Nick Oliveri, the former bassist of Queens Of The Stone Age, has announced two new compilations and shared the track ‘Chains And Shackles’ featuring Slash.

The two compilations feature tracks that span Oliveri’s career. Titled ‘N.O. Hits At All Vols.8’ and ‘N.O. Hits At All Vols.9’, both albums are set for release on January 19 via Heavy Psych Sounds. Pre-order the albums here.

The musician shared ‘N.O. Hits At All Vols.8’s opening song ‘Chains and Shackles’ which marks the first official release of a 2010 collaborative track with Slash.

The song was an outtake from the iconic guitarist’s 2010 self-titled LP and will receive an official release via Olivier’s compilation album. ‘Chains and Shackles’ was produced by Eric Valentine, who previously produced Queens Of The Stone Age’s 2002 album ‘Songs For The Deaf‘.

Both of Oliveri’s upcoming compilations contain unreleased material that spans across various bands and solo projects the musician has been involved with over the years. Some of these bands and projects include Mondo Generator, his Death Acoustic project, Dead End America and others.

‘N.O. Hits at All Vol. 8’ track list is :

1. ‘Chains And Shackles’ (Slash w/ Nick Oliveri)’
2. ‘Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction’ (Nick Oliveri’s Death Acoustic)
3. ‘I’m Not Dead’ (He Who Can Not Be Named w/ Rex Everything)
4. ‘Back Off Boogaloo’ (Nick Oliveri and The Drug Store Cowboy)
5. ‘The Lords Are Here To Ride’ (Death Machine 3)
6. ‘She Wanted To Leave’ (Nick Oliveri’s Death Acoustic)
7. ‘Outlaw Scumfuc’ (Nick Oliveri’s Death Acoustic)

‘N.O. Hits at All Vol. 9’ track list is:
1. ‘Death March’ (Temple of Deimos w/ Nick Oliveri)
2. ‘Blast Off’ (Nick Oliveri’s Uncontrollable)
3. ‘Twitter Troll’ (Fuck All Of You Dead End America)
4. ‘Up Against The Void’ (Mondo Generator)
5. ‘Blow Up The Embassy’ (Nick Oliveri’s Death Acoustic)
6. ‘Road Warrior’ (Death Machine 3)
7. ‘Conspiracy’ (Fact Or Theory) (Mondo Generator)
8. ‘Consider Me’ (Nick Oliveri’s Death Acoustic)
9. ‘Take Aim’ (Nebula w/ Nick Oliveri)

In 2004, Oliveri was fired from Queens Of The Stone Age by the band’s frontman, Josh Homme, after the bassist was accused by Homme of disrespecting QOTSA’s fans with his on-tour behaviour.

The bassist reunited with the band in 2013 when he provided backing vocals on ‘If I Had A Tail’, which appears on their sixth record ‘…Like Clockwork’. He then joined Queens Of The Stone Age on-stage for the first time in 10 years in Portland, Oregon the following year.

Last year, Oliveri opened up about his relationship with Homme during an interview with Eonmusic.

“You know, we’ve know each other for so long it’s just weird to be at each others’ throats,” he explained. “You can’t force somebody to play music with you. It ran its course just playing music together.”

Oliveri went on to say that he and Homme were “still friends”, adding: “It’s just that we don’t make music together right now.”

He continued: “We did so much in a five-year period, in a concentrated period, so much work, that we kind of burned out on each other. So, it is what it is, and he kind of wanted the band to go in a different direction anyway, so he’s taken it there, and that’s where he wants it to go, and it’s great for him.”

In other news, Queens Of The Stone Age have been announced as headliners for HellFest 2024 alongside Foo Fighters, Royal Blood and Megadeth.

Black Tiger Sex Machine's Innovative "Portals" Album Is World-Building at Its Finest

Few electronic artists spend as much time world-building as Black Tiger Sex Machine. The superstar trio’s efforts have culminated in their remarkable third album, Portals, out now via their own Kannibalen Records imprint.

A stunning expansion of their heavy, industrial sound, Portals capitalizes on many months of hype to deliver the best album of BTSM’s career. Spanning 10 tracks, the record is a powerful addition to their discography, weaving a compelling interplay of masterful storytelling and visual arts all while writing some of their most memorable music to date.

Time and again, the group have proven themselves a forward-thinking force in electronic music. However, to BTSM, Portals is more than just an album. Ranging from Berserk to Naruto, it traverses a variety of influences from the worlds of anime and gaming while expanding upon the post-apocalyptic universe they’ve been developing over the course of a decade.

“The Portals LP is a massive concept project that sees our fictionalized universe expand like never before with new stories centered around characters like Naomi,” the band tells EDM.com.

Expanding on their concept even further, Portals translates directly to BTSM’s phantasmagoric live show.

The trio used motion capture to crystallize the album’s themes into trippy animated visuals for the show, curating the most immersive—and impressive—live experience than they’ve ever had before. Not only does this add intrigue to their live performances, but it also allows them to craft a deeply personal tale throughout each of the tracks featured on the album.

Tupac originally considered signing to Bad Boy Records, says brother

Mopreme Shakur has said that Tupac “considered” signing to Bad Boy Records before his deal with the infamous Death Row Records.

The beef between Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. is one of the most infamous conflicts in rap history. This week, Mopreme revealed that the rivals were nearly labelmates, telling The Art Of Dialogue that, before Tupac signed to Death Row, he was “considering” joining Diddy’s iconic label.

He said: “There was a point ‘Pac was considering going to Bad Boy before his relationship with Death Row. He wanted to be on a Black label. He wanted to be with his people. He wanted to be with the brothers. He supported Black business.

“There was a period where we were all cool. Over time, things happened and ‘Pac started seeing things. Biggie was on Puffy’s label so with them two, it was Puffy calling the shots. There were some legitimate problems there.”

Tupac negotiated his deal with Suge Knight, the founder of Death Row Records, from jail before signing it upon his release in 1995.

Elsewhere in the video, Mopreme revealed that Diddy called him to deny his involvement in his brother’s death. “Puffy called me back in the day,” he recalled. “He called me and he was like, ‘I just want you to know [that] I ain’t had nothing to do with your brother’s [death].”

Mopreme said it was in “the early 2000s” when “The LA Times dropped an article in the newspaper implicating him as well.” He said it was “quite feasible that [Diddy] put up money to get ‘Pac killed. On top of it, he had his own problems with Suge [Knight].”

Tupac was hit in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996, before passing away six days later on September 13.

Last month, Duave “Keefe D” Davis was arrested and charged in connection to the shooting. The police believe that Davis’ nephew, Orlando Anderson, was the shooter and that he allegedly obtained the gun used “for the purpose of seeking retribution against Tupac”.

Mopreme also commented on the arrest, saying that it took 27 years to charge Davis because “Pac was a young black male and we have challenges in this country when it comes to equal justice”.

Suge Knight was also in the car when Tupac was shot. Earlier this month, he said that he wouldn’t testify for anyone in the Tupac murder trial. He also confirmed that Anderson was not the person who shot Tupac.

Knight is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence after he killed someone in a hit-and-run in 2015.

Notts County FC denies reports that Taylor Swift wants to buy club

Notts County FC has denied all reports that Taylor Swift wants to buy the football club with a Swiftie-approved message.

  • READ MORE: Taylor Swift: every single album ranked and rated

The League Two club was fast to respond to a tabloid’s front page headline which read that the now billionaire was looking to purchase the “world’s oldest footy club”. The club’s official X/Twitter page shared a statement regarding the rumour. Signed off by the current owners, Alex and Chris Reedtz, the statement not only addressed the claims, it also included a few easter eggs in the form of Swift song titles.

“As sorry as we are to disappoint the Swifties in our fanbase, we’re going to have to shake this story off,’ began the response, “There’s certainly no bad blood between ourselves and Taylor but, at such an exciting time for us and the club, she surely couldn’t have believed in her wildest dreams that we would relinquish our control.”

The statement ended with: “We’ll leave a blank space in tomorrow’s pre-match playlist for a track from her newly re-released 1989 album as a gesture of gratitude for her interest.”

Notts County poked more fun at the rumours of Swift wanting to buy the team by imposing the singer’s face onto the body of one of the owners while holding the National League play-off trophy. The caption of the photo read: “#Taylorsversion”.

Had Swift actually been interested in purchasing the team, she would have not been the first Football owner within her friend group. Actor Ryan Reynolds – husband to actress Blake Lively and good friends with Swift – bought Wrexham AFC with Rob McElhenney back in 2020.

In other Taylor Swift news, former American football star Rob Gronkowski has shared his thoughts on the NFL focusing on Swift during games.

Adams made the argument that the game of football hasn’t changed since Swift began attending more games recently, and that her attendance will in turn bring in more viewership to the sport.

Gronkowski’s comments come after the NFL earlier this month defended its extensive coverage of Taylor Swift amid ongoing rumours that she is dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

The recent spotlight on Swift at NFL games has caused annoyance among some football fans. Kelce himself even said that the NFL was “overdoing it a little bit” with the attention on him and Swift during an edition of his podcast, New Heights.

Elsewhere, the pop singer fuelled more speculation that she will appear in the upcoming Deadpool 3 film after she was spotted with the film’s director this week.

Swift’s involvement in the upcoming film has neither been confirmed nor denied, but the pop megastar was recently spotted at a Kansas City Chiefs versus New York Jets football game with Reynolds, Jackman and director Shawn Levy, sending speculation into overdrive.

This week, Swift was spotted walking around New York City with the film’s director Shawn Levy, fuelling speculation that she will make an appearance in the long-anticipated sequel.

Swift also released ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ today (October 27). In a five-star review, NME shared: “‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ feels more symbolic than her previous re-releases. Not only is it another step closer to having a full back catalogue of albums that she will own, but it’s also a celebration of the moment Swift really took ownership of her pop sound.”

It continued: “As we’re witnessing the biggest year of Swift’s career so far, the artist’s ability to reinvent herself while honouring her core blueprint is only becoming more impressive. By journeying into the past, it’s a reminder that the future of Taylor Swift may hold so much more that will continue to surprise us.”

Gromo Teams Up With Rapper Chevy Woods For Bass House Single “The Protagonist”

Adopted from Guatemala at a young age and raised in New York, Gromo has evolved into a producer who’s not afraid to blend his love for rock and roll, hip hop, and heavy metal into thrilling electronic music tracks. He has studied at NYU’s prestigious Clive Davis Institute; traveled the world performing Ultra events in Miami, Europe, and throughout Asia; and collaborated with artists such as pop singer Rhea Raj and producer/singer-songwriter Hush

Now, he’s gearing up for his ‘Vortex’ EP, sharing one of the singles titled “The Protganist” featuring Taylor Gang member Chevy Woods. Hip Hop meets bass house in a splendid way as Gromo arranges thumping backbeat with fiery 808’s and synth stabs to make this one you could imagine rocking clubs late into the night.

“Chevy and I connected virtually during the pandemic when we collaborated on a trap style beat. Chevy has always been an MC I’ve admired and it was great bouncing ideas back and forth. I had the vocals for about three years before adding them to ‘The Protagonist’ track. I was inspired to add his vocals after watching Fred again..’s Boiler Room set. It threw me back to highschool days mixing for NYC high schoolers and ravers at Ultra, which was a challenge because at that time there was not a lot of hybridization of genres. It was either rap or dance music. ‘The Protagonist’ is a live mashup of both.– Gromo

Pink Reveals She Almost Died After a Drug Overdose at a 1995 Rave

Pink was an open book in a new interview with 60 Minutes, revealing she once almost died after a drug overdose at a rave nearly three decades ago.

The chart-topping singer-songwriter, who has been candid about her substance use in the past, said she began abusing and selling drugs in her teens. At one point, she was kicked out of her house and dropped out of high school, a period in which she said she was “off the rails.”

Pink then opened up about one ill-fated Thanksgiving night back in 1995, when she ingested a number different drugs before a harrowing overdose that nearly cost the pop superstar her life.

“Thanksgiving of 1995, I was at a rave and I overdosed,” Pink said. “I was on—oh boy—ecstasy, angel dust, crystal, all kinds of things. And then I was out. Done. Too much.”

That was the end of hard drugs for Pink, she said. She then got her first record deal just a few short weeks later, signing to L.A. Reid’s LaFace Records as a member of the all-girl R&B group Choice.

Liam Gallagher says he’s “gonna go for it visually” on ‘Definitely Maybe’ tour

Liam Gallagher has shared some insight on his upcoming ‘Definitely Maybe’ tour, telling fans that he is “gonna go for it visually”.

The news of a forthcoming tour across the UK and Ireland was shared earlier this month when the former Oasis frontman confirmed that he would be hitting the road to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band’s 1994 debut album.

For the shows, Gallagher will be making stops at arenas in Sheffield, Cardiff, Glasgow and Dublin, as well as numerous dates at London’s O2 Arena and at the Co-Op Live venue in the singer’s hometown of Manchester.

Now, according to a new post shared on social media, the Britpop icon is planning on presenting fans with an elaborate visual display at the concerts, and wants to “bring the cover alive on stage”.

It’s gonna be mega trust me,” he wrote on X/Twitter “I’m gonna go for it visually.”

“I’m gonna bring the cover alive on stage flamingos bowls of lasagna that I’m gonna dive head first in naked cmon,” he added, presumably referring to the plastic flamingo placed atop the fireplace on the album cover.

The announcement of the tour was first teased by Gallagher to fans earlier this year, when he reflected on the 30-year milestone and said that he was looking for a way to play the 1994 album in full.

Liam continued to tease the prospect, later announcing that he’d be playing “naughty” B-sides from the era too  as well ‘Half The World Away’ sung by his brother, former bandmate and Oasis’ chief songwriter, Noel.

More recently, the singer said that brother and former-bandmate Noel Gallagher turned down the offer to take part in the upcoming dates, however, it does appear that ex-Oasis guitarist Bonehead will be joining him on the tour following his solo projects and previous cancer scare – he’s since been given the all-clear.

Although not taking part in the tour, Noel did confirm plans for a 30th anniversary reissue of the seminal album to mark the occasion.

“I’m bouncing around the house to announce the ‘Definitely Maybe’ Tour,” he said at the time. “The most important album of the ‘90s bar none. I wouldn’t be anywhere without it and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together LG x” Liam wrote when confirming the tour online.

Upon tickets going on sale last Friday (October 20), extra shows were added in Manchester and London due to extreme demand. You can find any remaining tickets here.

Describing the album cover for ‘Definitely Maybe’ back in 2015, NME recalled how the artwork was “Inspired by the sleeve of ‘A Collection Of Beatles Oldies’”.

“The band were shot in Bonehead’s front room surrounded by significant objects: pictures of Burt Bacharach and Rodney Marsh, a spinning globe and glasses filled with Ribena,” it read. “The idea of Liam ‘lying in state’ came from photographer Michael Spencer Jones visiting the Egyptology section of the Manchester Science Museum.”

In other Liam Gallagher news, the Manchester indie icon has teased that his new solo album – the follow-up to 2022’s ‘C’Mon You Know’ – is now complete, as is his upcoming joint album with John Squire, which he describes as “the best record since The Beatles‘ ‘Revolver’”.
