Listen to Mat Zo’s Genre-Defying Third Studio Album, “Illusion of Depth”

Earlier this year, Mat Zo announced that fans would be receiving his third studio album in October. Since that announcement, he’s released “Colours” and “Problems” with Olan as well as “Love Songs.” Today his full LP, Illusion of Depth, has arrived via Anjunabeats

Illusion of Depth is the most refined work Mat Zo has released yet, diving into a multitude of genres ranging from progressive house to dance-pop. Subtronics Drops Hard-Hitting ‘String Theory’ EP Filled with Spooky, Relentless Bass [LISTEN]

Subtronics serves up spooky, in-your-face bass with his new String Theory EP, here just in time to thrive through Halloween.

The EP makes a statement from the jump with “Nitrous Mafia” as a dizzying build sets listeners up for its snarling vocal samples, shuddering drops and jagged rhythms. Next up, ” Clockwork” rocks a playful melody, hard-charging beats and West World samples. Suddenly, we’re into the mind of Subtronics.

The EP also boasts a couple of collaborations… “Melt Ur Brain” with Wooli follows with an almost hypnotic refrain over crashing snares and stabbing synths. Kompany joins Subtronics on the track “Wicked Witch” picking up the pace with a flurry of drums and funky, robotic drops.

Subtronics’ latest release comes complete with three more solo productions including the relentless “Broken Code,” sci-fi inspired title track “String Theory,” and downtempo “Professor Chaos” with chill flow and hip hop influence.

Subtronics says of the new EP:

I’m so thrilled to finally share my ‘String Theory’ EP with everyone. It is a direct reflection of the wide range of emotions I have been experiencing through the pandemic. I wanted to encapsulate them in my music which resulted in a unique vibe that is my most honest form.

We can always count on Subtronics to deliver boundary-pushing, hard-hitting sounds and rhythms and his String Theory EP leaves nothing more to be desired — at least for now. Listen here.

Tchami adds unforeseen ‘Year Zero’ pairing with Gunna, ‘Praise’

Tchami adds unforeseen ‘Year Zero’ pairing with Gunna, ‘Praise’48781972271 Ce4437b8a4 O

With five releases already to Year Zero‘s credit thus far, Tchami‘s debut full-length effort has been stoutly building a worthy case for inclusion amongst the year’s most applaudable dance music LPs, even while still awaiting an official end-of-year due date. Drawing out minimal time since reinstating the album’s rollout with Marlena Shaw on “Faith” at the end of September, Tchami is riding that momentum in full stride as he unloads the sixth addition to Year Zero, “Praise” alongside Gunna.

“Praise” is certainly far from Tchami’s first noteworthy collaboration of the year, with the producer having worked hand in hand with Lady Gaga on a slew of Chromatica favorites. While certainly a mildly unanticipated album feature from Tchami, “Praise” could not be more welcomed in open arms. Gunna provides a poised hip-hop crossover presence from the get-go as Tchami launches a torrid future house layout straight to the foreground to tie in both sonic fronts for an admirable complement to the herd of Year Zero‘s outings thus far.

Armin van Buuren Calls on Jake Reese for Lovestruck New Single “Need You Now”

Sometimes, love is so strong it consumes you. No matter what, that person stays on your mind. This is the ethos of Armin van Buuren‘s latest single, “Need You Know.” The Armada label boss called upon fellow Dutchman Jake Reese to deliver the dynamic and relatable vocals, creating a track that will have you moving all weekend long.

van Buuren doesn’t hold back on the production, throwing in a bouncy bit of attitude alongside Reese’s pitched down vocals. It’s more house-leaning than we traditionally hear from the esteemed trance producer. The bright piano chords and echoing bass paired with the sultry melody will have you feeling high off desire alone.
