Tracklist and Release Date for Cyberpunk 2077’s Soundtrack Announced

After suffering a number of delays, the video game community is cautiously awaiting the release of one of the most anticipated games in recent memory, Cyberpunk 2077. Currently scheduled to hit the shelves early next month, the game will be a delight for music fans as it includes original tunes from Grimes, SOPHIE, Nina Kraviz, Run The Jewels, and more.

The open-world game offers a number of celebrity cameos, including the prominently-featured star of The Matrix and John Wick series, Keanu Reeves. In addition to Reeves, the game will also boast appearances from some of the artists included on the soundtrack. While details are still scarce, we know that Grimes will be included as an in-game character after she leaked information on her appearance earlier in the year. Kraviz, on the other hand, shared an official screenshot of her character in the game on Twitter, leading some to believe that we may see appearances from many of the game’s musical guests.

Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore delivers transporting first single from forthcoming EP, ‘The Third Chimpanzee’ – Dancing Astronaut

Depeche Mode‘s Martin Gore has announced a new five-track solo EP titled The Third Chimpanzee, simultaneously releasing the first single, “Mandrill.”

“Mandrill” is comprised of industrial synths that come together to form a dark and otherworldly atmosphere. The tense production finds listeners engulfed in an aural experience that finds oneself on edge; as the song progresses, it never breaks into a lighter moment, instead prevailing as the cinematic soundtrack to an alien war zone or intense manhunt.

In a statement about the EP, Gore shares,

“The first track I recorded had a sound that wasn’t human. It sounded primate-like. I decided to name it ‘Howler,’ after a monkey. Then, when it came time to name the EP, I remembered reading the book The Rise and Fall of the Third Chimpanzee. It all made sense to call it that, as the EP was made by one of the third chimpanzees.”

The EP will be out in full on January 29 via Mute.

Leisure centre Oasis took their name from closes down

The leisure centre that gave Oasis their name has closed down for good, it has been announced.

The Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon was the inspiration behind the band’s moniker, Liam Gallagher suggesting they use it instead of their previous name The Rain after seeing it listed on an Inspiral Carpets tour poster.

Although Oasis themselves never performed at the space, Noel Gallagher visited it in 1991 when he was a roadie on the aforementioned Inspiral Carpets tour.

The venue, which includes a swimming pool, slides and wave machine, has closed after more than 40 years in operation because of the coronavirus pandemic. Its operators said the financial impact of two national lockdowns had made it impossible to continue.

Another Oasis-related venue is facing closure due to the ongoing pandemic in the band’s hometown. Manchester’s 42nd Street nightclub launched a crowdfunder earlier this month (November 4) in a bid to raise £60,000 to keep its doors open.

Located on Bootle St, the late-night indie venue is known for championing bands such as Oasis, The Libertines and The Strokes since opening back in 1990, as well as iconic Manchester groups like The Smiths, Joy Division and Stone Roses.

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher is set to perform a livestream gig next month (December 5). The ‘Down By The River Thames’ show will air exclusively on MelodyVR and will see the star performing from a barge sailing down the London waterway.

Accompanied by his full band, the set will see LG performing a mixture of iconic songs, fan favourites and a few surprises spanning his solo career and his legendary tenure as Oasis frontman.

GRiZ and Subtronics’ “Griztronics” Added to Fortnite’s In-Game Radio

Back in August, one of the world’s biggest video games, Fortnite, released a new update that added cars to the game. While it offered a distinct change of pace to the traditional gameplay, it also opened the door to even more musical crossovers with the introduction of in-game radio stations.

Chances are if you attended a bass music show in 2019 or used TikTok at all, you’ve been exposed to GRiZ and Subtronics‘ infectious collaboration “Griztronics.” Back in the days of actually attending concerts in-person, the song was played in nearly every set that featured trap and dubstep music. Now, fans can get sucked deeper into its orbit after their collaborative smash hit was added to one of Fortnite‘s radio stations. GRiZ took to Twitter to share the news, to the delight of his Fortnite-loving fans.
