STMPD RCRDS confirms Martin Garrix’s Tomorrowland NYE set served up 10 incoming label IDs – Dancing Astronaut

Between Martin Garrix‘s Tomorrowland Around the World showing and his one-hour marathon for the festival’s New Year’s Eve follow-up, there’s been a crushing measure of unnamed music introduced from the STMPD RCRDS vaults—18 IDs, to be exact. Garrix had originally disclosed that his Melodia stage appearance on 2020’s final evening would serve up nine unidentified releases, and on 2021’s inaugural day, STMPD RCRDS validated that claim with one more addition, bringing the grand tally to an even 10 IDs.

Pulling out Shazam and attempting to pinpoint the names behind the IDs in real-time is always entertaining, and Martin Garrix’s hour on New Year’s Eve as the clock crept towards midnight brought out the best in that. While we await official confirmation of just who is involved with the IDs in the coming weeks and months, a handful—if not all—of the unspecified tracks now seem to have a potential name attached. Fans, as well as some artists themselves, entered STMPD RCRDS’ Instagram comments to recognize Matisse & Sadko during the introduction, Julian Jordan at the 37-minute mark, Bleu Clair and OOTORO’s collaboration immediately following, DubVision at the set’s back end alongside the “Burn Out” acapella, as well as other speculated and confirmed inclusions from Aspyer, Julian Calor, Seth Hills, MNNR, and maybe even something from Ytram.

It remains to be seen if these predictions hold true, but all 10 of the IDs can be previewed on STMPD RCRDS’ post below, allowing fans to decide for themselves. Tomorrowland has also now officially made the relive function of the New Year’s Eve event available through January 14.

Harry Styles and Phoebe Waller-Bridge dance up a storm in ‘Treat People With Kindness’ video

Harry Styles has shared a video for his new single ‘Treat People With Kindness’ – watch it below.

Taken from the former One Direction singer’s second album, the Grammy-nominated ‘Fine Line’, the video sees Styles put on his dancing shoes and dance up a storm alongside Fleabag creator and Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

‘Treat People With Kindness’ is the sixth single to be taken from ‘Fine Line’. It follows the tracks ‘Lights Up’, ‘Falling’, ‘Golden’ and the two Number One singles ‘Watermelon Sugar’ and ‘Adore You’.

Watch the Ben and Gabe Turner-directed video for ‘Treat People With Kindness’ below:

In a four-star review of ‘Fine Line’, NME‘s Hannah Mylrea said: “Styles’ second album is a total joy. It’s an elegant combination of the ex-boybander’s influences, slick modern pop and his own roguish charm.”

Last month, Styles announced that he has postponed his 2021 UK and European tour indefinitely.

The pop star was set to hit the road in support of his second solo album ‘Fine Line’ this April, but he postponed the dates until February and March 2021 due to the coronavirus crisis.

In other Harry Styles news, the pop star has revealed that he is a major investor in Manchester forthcoming arena venue Co-Op Live.

The 23,500-capacity venue, whose name was revealed in September, is the brainchild of the Oak View Group, who announced their plans last month following approval from the local council. Once completed, Co-op Live will be the UK’s largest indoor concert venue.

Meanwhile, Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge has confirmed that the show will never return, having previously expressed a desire to revisit it in the future.

The acclaimed sitcom ended in 2019 and saw Waller-Bridge winning Emmys  for Outstanding Comedy Writer, Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series – the latter seeing her becoming the first Brit to win it in 38 years.

France Tightens COVID-19 Curfew As Police Were Unable To Shut Down 2,500-Person Illegal Rave

France is tightening up its curfew related to coronavirus (COVID-19) as reports of illegal raves continue.

The French government announced today that curfew has moved forward by two hours in the 15 most-affected areas, from 8 PM to 6 PM local time.

“The virus is continuing to spread in France… but with a disparity between regions,” Spokesman Gabriel Attal announced. If the situation were to deteriorate further in certain areas, we will take the necessary decisions.”

Attal also confirmed theaters, cinemas, and concert halls will not reopen January 7 as planned.

Meanwhile, underground raves have been sparking major concerns, especially over the holiday. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said 132,000 police patrolled France over the New Year to help ensure security and enforce curfew.

Police were unable to shut down a New Year celebration in the northwestern French region of Brittany with 2,500 attendees. An investigation into the event is currently underway.

In Marseille, another illegal party of 300 people was successfully broken up by police. Three suspected organizers were arrested and over 150 people got off with warnings.

Hardwell and Blasterjaxx reassert seat on bigroom’s throne to reawaken long-lost Bootshaus 2017 ID – Dancing Astronaut

Hardwell is back. Sort of.

More than two calendar turns have come and gone since Hardwell last appeared on the music end to affirm his tenured standing as bigroom’s king, and exactly 10 months have lapsed since we last heard from the Revealed Recordings boss on social media. That status quo now is making a partial turn for the best for an unthinkably auspicious day one of 2021. In a completely unprecedented move, Hardwell and Blasterjaxx have formed a new one-two bigroom force of nature, Jaxxwell, to reawaken their long-lost collaboration almost three years to the date that it debuted at Germany’s staple venue, Bootshaus.

Blasterjaxx subtly reinstated the ID during Revealed Recordings’ virtual festival in September 2020 and confirmed thereafter that it would “soon” release, but all were left in the dark to speculate about when exactly “soon” was. Properly labeled “Bootshaus ID,” the linkup trilogy finale between Hardwell and Blasterjaxx (excluding “Fifteen” and following “Going Crazy” and “Bigroom Never Dies“), is concrete evidence that the genre that the two outfits helped pioneer is alive and well. While everyone is overwhelmingly thankful that the ID has been unchained as we wave goodbye to 2020, it’s currently unclear what, precisely, “Jaxxwell” entails, and if it alludes to an official relationship between the two or simply serves as a way for Hardwell’s hiatus to remain intact. Only time will tell, but for now, let’s celebrate New Year’s Day with some god-tier bigroom house.

Liam Gallagher calls for Oasis reunion in New Year message to Noel

Liam Gallagher has called for an Oasis reunion in a New Year message to brother and former bandmate Noel.

The Brit pop giants famously split in 2009 when ongoing tensions between Liam and Noel reached their climax during a festival show in Paris.

Since then, Liam has expressed his desire for the band to reunite on several occasions, including in March last year when he asked Noel if he would consider getting the band back together for a one-off charity gig once the coronavirus crisis ends.

Liam told NME during his Big Read interview in February last year that an Oasis reunion is “gonna happen”.

“Believe you me – it’s gonna happen very fucking soon because he’s greedy and he loves money and he knows that it’s got to happen soon or it won’t happen,” he said, referring to a potential big payday for he and his brother.

Extending an olive branch to Noel once again, Liam last night (December 31) admitted that he loves his brother “long time” and tweeted that “2021 is our year”, teasing that this year could be the year that Oasis reform.

In 2019, Foo Fighters suggested to the crowd during their Reading Festival performance that they should start a petition to get Oasis back together.

The idea came after it was pointed out that Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins had stuck a photograph of Liam and Noel Gallagher to his kick drum.

“One of these days we’ll get Oasis back. One of these days,” Hawkins told the Reading crowd, after Dave Grohl took over on the drums for a rendition of Queen’s ‘Under Pressure’.

“We’re trying,” Grohl claimed.

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher‘s ‘Down By The River Thames’ livestream event aired last month, and during the performance he shared a few words aimed at Rishi Sunak and Boris Johnson.

Gallagher and his band performed while floating down a barge on London’s River Thames for an event streamed exclusively on MelodyVR. It arrived after fans initially spotted the former Oasis frontman performing on the river in November.

SLANDER, Dylan Matthew open 2021 collaborative catalog with Greenice’s orchestral cover of ‘Love Is Gone’ – Dancing Astronaut

On December 5, 2020, an Instagram user by the handle of @greenice.rocks enthralled electronic enthusiasts on the platform with an IGTV video of a full orchestra performance of SLANDER and Dylan Matthew‘s now-classic “Love Is Gone.” After amassing thousands of views and attracting the attention of SLANDER’s Derek Andersen and Scott Land, the orchestral cover of the landmark 2019 love song has hit streaming platforms, offering an unprecedentedly poignant take on the Gud Vibrations release, which, to date, has only been available in the original and an acoustic format.

Just three seconds short of an eight-minute runtime, the orchestral rendition underscores the malleability of SLANDER and Matthew’s fateful meetup while expanding its emotive character. The cinematic cover extends 2020’s trend of orchestral conversions into the new year and can be found in its full symphonic glory below.

Tim Burgess is hosting a listening party for MF DOOM’s ‘Born Like This’ later today

Tim Burgess has announced that he’ll be hosting a special tribute listening party for MF DOOM‘s ‘Born Like This’ album this afternoon (January 1).

  • READ MORE: The best things we’ve learned from Tim Burgess’ Twitter ‘listening parties’

It comes after it was revealed last night (December 31) that the legendary rapper and producer (real name Daniel Dumile) had died two months ago at the age of 49.

His wife Jasmine confirmed that he passed away on October 31, 2020. His cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

“To Dumile. The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for,” Jasmine said in in an Instagram post. “Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off. Thank you for showing how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be.”

She continued: “My world will never be the same without you. Words will never express what you and Malachi mean to me, I love both and adore you always. May THE ALL continue to bless you, our family and the planet.

“All my Love. Jasmine. Transitioned October 31,2020.”

Burgess, who has been organising listening parties for various albums since the UK went into its first coronavirus lockdown earlier this year, took to Twitter to announce that he would be hosting a listening party for DOOM’s sixth and final solo album, 2009’s ‘Born Like This’.

The Charlatans frontman’s listening party takes place at 4:00pm GMT, and will be followed by further events for The Charlatans’ ‘Live It Like You Love It’ and Fatboy Slim‘s ‘You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby’.

Other Tim’s Twitter Listening Parties that have taken place in recent months include Teenage Fanclub‘s ‘Songs From Northern Britain’, MGMT‘s ‘Little Dark Age’, The Charlatans’ ‘Who We Touch’, and Glass Animals‘ ‘How To Be A Human Being’. You can view an archive of the listening parties here.

Speaking to NME about the online gatherings he’s curated, Burgess said they were “distractions” for people in this current time.

“It’s an inclusive thing and it’s fun, which is something we need to have,” he explained. “It’s at 10pm for a reason, as a distraction from the Ten O’Clock News – anyone can watch the news at any other time of the day, so it’s not a protest. It’s less than 45 minutes, everyone seems to be able to say what they wanna say, it’s a great way for fans to find out what goes on behind the making of an album.”

Meanwhile, a chance encounter with Tim Burgess has propelled one Manchester band onto BBC Radio 6 Music – as well as a slot at next year’s Kendal Calling.
