Every American who wants a COVID-19 vaccine will be able to get one by June 2021, says Pfizer – Dancing Astronaut

Pfizer announced it’s second deal with the U.S. government in which they will provide an additional 100 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine, along with orders for another vaccine made by Moderna. The additional 100 million doses will cost the government $1.95 billion.

Under its new deal, Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech will provide an additional 70 million doses by the end of June and another 30 million by the end of July. Pfizer’s vaccine was previously given an Emergency Use Authorization distinction from the Food and Drug Administration as it’s effectiveness continues to be studied to determine how well it works under real-world conditions. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said in a statement,

“This new federal purchase can give Americans even more confidence that we will have enough supply to vaccinate every American who wants it by June 2021.”

Earlier this month, Pfizer’s vaccine was among the first to get approved for widespread use in the U.S. Individuals who will receive priority vaccination include health care workers and nursing home residents. In moderation, more Americans will have access to the free vaccines, which have been shown to be highly effective in clinical studies undertaken so far.

Ariana Grande sends Secret Santa gifts to young hospital patients in Manchester

Ariana Grande has brought some Christmas cheer to hundreds of young hospital patients in Manchester.

The pop star has surprised hundreds of children at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) with an Amazon voucher each worth £100.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, the father of one of the patents said his daughter was “absolutely delighted” with the kind gesture, describing the ‘7 Rings’ singer as “a wonderful human being”.

“She said, ‘look dad, I’ve got a £100 voucher from Ariana Grande’,” he continued. “It was in a little personalised box with no message on it and no note to say who it’s from. It’s such a lovely gesture and there’s no publicity around it so you know it’s genuine.

“It’s brought a lot of joy after everything that’s gone in with the pandemic this year. It’s been a tough year with my daughter being in hospital. The staff there are great and so hard working.”

Grande’s affiliation with Manchester began after a terror attack ended her concert in the city in 2017. The day after the attack she tweeted: “Broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don’t have words.”

A fortnight later she returned to Manchester to visit survivors in hospital as well as the families who had lost loved ones in the attack.

Grande then staged the One Love benefit concert at Old Trafford cricket ground, which raised over £2 million for the families who were affected by the attack.

Earlier this year, the pop star shared a message of solidarity to her fans ahead of the third anniversary of the Manchester bombing.

“Not a day goes by that this doesn’t affect you and all of us still,” Grande wrote on Instagram. “I will be thinking of you all week and weekend.”

LadBaby score third consecutive Christmas Number One

LadBaby have scored their third consecutive Christmas Number One single with ‘Don’t Stop Me Eatin’’.

YouTuber Mark Hoyle and his wife Roxanne first reached the top of the festive charts in 2018 with ‘We Built This City’, following up with more success with ‘I Love Sausage Rolls’ in 2019.

Their latest single beat the likes of Mariah Carey, Wham!, and The Kunts’ Boris Johnson protest song to the top spot. ‘Don’t Stop Me Eatin’’ sold 158,000 copies in its first week to secure the Number One position, making it the fastest-selling single of the year. Proceeds from the single went to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust.

The track’s success also means LadBaby now join The Beatles and Spice Girls as the only acts who have scored three Christmas Number Ones in UK chart history.

In a statement to the Official Charts Company, LadBaby said: “From the bottom of our hearts, we just want to say thank you again to everybody. We can’t believe that, a third year on, we’ve had so much support yet again. We’re trying to raise money for an amazing cause, so thank you. Merry Christmas to everyone and don’t stop believin’ – that things are going to get better. 2021 is going to be better for everyone.”

Finishing just behind ‘Don’t Stop Eatin’’ was Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ at Number Two and Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’ at Number Three. Jess Glynne’s cover of Donny Hathaway’s ‘This Christmas’ placed at Number Four.

The Kunts’ ‘Boris Johnson Is A Fucking Cunt’ landed at Number Five after a last-minute push to get it to the top of the Christmas charts in response to the Prime Minister’s U-turn on coronavirus Christmas restrictions last weekend (December 20).

Meanwhile, in the Official UK Albums Chart, Paul McCartney took the top spot with his new solo album ‘McCartney III’, which was released last week (December 18).

“I just want to say Happy Christmas, Happy New Year, and a big thank you to everyone who helped get my record to Number One in the album charts,” told the Official Charts Company.

Good Morning Mix: Begin the day in Belgium with Armin van Buuren’s Tomorrowland 2013 set

Though each set that’s led Armin van Buuren to step on a Tomorrowland stage has been special, his July 27, 2013 slot at the Boom, Belgium-based festival’s main stage was slightly more so. “I just want to make a very special announcement,” the trance figurehead told the crowd as he stepped up to the decks. “I just came straight from the hospital, and I want the world to welcome…my wife just gave birth to a son, so I’d like to dedicate my whole set to my new son.” As the rain poured down, van Buuren proceeded to fill the once-in-a-lifetime one-hour and 33-second set with a diverse set of selects ranging from the Shura Vlasov mashup of the Armada Music head’s “Coming Home” and OneRepublic‘s “If I Lose Myself” to “This Is What It Feels Like” and even a bootleg of “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

Today, Dancing Astronaut ventures back to this fateful evening to not only wish Armin van Buuren a happy birthday but also kick off a Tomorrowland New Year’s Eve Good Morning Mix series. In the time leading up to Tomorrowland’s virtual NYE event, Dancing Astronaut will revisit Tomorrowland sets from artists slated to perform at the dance-focused finale to 2020. Follow the journey with our Tomorrowland NYE Good Morning Mix series, and learn why Tomorrowland’s Around The World festival was named our top digital event of 2020 here.

Kanye West releases Sunday Service Choir’s ‘Emmanuel’ EP

Kanye West has surprise-released a new Sunday Service Choir EP called ‘Emmanuel’, which was inspired by “ancient and Latin music”.

The rapper previously shared a surprise release last Christmas in the Sunday Service Choir album ‘Jesus Is Born’.

The five-track ‘Emmanuel’ EP is a “celebration of the miracle of the birth of Jesus Christ” and is also credited to the Sunday Service Choir. It was executive produced by West and features a Christian prayer in ‘Requiem Aeternam’ and an interpretation of the hymn ‘Gloria’.

Listen to ‘Emmanuel’ below now.

Last year, West was reported to have said he was “done” with secular music and would only release gospel music from that point forward. He later took offence when Drake questioned whether he would return to non-religious music in the future.

“I take offence when somebody calls me secular,” West said at a Sunday Service session in LA. “Y’all can look at the domes that we was building, affordable homes, y’all call that bizarre. Y’all can take the picture of me painting it silver, y’all can call that what y’all want.

“But don’t call me secular ’cause secular is trying to say that I’ll do anything for anyone other than Christ. That’s where they got it messed up. That’s where they got it twisted.”

Meanwhile, the rapper was the most-Googled artist of 2020 in the UK. He topped the list from the search engine ahead of the likes of Grimes, Bugzy Malone and Girls Aloud‘s Sarah Harding.
