Papa Khan completes ‘Blossom’ EP rollout [Stream]

After posting a 26-second preview of his viral track “Rain” in June and releasing “Rain” And “Diary of a poor kid” in October, Papa Khan has now delivered the project from which they hail in full. That endeavor, his four-track Blossom EP, takes a broad step forward in the context of dubstep’s sound design and arrangement. The EP is uniquely fitted with vocal-less features, directing listeners’ attention to the emotional ambiance created by Khan’s multilayered chord progressions, cinematic pads, and arpeggiated melodic rhythms.

The EP’s two previously unreleased inclusions, “Utopia” and “Blossom,” follow a similar production pathway as “Rain” and “Diary of a poor kid,” but “Blossom” notably stands somewhat more apart given its focus. “Blossom” pays tribute to Khan’s father, whom he recently lost to cancer. Khan said of the song,

“‘Blossom’ is one of my favorite tracks from the EP. I think it’s the most special track aside from ‘Rain.’ The song was dedicated to my dad who died battling cancer [on] September 22. He was a great dad; the strongest person I’ve ever known. [I] never showed him the tune and I regret it forever. I wish I could just tell him that I love him so much before he passed away, but I can’t.”

Papa Khan’s sought-after bass sound should not be overlooked in 2021. The producer has directly supported MARAUDA on Insomniac‘s Bassrush showcase and has also been recognized by dubstep heavyweights such as Skrillex and 12th Planet. Stream Papa Khan’s Blossom EP below.

Britney Spears “will not perform again” while her dad remains in control of career

Britney Spears lives in fear of her father and will not resume live performances while he remains in control of her career, the singer’s lawyer has said.

The comments, made by attorney Samuel D. Ingham, came after Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny declined to suspend James Spears from his role in the conservatorship that has controlled Spears’ career and finances since her mental breakdown in 2008.

But Judge Penny said she would consider future petitions for James’ future suspension or removal from the role, which Ingham now plans to file.

“My client has informed me that she is afraid of her father,” Ingham told the judge.

“She will not perform again if her father is in charge of her career.”

In papers filed on November 3, Spears’ court-appointed lawyer Ingham argued that the star will suffer “loss and injury” if James is allowed to retain his position.

James Spears’ attorney, Vivian Lee Thoreen, has since hit back at the claims and said James has taken the singer out of debt to a net worth of more than $60 million.

“I don’t believe there is a shred of evidence to support my client’s suspension,” she said.

Thoreen argued that the disruption caused by his removal would do the singer the very harm the suspension is meant to prevent.

While Judge Penny turned down the request for James’ suspension, she did approve the corporate fiduciary, the Bessemer Trust, to now serve as a co-conservator alongside her father.

This latest legal battle comes amid the ongoing #FreeBritney campaign, which claims that the singer is being controlled by James.

Earlier this month, Spears also addressed fans’ concerns over her wellbeing in a new video.

Chemikkal’s name-making campaign continues with debut EP release [Stream]

There are many ways to make an entrance in the electronic scene, and Chemikkal has elected to continue his name-making campaign with a genre-roving, self-titled EP. A four-track toy with progressive house and bigroom sound, Chemikkal shows promise for the Tampa-based producer, who leans without reservation into energetic sound constructs on the eponymous project.

As a whole, Chemikkal channels the main stage-suited chord progressions and breaks characteristic of 2012 and 2013 EDM, and “Say My Name” especially orbits around this aesthetic. Stylistically unified yet distinct, Chemikkal‘s four constituents, “Animals,” “Never Let You Go,” “Say My Name,” and “I Do It Better” bring different bursts of sound to the introductory offering as Chemikkal asserts that he’s only getting started.

Justin Bieber and Chance The Rapper drop acoustic version of ‘Holy’ [Watch]

Justin Bieber has released an acoustic rendition of his song “Holy” with Chance The Rapper. The new version arrives after the pop star unveiled the official music video earlier in September.

Debuting with 2 million streams on its initial release day, “Holy” marks the first “new era” chapter of Bieber and follows the delivery of his fifth studio album Changes in February. In the latest update, the gospel-pop melody receives a rework from Chance The Rapper’s long-time collaborator Peter Cottontale, featuring the two artists in stripped-down production. Directed and produced by Rory Kramer, the accompanying visual takes a simplistic approach in spotlighting the pair’s performance.

Borderlands 3 DLC Trailer Features Music From Dillon Francis & Boombox Cartel

The new Season of Borderland 3 dropped this past weekend, complete with a cinematic trailer showing off some of the game’s brightest and most chaotic moments. Those watching, and more importantly listening, might have caught on to the music playing along… yep, that’s Dillon Francis and Boombox Cartel’s “Drip” from 2019.

This isn’t the first time that the popular game series has taken inspiration from dance music either. When the trailer for the base Borderlands 3 game dropped last year, developers used “Can’t Hold Me Down” from Griz as the musical backdrop. And anyone who’s played the game can attest to how (apart from the wanton killing and general mayhem — maybe not the mayhem) it’s sort of a raver’s apocalyptic paradise.

Check out the Season Pass 2 official trailer below! The pass is available now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S when the next-gen consoles launch this week.

Lost Kings change course for EP’s third piece, ‘Mountains’ with MASN

There were minimal reservations surrounding Lost Kings‘ fifth EP before its rollout even commenced. With the latest single landing and subsequently, three pieces attached, the Los Angeles duo has unfailingly hit the musical jackpot with each and every extension. Nestling itself beside previous releases “Hurt” with DeathbyRomy as well as “Oops” with both Ty Dolla $ign and GASHI, “Mountains” now arrives with MASN as the next segment from Lost Kings’ forthcoming EP, It’s Not You.

In the grand scheme of the project’s assembly thus far, “Mountains” supplies another wholly distinctive, yet both forward-thinking and easily identifiable production recipe from the Lost Kings one-two punch. Partnering up alongside the Utah lyricist, Lost Kings stroll along a more mellowed-out bypath, relative to the house and future bass approaches from the EP’s prior two singles, with the sole downside of “Mountains” being that it comes to an end.

BTS unveil tracklist for new album ‘BE (Deluxe Edition)’

BTS have revealed the full tracklist for their upcoming album, ‘BE (Deluxe Edition)’.

The forthcoming record will feature eight songs, including ‘Fly To My Room’, ‘Blue & Grey’, ‘Telepathy’, ‘Dis-ease’ and ‘Stay’.

The group’s record-breaking hit ‘Dynamite’ will close out the album, while ‘Life Goes On’, rumoured to be BTS’ next single, will serve as the opener.

‘BE (Deluxe Edition)’ is slated for release on November 20.

In a previous statement, band label Big Hit Entertainment said the upcoming album “contains the most ‘BTS-esque’ music yet”.

“The latest story from BTS begins by declaring that ‘even in the face of this new normality, our life goes on’ and imparts a message of healing to fans and to the world,” they added.

The band shared similar sentiments in an interview with NME after the release of their single, ‘Dynamite’.

“It has been a difficult year for many. We have also had to face many surprises and changes,” they said.

“That naturally made us think profoundly about music. We can honestly say that we love it, and we are passionate about singing and dancing more than anyone.

“We realised, however, that no matter how passionate we are, we need our fans there to listen to our songs and watch us perform. It made us eager to comfort and give joy to people through our music and performance more than ever. That is how ‘Dynamite’ came to be. We decided to accept new challenges and be more flexible.”

The tracklist for ‘BE (Deluxe Edition)’ is:

1. ‘Life Goes On’
2. ‘Fly To My Room’
3. ‘Blue & Grey’
4. ‘Skit’
5. ‘Telepathy’
6. ‘Dis-ease’
7. ‘Stay’
8. ‘Dynamite’
