Bruce Springsteen announces 2024 UK and European tour

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have announced a series of UK and European stadium shows set to kick off next year – find ticket details below.

The Boss announced the news earlier this morning (October 31) on his social media pages, confirming that he’ll make various stops across the UK and Ireland next year.

The new tour dates are set to be part of his 22-date European tour, which will also see him play in various stadiums around France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Sweden and more countries over the summer.

Kicking off at the start of May, the first of the freshly announced shows will be held at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff (May 5), before the singer-songwriter heads over to the Boucher Road venue in Belfast (9).

Shows in Kilkenny’s Nowlan Park (12), Cork’s Páirc Uí Chaoimh (16) and Dublin’s Croke Park (19) follow, as well as a stop at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland towards the end of the month (22).

From there, The Boss and his band members continue with the new run of EU shows before returning to the UK for a slot at London’s Wembley Stadium on July 25.

Tickets for the London, Sunderland and Cardiff dates go on sale on Friday (November 3) at 10am GMT, while tickets for the Belfast, Kilkenny, Cork and Dublin shows will be available the following Monday (November 6) at the same time. You can find tickets here.

The new 2024 shows follow a huge run of shows that Springsteen played across the UK earlier this year including his concerts in Edinburgh and Birmingham and a two-night headline slot at London’s BST Hyde Park.

It also follows The Boss being forced to postpone the remainder of his upcoming 2023 tour dates due to a continuous battle with peptic ulcer disease.

The rock veteran – now aged 74 – had initially fallen ill with a then-undisclosed illness back in August that resulted in two cancelled Philadelphia shows. Three weeks later, all of Springsteen’s September tour dates were postponed when it was revealed that the singer had been diagnosed with peptic ulcers.

Earlier this month he rescheduled the affected US tour dates and confirmed to fans that he’d be embarking on the tour between March and September 2024 instead. You can find any remaining tickets to US shows here.

In other Springsteen news, the singer, songwriter and guitarist praised his wife and bandmate Patti Scialfa as he inducted her into the New Jersey Hall Of Fame.

The rock legend – who was also honoured by the Hall of Fame in 2008 – described her as his “secret weapon” as he gave her the award at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.

ADE 2023: Simon Fraser Interview

With an unmissable compilation as soundtrack to this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event, Play Records unveiled this years’ ‘Play at ADE 2023’ album featuring hard-hitting tracks from talented Producers all over the world. Mainly featuring Techno and Tech House productions, this compilation surely has something for every taste. We sat down with Simon Fraser, Play Records Label Manager, to talk more about the making of and behind the scenes of this release.

Question of the Day | Killer Concer…

Hi Simon Fraser, how are you?

Same new, same new.

To begin, did you have a specific vision or goal in mind when you set out to compile this year’s album?

Yes. On my second trip to ADE a few years ago, I spent most of my visit in small, grungy Techno clubs. And I loved the vibes in those places. So, my goal with Play Records’ ADE collection this year was to try to recapture those small club vibes – each track in the collection is what I would expect to hear in one of those clubs.

When it came to assembling ‘Play at ADE 2023’, how did you go about selecting the tracks featured?

We joined LabelRadar last year to run some remix contests. And it soon became a secondary source for original demos. There are a lot more techno demos (and high-quality techno demos) running through LR than there are being submitted through our website.

Over the course of a couple months, I kept a close eye on the demos we were receiving and set aside all the Techno and Tech House submissions for possible inclusion on our ADE collection. And by the time I needed 20 tracks for the compilation release, I had plenty to choose from.

Did you set out to create a specific feeling or energy with this year’s compilation album?

See answer to question 2.

How would you describe the album to someone who hasn’t heard it yet?

Techno bliss.

Do you have a personal favourite track on the album?

Yes. But I’m not going to publicly favour any of these artists and their works over the rest of them. To my mind, they’re all great works for different reasons.

There are a range of different genres covered within ‘Play at ADE 2023’, tell us, how do you make sure you find the right balance between all the different genres, ensuring that there is a diverse range of music and Artists featured on the album?

It’s mostly Techno and Tech House. It veers into House, Bass House, Progressive, and Dubstep for a few tracks because, even though they’re different genres, the attitude of those works complement the rest of the collection.

I have a lot of fun selecting the track order on our compilation releases. For me, it’s akin to putting the scenes of a movie in the best possible order.

What do you hope listeners take away from listening to ‘Play at ADE 2023’?

Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.

The desire to listen to it again.

When did you first start the process of compiling this years’ album?, is this something that starts early in the year, ahead of ADE? How long does this process usually take?

Oh yes, well in advance. I just checked the creation date on my Play at ADE 2023 folder. It was created on June 26. However, we’d already signed a few of these tracks prior to that date. And the deadmau5 cover of ‘People Are Still Having Sex’ was one of the tracks he signed to Play years ago.

And finally, what can fans expect from Play Records next? Are there any exciting projects in the works?

We’re currently in the midst of a remix series of all the tracks off Kardano’s 2022 album called Art of Tones, Remixed. So, we have 2 more remix packs from that series that are out before the end of the year and another 4 packs early next year.

And I took the same approach for our NYE 2024 collection that I did with our ADE 2023 collection. But rather than Techno and Tech House, it will mostly be House, Disco, Nu-Disco, and Funky House. Exactly what I’d want to be dancing to on New Year’s Eve. That will be out mid-December.

Bruce Springsteen calls wife and bandmate Patti Scialfa his “secret weapon”

Bruce Springsteen has praised his wife and bandmate Patti Scialfa as he inducted her into the New Jersey Hall Of Fame.

  • READ MORE: Bruce Springsteen live in London: the heartland hero remains firmly at his majestic peak

The rock legend, who was also honoured by the Hall of Fame in 2008, called Scialfa his “secret weapon” and his “baby” as he presented her with the award at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark on Sunday, October 31, People reported.

Springsteen, who made a surprise appearance at the ceremony after postponing the remainder of his 2023 live tour due to a “monster” peptic ulcer, recounted how he met Scialfa in the ‘80s at The Stone Pony, a historic music club in Asbury Park.

“I met Patti at Stone Pony. Where else? She was sitting in with the house band, Cats on a Smooth Surface, and I heard that voice of hers and I wondered, ‘Who is that girl?’ I went to find out,” Springsteen said.

“She went on to record and produce with Steve Jordan, her second album, ’23rd St. Lullaby’, and third record, ‘Play as it Lays’, once again co-producing with Steve Jordan and Ron Anello, and both are wonderful pieces of work which if she hadn’t been married to some suck-the-air-out-of-the-room attention whore, they would have be much more widely known,” Springsteen joked.

He also said that Scialfa was a “second to none” songwriter with “deft lyrical work” and a “street-smart, fascinating, lovely, sexy, beautiful redhead with a sound completely her own”.

Scialfa, who grew up in Deal, New Jersey, thanked Springsteen for his introduction, joking, “I’m going to record him … saying this before I go to sleep or ask him to say it again.”

Scialfa was among the 15 inductees of the 2023 class of the New Jersey Hall Of Fame, which also included actor Ed Harris, singer Dionne Warwick, comedian Jon Stewart, rapper Queen Latifah and more.

Pioneering Psytrance Artist Goa Gil Passes Away at 72

Goa Gil, the electronic music pioneer whose sonic explorations forged the psytrance genre, has passed away following a battle with cancer. He was 72.

Gil had cancelled his 2023 tour dates and moved to California earlier this year, when he pursued a multi-month chemotherapy treatment for B Cell lymphoma, Rolling Stone India reports. His cancer was in remission by June, but within two months it had returned with renewed aggression.

Gil leaves behind a legacy that’s both tangible and transcendental. His experimentation and infusion of ethereal Eastern sounds with high-energy electronic rhythms precipitated a distinctive style that came to be known as Goa Trance, which is now widely recognized as a precursor to psytrance in the family tree of electronic dance music.

Prior to his death, Gil spent the final 10 days of his life in hospice care with loved ones by his side.

“In his final days Babaji wished to send his love and blessings to all and wanted to thank everyone for the love and support he has received over the years,” reads a statement shared on Gil’s social media. “He was at peace and was ready for his onward journey.”

A GoFundMe has been launched to assist the late artist’s family with his funeral and remaining hospital expenses. At the time of writing, its organizers have raised over $40,000 towards that effort.

We at EDM.com express our sincere condolences to the family, fans, friends and loved ones of Goa Gil.

A masterful, three-disc, concept-led adventure through the Sable Valley founder’s wide-scale production range, PLAY had already made its album of the year case on the streaming front. One of those stops on the PLAY tour—which includes opening sets from both his “NME” counterpart JAWNS as well as 33 Below—is New York City, with a night scheduled ay Hammerstein Ballroom on November 10, and we’re incredibly proud to announce that Dancing Astronaut has joined as an official presenter of the evening. Tensteps Exclusive EDMsauce.com Interview

Tensteps, the talented DJ and music Producer known for his music that blends elements from the Trance, Progressive, Melodic Bass and Psytrance genres, has recently released his highly anticipated debut album, ‘Infinite’, via Andrew Rayel’s label Find Your Harmony. Having received support from the likes of Armin Van Buuren, Andrew Rayel, Blasterjaxx, and Jeffrey Sutorius, Tensteps is ready to reach new milestones with this unmissable release. We invited him to talk more about the process behind the album, and this is what he said.

Mixing & Mastering Hip Hop Voca…

Hi Tensteps, how are you? Congrats on the release of your album, ‘Infinite’!

Hi! Thank you!

Firstly, can you tell us how you approached producing the album? Which track did you begin with and how did you then start the process of putting together ‘Infinite’?

The album has been in the works for over two years, so it’s honestly kind of hard to remember what the first one was. If I had to guess, it was probably “The Way We Fall Apart.”  But when I started that track, I hadn’t yet thought of doing an album.  I brought up the idea of doing the album with Andrew Rayel sometime in 2021. He loved the idea and I started formulating the concept then, but I knew I’d want to incorporate some tracks that I’d started before I specifically started producing for the album. I wanted it to be a journey through Tensteps in the 5 years since I started the project.

When it comes to producing, do you have a specific process that you use each time? Which element do you tend to start with?

Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.

It varies but the majority of my songs are vocal tracks, so there’s usually a vocal idea relatively early on in the process that helps me visualize how to arrange the record and where I want it to go melodically.

How did you know the album was finished?

Easy – the distribution deadline came 😂 . The reality is, we could spend years tweaking little things to get it closer to perfection, but you have to release the music eventually. We set a release date for the album and all of its singles back in 2022, so the deadlines were very clear.

When you set out to produce the album, did you have a specific goal in mind that you wanted to achieve?

I had a few goals. As a whole, I wanted it to reflect on what I’ve done as Tensteps in the past while also introducing influences of mine that I haven’t been able to explore before. The last track on the album, ‘Save My Soul,” which is a collaboration with my friend DRKMODE, is a straight up melodic bass record that you’d expect more on an Illenium album. There’s also another track, “Into The Light,” that I did with my friend Danni (Luxtides), where it’s mostly uplifting trance but the second drop dips into a melodic bass thing. I even got to bring in some rock and metal influence with the song “Spark.”

The album features many collaborations, can you tell us about these? How did the collaborations come about? Did you initially intend to collaborate with so many other talented Artists when you set out to produce the album?

Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.

I knew there would be a ton of vocal collaborations since I almost exclusively release vocal tracks. They all happened in different ways though. I met Sarah de Warren through my friend Spencer (who I collaborated with on a different track, “Way To You”) and we hit it off and pretty quickly got into that collab. “Broken Ones” I actually co-wrote with Linney and Jeff Schoeny over Zoom; she reached out to me to see if I wanted to do a co-write and of course I jumped on that. I’ve been songwriting for a long time but always by myself, this was one of the first co-writing sessions I ever did. “Spark” was probably the most interesting story of the album. I posted a trance/metal mashup on TikTok, and Auzzybear commented on it that he wished he could collab with a dance artist on something like that. I went to his page and saw he was a pop punk singer. I checked out some of his covers and he had a really unique voice that I thought might work well with this track I’d been working on as a rock/trance crossover. He ended up killing it and it came out so fucking cool; it’s definitely one of the most unique tracks on the album.

Do you have a favourite track on ‘Infinite’?

I’m not sure I could pick just one, but here’s a couple in no particular order. “End Of The Earth” has such a ridiculous amount of emotion behind it. That was a topline I wrote myself, and the first time I heard Natalie sing it, I literally cried. Her voice just fit the emotion I was trying to convey so perfectly that it created this perfect storm in my head. “The Way We Fall Apart” has a similar effect on me as there’s not a single thing that I would change about that track no matter how much time or resources I had. It’s absolutely perfect in its current form. “Spark” is also pretty high up on my list. The uniqueness of the rock drums, guitars, and more punky metal-influenced vocals with the way it combines with the trance synths, it’s just super cool to me.

What challenges did you face whilst producing the album? How did you then work to overcome these?

The biggest challenge is a mental one – it’s just wanting everything to be perfect.  You only have one debut album, and you want it to be something people go back to for decades to come. You want it to age well, but feel current in the moment, not be too far ahead of its time or no one will care, but not be too far in the past that it sounds dated. Because you’re working on it for so long, years even, it’s very hard to not let things become dated. You really have to think ahead and plan well, and then be prepared to adapt when necessary.

How do you think the album showcases your signature sound? Do you feel you that your style has evolved as you’ve worked to produce the album? Did you end up experimenting with any new sounds or techniques?

Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.

The melodic dubstep stuff was definitely new for me. I’d experimented privately with it but never released anything in that style, even though I listen to a ton of it.  Same with the rock influences – even though I’ve spent years in bands, I’d never combined it with dance music before. As far as my signature sound, I think it shows the range that Tensteps can do and shows that the uplifting sound I’m known for, isn’t the only trick up my sleeve.

Now that the album has been released, what’s next for Tensteps in terms of future releases, projects, and live dates?

I have two more shows this year, including my international debut. It hasn’t been announced yet, but I’ll be in Canada in December, so keep an eye out for those announcements. Then I’ll be in Dallas with Emma Hewitt on December 21. Beyond that, I already have my next few releases set for 2024 where you’ll get to hear some really fresh new sounds from me, plus we have some amazing remixes of ‘Infinite’ tracks that we’ll be sprinkling in throughout next year, and of course we’re working on some live shows for 2024.

Nandi Bushell gets into Halloween mood with drum cover of Slipknot’s ‘Psychosocial’

Nandi Bushell, the 13-year-old drummer who gained fame for her impressive drum covers, has released a new video of her playing along to Slipknot’s ‘Psychosocial’.

  • READ MORE: Corey Taylor: “Don’t feel special – I hate everybody!”

The video, posted on her YouTube channel on October 31, shows Bushell dressed up as a devil as she launches into an enthusiastic cover of the 2008 metal anthem. “Being a Slipknot #maggot is not just for #halloween but for #life!”, Bushell wrote in the video description.

Bushell, who shot to viral fame for her online drum battles with Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, has been playing drums since she was five years old and has posted hundreds of videos of her covering songs by various artists including Nirvana, Metallica and Queen. She has also released several original songs, such as ‘The Shadows’, ‘Gods and Unicorns’, and ‘Into the Abyss’.

Grohl would go on to invite Bushell to join Foo Fighters on stage in LA back in 2021, where she played drums with the band on their hit ‘Everlong’, and later joined the band at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert at Wembley Stadium in 2022 after the Foos drummer died last March.

The Foo Fighters frontman has been effusive in his praise of the young drummer, remarking that watching Bushell play the drums is “the true meaning of rock’n’roll”.

Bushell recently opened a music school in her hometown of Ipswich alongside her family and the family of her drumming tutor Ashley Howard. The Stairways Music School is based at Burlington Baptist Church on London Road, and is open to students of all ages and skill levels.

Sickick and DMX's Estate Unveil Riveting Trap Collaboration, "Long Live X"

A seismic new trap track from the enigmatic Sickick has landed, and it features the indomitable spirit of the late DMX.

A representative tells EDM.com that the masked producer was enlisted by DMX’s estate to help breathe life into an unfinished aspiration of his: creating an EDM album. Determined to make those aspirations a reality, the iconic rapper’s estate kickstarted the effort by providing Sickick with an unreleased hook and verse.

Sickick’s journey making the song began back in 2021, when his mashup tribute to DMX first caught the ears of DMX’s estate. The tribute’s viral reach and heartfelt essence paved the way for a deeper exploration into a collaboration that the “Party Up” rapper had longed for, albeit in a realm he had yet to explore.

Joining forces with Velvet Cash, the trio of artists employ an explosive fusion of rhythm and rhyme. DMX brings his characteristically commanding presence to the track amid Sickick’s hard-hitting 808s and soaring trap melodies. Meanwhile Velvet Cash brings a smooth vocal contrast to the table with the first silky verse, followed by a verse from Sickick.

“DMX’s team told us that his dream was to always make an EDM album, and although he didn’t have that ability to do that before he passed, I made it my goal to try and make that happen,” Sickick says. “Through months of testing and carefully trying ideas, I finally landed on this EDM Festival Trap direction that I think speaks to his soul and the energy he brought to the grand stage.”
