poko announce talk show to launch new album ‘Cheater’

Pom Poko have announced a special talk show to launch their upcoming new album ‘Cheater’.

The event will be held in place of the Norwegian band being able to tour in support of the release, which will arrive on January 15 via Bella Union.

The talk show will take place on January 13 and is described in a press release as “where Conan O’Brien/Letterman/Oprah meets The Muppet Show”.

Pom Poko will feature as the guests on the talk show and will give “unique live performances” of some of ‘Cheater’’s tracks. The stream will last for around 30 minutes and will cost $2 (£1.47) to access. It will also be available to watch for two weeks after the original broadcast.

Ticket buyers will also be given a link to the exclusive pre-sale for the band’s European tour, which is scheduled for late 2021 and will be announced next week. You can find more information and buy tickets here.

‘Cheater’ was originally due for release in November, but was postponed due to unexpected delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The record follows the group’s 2019 debut album ‘Birthday’, which NME described as “gloriously unhinged”.

“It’s a triumph of joy and instinct over good taste and common sense,” said the review. “You’ll love it, or you’ll hate it, you’ll have no idea what’s going on, but revel in the fact that a debut like this is allowed to exist.”

So far, the band have shared three songs from ‘Cheater’ in ‘Andrew’, ‘My Candidacy’ and ‘Like A Lady’.
