Armin van Buuren releases emotionally dynamic ‘Euthymia’ EP – Dancing Astronaut

Armin van Buuren recently shared his 17th annual A State of Trance Year Mix album and now, he’s wrapping up 2020 with a seven-track extended play by the name of Euthymia. The EP debuts four new tracks and calls forth previously released ballads such as “Need You Now,” featuring Jake Reese, “Feel Something,” featuring Duncan Laurence, and van Buuren’s newly released single with Avalan, “Should I Wait.”

The Dutch megastar is accompanied by a variety of talent, working with Garibay on “Manzi” and featuring Shari Short and Robin Vane on “Worlds.” He also reunites with singer James Newman, notable for his work on 2018’s “Therapy.” That Newman-assisted anthem is now succeeded by “Slow Lane.” van Buuren said of Euthymia,

“Each of the tracks on this EP was finished during the COVID period, representing a feeling I’ve had. These difficult times have helped me realize how lucky I am to be doing what I do, that there’s no reason to stray from the path I’ve chosen to take. It has always been about good music and having a lot of fun in the studio for me, and the Euthymia EP is my way of cherishing where I’m at musically right now. It’s where I find my internal calm and contentment, as reflected by its title. I hope this EP brings you some light in these strange times, and I hope to be able to share these tracks with you on a dance floor somewhere soon.”

“Euthymia” is defined as “a tranquil mental state or mood,” and the trance legend’s long-time fans will expectedly be content with Euthymia‘s title track, which brandishes the hypnotic, rapturing capabilities that skyrocketed him to stardom while contributing to the serenity that the EP’s title references. The EP follows van Buuren’s Hollow Mask Illusion, released in September, and offers standout genre crossover mixing deep, pop, trance, house, and progressive all within seven tracks that further display Armin’s continuously evolving sound.

Euthymia is out now via Armada Music.

Watch Paul McCartney become a one man band in ‘Find My Way’ music video

Paul McCartney has proven himself – once again – as a jack of all trades in the new music video for his song ‘Find My Way’.

Directed by famed filmmaker Roman Coppola, the video shows McCartney playing every instrument on the song – including guitar, drums and piano – in a collage of footage taken by a staggering 46 cameras.

Watch the video for ‘Find My Way’ below.

‘Find My Way’ is the first song from McCartney’s latest album ‘McCartney III’ to receive a music video. Much like ‘McCartney’ and ‘McCartney II’ before it, the former Beatle is at the helm of every instrument on every song.

In a review of the album, NME‘s Mark Beaumont wrote that ‘McCartney III’ “acts as a signifier and motivation for what can be achieved” in the music industry once the COVID-19 vaccine is distributed.

“If future archaeologists take this three-album series as a significant marker of his solo half-century, they’ll conclude that Paul McCartney never stopped liberating.”

The album was released last Friday (December 18) after it was delayed from December 11. The date initially clashed with the release of Taylor Swift‘s second album of the year, ‘Evermore‘, so she moved it to avoid a clash.

“I did the Rolling Stone cover with Taylor Swift, and she just emailed me recently, and she said, ‘I wasn’t telling anyone, but I’ve got another album,’” McCartney told Howard Stern. “And she said, ‘So I was going to put it out on my birthday.’

“And then she said, ‘But I found out you were going to put [yours] out on the 10th. So I moved it to the 18th.’ And then she found out we were coming out on the 18th so she moved back to the 10th. So I mean, you know, people do keep out of each other’s way. It’s a nice thing to do.”

Nitti Gritti and Dr. Fresch team up for cascading new single ‘Cold Day in Hell’ – Dancing Astronaut

Live performances can feel quite far away these days, but not when Nitti Gritti and Dr. Fresch join together, as “Cold Day in Hell,” which transports listeners to a packed live show at the peak of a heavy-hitting bass set, shows. The track is filled with methodical builds that yield unrelenting and mechanical synth-infused breaks. Both producers are known for their dubstep drops and heavy hitting bass notes, and “Cold Day in Hell” is no exception.

Looking back at the year in review, Nitti Gritti has had a busy 2020, releasing a steady stream of music throughout the year as both himself and under his SIDEPIECE project with Party Favor. Dr. Fresch can speak to a similarly large output, most recently teaming up with Martin Hørger for “Take A Step Back.” “Cold Day in Hell” is a fitting finale to 2020 from both producers, and fortunately, it’s out now via Nitti Gritti Records.

Burial shares new 12-minute track ‘Chemz’

Burial has shared a new single, ‘Chemz’, from a vinyl EP set for release next year.

The track is a 12-minute rave, switching through several different distinct parts all topped with his signature pitch-shifted vocals. ‘Chemz’ is the first part of the forthcoming vinyl EP with the second, ‘Dolphinz’, to arrive with the physical release on “April 2nd or thereabouts”.

Listen to ‘Chemz’ below.

The track follows his collaborative double A-side singles with Thom Yorke and Four Tet, ‘Her Revolution’ and ‘His Rope’, earlier this month. The pair of tracks were originally only available on black-label vinyl, going on sale in London record stores Sounds of the Universe and Phonica as the UK lockdown lifted and record stores were allowed to re-open.

Copies of the vinyl were extremely limited, and sold out quickly. The tracks were then added to streaming services a week later.

‘Chemz’ is however Burial’s first solo original material since last year’s single for Adult Swim, ‘Old Tape’, and the compilation ‘Tunes 2011 to 2019’ – drawing together almost every single EP or single release over the preceding eight years, excluding ‘Rodent’.

The mysterious producer has not released a full-length studio album since 2007’s ‘Untrue’.

Get lost in Imanbek and Goodboys’ ‘Goodbye’ – Dancing Astronaut

Kazakh producer Imanbek saw a momentous rise into notoriety just six months into his music career, thanks to his unofficial remix of SAINt JHN’s “Roses” catching fire and going viral. Now, the producer, declared one of Dancing Astronaut’s Artists to Watch in 2021, channels the same sound and energy that struck in his first release with “Goodbye,” a collaborative effort with Goodboys.

“Goodbye” is a brilliant blend of ear-catching vocals infused with a pulsing house drop that is suitable for both radio play and live performance. The energy of the single, a humming bassline, and building synths keep the track moving out of Imanbek and Goodboys’ studios and onto streaming platforms. “Goodbye” is out now via Effective Records.
