Britney Spears has shared that she does not want her upcoming memoir to “offend anyone” as she has “moved on”.

Taking to her official Instagram page, the pop icon shared a statement explaining that her book, The Woman in Me, was something that she didn’t know needed to be written and had provided her with the closure she needed.
“My book’s purpose was not to offend anyone by any means !!!” she wrote in the post. “That was me then … that is in the past !!! I don’t like some of the headlines I’m reading … that’s exactly why I quit the music business four years ago !!! Most of the book is from 20 years ago … I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here !!!”
She continued: “I am here to establish it that way for the rest of my entire life! Either way, that is the last of it and shit happens! This is actually a book I didn’t know needed to be written … although some might be offended, it has given me closure on all things for a better future! Hopefully I can enlighten people who feel particularly alone in most cases or hurt or misunderstood! Again, my motive for this book was not to harp on my past experiences, which is what the press is doing and it’s dumb and silly! I have moved on since then!”
The Woman In Me is set be released tomorrow, October 24. Excerpts from The Woman In Me have gained notoriety for their details about Spears’ abortion with Justin Timberlake and her infamous head-shaving incident in 2007.
Spears’ bool will also detail her life under her 13-year-conservatorship, which ended in November 2021. The singer recently revealed that she only learned of the #FreeBritney movement in 2018 thanks to a nurse at a rehab facility.
#FreeBritney started almost a decade ago and was a pivotal aspect of bringing wider attention to the nature of Spears’ conservatorship. “I don’t think people knew how much the #FreeBritney movement meant to me,” Spears wrote. “Especially in the beginning.”
The popstar recently announced that she would be co-narrating the audiobook version of her memoir due to her “heart-wrenching” time “reliving” experiences. Listeners will hear Spears in a short intro, leaving actress Michelle Williams to narrate the rest of the book. The book prompted Spears to undergo “a lot of therapy” in order to write the memoir.
In the all-embracing world of raving, creative and imaginative costumes can be found year-round. However, that encouraging sentiment is taken to the next level during this time of the year as the king of all costumed holidays draws near.
Of course, we’re talking about Halloween, the penultimate celebration of everything ghoulish and stylish. From classic monsters to cultural zeitgeists, the goal is to don inventive wardrobes, whether it be in the halls of a house party or on the dancefloors of one of the many Halloween-themed music festivals.
One of those festivals is set to make its return to the hallowed grounds of the NOS Events Center, the immersive and impressive Escape Halloween. Billed as North America’s premiere Halloween dance music festival, the Insomniac-produced event is known to draw thousands of revelers to San Bernardino for two nights of spooky spectacles.
Set to take place on October 27th and 28th, the 12th edition of this remarkable festival is being marked by an expanded footprint and features marquee headliners Above & Beyond, Kaskade, Afrojack and Zedd.
In the spirit of the season, we caught up with a few artists joining said headliners to share their favorite Halloween costumes from the past. From heavenly creations to downright wicked spell-casters, these are the past fashions from some of the acts performing at this year’s Escape Halloween.

Last Halloween, we took a deep dive into the magical world of ‘The Wizard of Oz’. I became the menacing Wicked Witch of the West, with makeup done by the prodigious artist behind the show “Dahmer.” The transformation was so convincing that I could roam around Emo Nite incognito, relishing in the thrill of anonymity. It wasn’t just a costume—it was an experience, making it one of our most memorable get-ups to date. Can’t wait to see you all at Escape!

Last year my girlfriend and I dressed up as Chucky and Tiffany for Summoning of The Eclipse festival. I loved how comfortable the overalls were so all movements just flowed nicely when performing and dancing around. We tried to stay completely in character as much as possible because Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. It’s always a good time to get spooky and stay spooky.

This costume is my favorite ‘cause I refer to all the people kind enough to support me as angels. Because it couldn’t be more true, they’re literally angels. So, it was really sweet and meaningful to dress up as this. I wore this costume when I was fortunate enough to play support for GRiZ at 1st Bank Arena last year, which was such a special show. This show plus this costume just made it a Halloween costume that’ll mean so much for forever.

My favorite Halloween costume from the last few years has to be the time I dressed up as Chibiusa from Sailor Moon! I really enjoyed the show when I was younger so it was extra fun to put it all together and get creative with the accessories and makeup. I can’t wait to dress up again for Escape Halloween!
Chvrches‘ Lauren Mayberry has covered Nena’s ’99 Luftballons’ in Munich – watch the footage below.
Currently on her solo tour, Mayberry has been performing a unique cover for every city she visits. Recently, she’s performed Depeche Mode in Prague and The 1975’s ‘Paris’ in Paris. In the NME review of her London stop, Mayberry performed a cover of the Spice Girls’ ‘Viva Forever’. She has also managed to cover Madonna at each solo show, having kicked off her first show with her version of ‘Like A Prayer’.
In Munich, the Scottish singer unveiled her cover of ’99 Luftballons’ on October 13, which she sang entirely in German. “I’m very sorry in advance,” she joked.
Nena’s surprise hit, originally recorded in German, managed to top the US Cash Box chart when it was first released in 1983. The English version was released a year later, and went on to top the UK Singles Charts as ’99 Red Balloons’.
Mayberry is currently embarking on her solo tour, where the singer has released two singles so far: piano ballad ‘Are You Awake?’ and the more upbeat ‘Shame’. The Chvrches frontwoman recently spoke to NME about her decision to go solo, stating that “it was born out of things that I couldn’t or wouldn’t write in the band.”
“There are a lot of specific things about the female experience that won’t apply to Iain and Martin,” she told NME.
“Obviously they have been very supportive of some of that making its way into Chvrches’ music, but sometimes I don’t want to sing about certain things or perform in a certain way when I’m on stage with men – if that doesn’t sound terrible. They’re the nicest men, but sometimes it’s not a conversation that I’m comfortable having fully in that context.”
In January Destructo and friends will once again hit the deck for Friendship, the beloved floating festival. And according to the renowned music executive, promoter, DJ and festival founder, whose real name is Gary Richards, this year’s ship is twice the size of the vessel they had last year—giving big deck energy.
Friendship 2024 will set sail out of Miami on January 6th, taking the sea-nic route around Cuba to Belize for a 24-hour private island party before docking back in Florida on the 11th.

With meticulously curated programming throughout the five days, Friendship 2024 will feature headlining performances from the likes of Bob Moses, Boys Noize, Chris Lake, Chris Lorenzo, Dr. Fresch, Mr. Carmack and Rusko, among others. Meanwhile, electronic music icon Skrillex been confirmed to perform an “exclusive” set on Belize’s Harvest Caye.
“Just think of a 24-hour beach party with 4,000 of your best friends and Skrillex,” Richards tells EDM.com.
Ahead of this year’s festival, we caught up with Richards to chat a-boat what makes a cruise ship the quintessential setting for a festival as well as Friendship’s one-of-a-kind programming and what to expect on the hotly anticipated island overnighter.
EDM.com: Following your efforts with Holy Ship! you pivoted in your career, but you continued to pursue your passion of curating a floating festival. For someone who has never been on a cruise, what makes a ship the quintessential setting for a party?
Gary Richards: It really is the perfect place for a mini festival. When you go to Shambhala, you go to Coachella, you go to these festivals they’re amazing but you know there’s no running water, there’s no restaurants, there’s nowhere to go to the bathroom, it’s kind of dirty. That’s fun and all but being able to have all of those amenities attached to the party is just great.
You could be on the dance floor at like three o’clock in the morning and then if you want to go back to your room and take a shower and change your clothes you can do that instantly. If you’re hungry, there’s food, there’s 20 restaurants, things are happening 24 hours a day. It really is the perfect place to have a mini festival and everything is within walking distance.
You know, the ship is pretty large and so you’ll be putting on miles for the five nights, but everything is in range. You don’t have to drive anywhere. I’ve been a festival promoter for most of my life and pretty much all of the logistics of what makes a festival miserable are taken out of the way.

And then you’re on this amazing $500 million cruise ship that we are so fortunate that they let us even take it over. I get to take over the whole thing… When you’re walking down the hallway, the music that you hear, I programmed it. When you turn on the tv in your room, I programmed it. Everything in there, I get to program for five days.
It’s pretty wild that they allow that and we know how to do it pretty well.
EDM.com: Friendship embarked on its maiden voyage in 2018, selling out in just two days. What sets this floating festival apart from the others?
Gary Richards: Well, for one, we are on this new ship called the Joy. The Joy is definitely the biggest ship that I’ve ever produced. It has the most amenities. It has a go-kart track on the top, it’s got waterslides—I mean most of them have waterslides. When I went on it, I was scared to even go on it because one of the slides goes over the side of the ship like a loop and it has a door on the side because sometimes people get stuck.
The waterslide on the Norwegian Joy.

But the thing that makes this Friendship the best of all the ships that I’ve ever done, or at least what I’ve conjured up in my mind is when I went on a cruise in 1997, from Miami to the Bahamas and there were like 400 techno people from Germany. I don’t know how I got on there, it was sponsored by Camel cigarettes, and we went to this island and they let us stay on the island overnight. In my mind, I was always like, “If I could ever recreate this vibe I would.”
And so in all of the years that I’ve been doing it, we go to islands and we get the island to ourselves and we can have a party there, but you always have to leave at 4 p.m. because you can’t really shuffle people back and forth in the dark on an island with the boat, it’s just a safety issue.
So this island that we’re going to in Belize, it has a dock and has lights and we’re allowed to park there overnight. So when we get to Harvest Caye, Belize, we pull in at like 9 a.m. and we are allowed to stay till 9 a.m. the next day. So we have a sunset and a sunrise on the island. The lineup on the island is Chris Lake, Skrillex, Bob Moses, Justin Martin, me–I’m going to do the sunrise. It’s the first time I get to have a night party into the day on the island. I think it is going to be the thing that everybody’s like, “Holy shit, that just took it up 10 notches.”

EDM.com: That is definitely unheard of. Are people still sleeping on the ship?
Gary Richards: Yep. You can just go back to the ship if you want to eat or shower and then come back. It’s a little bit of a walk from where the boat is docked to where the stages will be on the island, but not too far. Think of the ship as like a floating hotel.
EDM.com: Will there be anything happening on the ship during the island party?
Gary Richards: No, there will not be any music on the ship that day.
I’ve thought about it long and hard and I really want everybody to be in the one section on the island. I’m going to have two sound systems, but I’m only going to have one DJ playing [at a time] throughout the whole island. I’m not going to break it up into different things so when you walk around, everyone is hearing the same thing the whole time.
EDM.com: Can you tell us a bit more about what you have in store for this island party? Paint us a picture.
Harvest Caye, a private island in Belize owned by Norwegian Cruise Line.

Gary Richards: There’s a lighthouse there. The stage is going to be next to the lighthouse, and I am working on a build of these portals to denounce the dancefloor area. When you get off the ship, we are going to have music around the pool at first. The pool is huge! And then set up the stage in the back and then move people to the back.
There’s private villas on the island, plenty of food, but mostly just think of a 24-hour beach party with 4,000 of your best friends and Skrillex.
DJ Soup–he builds the Pagoda [at Shambhala], that’s his stage–is going to help me with some of the production on this island. You know how the Pagoda has the visuals? So we are going to do that on the lighthouse–because it’s huge and it’s white.
EDM.com: After last year’s “surprise lineup,” this time around attendees have over five months to familiarize themselves with the artists. While many of the names are well-known, there are some up-and-comers. Are there any must-see standouts?
Gary Richards: Yeah! There’s a lot of them. Right now I’m on this Afro-house tip, so from Africa we’ve got Vigro Deep, Sun-El Musician, Enoo Napa and Da Capo. I’m really hyped on those four.
Patrick Mason is definitely one that you have to check out. I saw him on Instagram and he must be a professional dancer. He has the best moves of anyone I’ve ever seen in my life–like DJing–he is wild. I couldn’t even try to emulate it. He is from Berlin, or he plays in Berlin all of the time, so I asked Boys Noize, “Who is this Patrick Mason guy?” And he was like, “Oh, if you can get him, get him.” I was just watching him play in videos and now people are starting to see so I am really excited.

VTSS is another one. It’s cool that Boys Noize, Alex, is one of my true friends and he always throws me like, “You gotta get this, you gotta get that…” He lives in Portugal, and so he has a different perspective on music than the typical American EDM people. There’s this whole sound in Europe that’s different and so I gave him his own area. So VTS is part of that, Patrick Mason, Raven, also Safety Trance.
Then, in the bass world, I am really hyped on Nitepunk, G-REX, Mersiv. That’s not really my sound–I love that music, I don’t DJ it–so when people suggest things, I’ve really been listening to their music. I think they’re coming up like new fire in that world.
Nala is pretty cool. We also have Sin & Brook, they’re from New Zealand. I try to get people from all around the world. I think that a lot of times people just go, “Alright well we gotta book a festival so let’s just get the names that are going to sell the tickets.” But I am trying to give people a five-day holiday with interesting, unique vibes, not just the same shit that you’re seeing all of the time.
We have Todd Edwards too. He’s made a lot of records with Daft Punk. He has been DJing for about as long as me, so he’s a legend.
The 2024 FriendShip lineup features Skrillex, Chris Lake, Boys Noize, Bob Moses, Dita Von Teese and more.
c/o Press
EDM.com: Do the headliners and performers stay throughout the duration of the cruise?
Gary Richards: Yes. That’s kind of my stipulation. I let Skrillex slide because he didn’t want to stay the whole time. But everyone else, I feel like if you don’t want to stay the whole time, it’s probably not for you. Because that’s what really makes it. The fans want to hangout with the artists.
I give the best rooms on the ship to the artists and I try to give the artists the time of their life as well… I’ve had a lot of artists meet each other. You know the singer for RÜFÜS DU SOL? He met his wife on one of my ships. On the last ship, David Loy who is a professional skater, he started going out with Raven.
I want everyone to stay. That’s what makes it way more special.
I’m just trying to create that community, that togetherness… When we sail away, I tell everybody that this is that one event where if someone’s DJing, crash their set. We are not playing Ultra and there’s 100,000 people here, if you feel like you want to rip someone’s USB out and put yours in, do it! Make it fun.
This is the one place where you can just be goofy and no ones going to care. They’re going to like it more. I think I kind of helped set the tone. I don’t try to take it so seriously, let everyone just have fun. If someone from the audience wants to come up, jump in!
EDM.com: With that in mind, and several iterations under your belt, can you share a few core memories that you have made while on board Friendship?
Gary Richards: There’s just so many.
On the last one, we had a theme night that was 90s club kids and I played a set of all music from 1991. And when I played that Boys Noize and Dita Von Teese were there and Mr. Kool Aid–who I did parties with in the 90s–and Ty Dolla $ign and that set was really special to me to be playing the records that I first heard when I got into this music.
I mean, definitely on the first Friendship having RÜFÜS DU SOL. That was kind of like the last hurrah before they got massive. They were on a tour and I remember they said that they wanted to be the headliner and they wanted like 20 cabins as they were going to end their tour on the ship and have a big party. And I was like, “Yeah, of course.”
Then they released the “No Place” song. I booked them and like a month later the song came out and I was like, “You gotta be kidding me,” because the song and the lyrics are perfect for the ship: “There’s no place I’d rather be.” That kind of became like a theme of the ship.
Gary Richards: Dial-A-DJ is this crazy concept that we came up with that’s kind of like room service, but for a DJ. I handed out these random cards to people and one of my bookers has like a ship phone and if you call the number you can order a DJ to your room.
We started sending Boys Noize and Bob Moses and Busy P and all of the sudden we have these headliners going to peoples rooms and DJing. People were like losing their minds. It was really cool. It gets kind of crowded though in peoples rooms and so we had to move to the hallways. We have these carts that move around so we can play in the elevators and we can move around and have mobile parties at all times.
EDM.com: With the Friendship Pro Skate Team, Live Comedy and Shipteese presented by the “Queen of Friendship” Dita Von Teese, it is clear that this is no ordinary festival. Can you tell us more about these alternative performance offerings?
Gary Richards: Dita–she’s Shipteese–and I have been friends since we were like 18. She loves going on cruises and she’s been a part of it like every time, even back on Holy Ship!. Each cruise ship has a theatre and I wanted to use it as a real theatre instead of another club.
What goes on in the theatre? There’s a show: Magic, burlesque, comedy.
So that’s how it started. It’s hard for me because I love comedy, but I don’t understand how comedians get booked and then they think “okay it’s five nights” and then they want to get paid. The DJs understand, but comedians don’t really know who I am. They’re just like “oh, that’s the rave cruise.” I try to book people that are going to enjoy the event.
I don’t want anybody sitting in their cabin. So for the comedians I am like “do you like to dance? Can you do a comedy routine where you make fun of us?” It has to relate to the event somehow. I can’t just throw a bunch of random people into the ship.
The skateboarders, I skateboard. I built a little ramp in my backyard and my son and I–he’s 15– we skate together. And he told me one day “hey dad, I think this guy David Lloyd listens to your music.” and I was like “what do you mean?” And then I looked at his Instagram and he was posting some of my music and my friends’ music. We met up at the skate park and I asked him if he wanted to come and skate.
Dita brings a whole crew with her as well. She brings the gorgeous Russian models, the little people, and then she has this guy named Lazel and he is unbelievable. He strips with a leg… They know how to do it, they do it really tastefully. It’s not like a raunchy thing.
You’ll go out to one of the venues at the party, and you’ll see her and the crew and David and Erin, all just having fun. The people make the party.
EDM.com: Besides the performances, Friendship also offers an abundance of thrilling activities to foster lasting connections amongst shipmates such as yoga, go-karting, speed dating and more. In your opinion is this festival something for solo travellers to enjoy too?
Gary Richards: Oh yeah! You’re going to meet everybody. And everybody is really welcoming. That’s the best part of the whole thing. Everybody that goes is so welcoming to everybody else. Anywhere in the world that I go, there is some type of Ship Fam somewhere.
It’s this crazy community that we built. I never even thought of that part of it. I just thought, “I can put all this great music in one place and we have this great venue to party,” but the people that went on the first one they just melded together and created this community that is way bigger than anything I could have ever envisioned coming from an event. And it’s real.
These people really love each other. And if you’re new, if you’re a virgin, they’ll jump you in the gang no problem. Everybody is happy to welcome new people.
At the time of writing, Friendship 2024 is over 90% sold-out. For more information and tickets, navigate to the official website here.
Britney Spears‘ audition tape from The Notebook has leaked online – check it out below.
READ MORE: The Story of Britney Spears’ ‘…Baby One More Time’
In a recently shared extract from her upcoming memoir, The Woman In Me, Spears revealed that she auditioned for Rachel McAdams’ role in the film, The Notebook.
Speaking of her acting career, in which she played lead actress in the 2002 movie Crossroads, Spears said: “The experience wasn’t easy for me. My problem wasn’t with anyone involved in the production but with what acting did to my mind.
“I think I started method acting — only I didn’t know how to break out of my character. I really became this other person. Some people do method acting, but they’re usually aware of the fact that they’re doing it. But I didn’t have any separation at all.”
Speaking about her audition for the film, where she auditioned for the role of Allie Hamilton alongside Ryan Gosling, Spears said: “The Notebook casting came down to me and Rachel McAdams, and even though it would have been fun to reconnect with Ryan Gosling after our time on TheMickey Mouse Club, I’m glad I didn’t do it. If I had, instead of working on my album In the Zone I’d have been acting like a 1940s heiress day and night.”
The footage of Spears’ screen test was shared by casting director Matthew Barry who shared the footage with The Daily Mail. Watch it here:
Britney Spears’ audition tape for ‘The Notebook’ has been shared by the Daily Mail. https://t.co/QBFWuQXHC6
Speaking to The Daily Mail, Barry went on to reveal that Spears beat actors Scarlett Johansson Jessica Biel, Mandy Moore, Kate Bosworth, Claire Danes and Amy Adams for the role but that it ultimately went to McAdams.
“Britney wasn’t just good – she was phenomenal,” he told the publication. “It was a tough decision. Britney blew us all away. Our jaws were on the floor. I was blown away – absolutely blown away. She brought her A-game that day.”
Britney Spears’ sharing of the excerpts so far arrived after it was revealed that she will not be narrating the audiobook version of the upcoming memoir due to the “heart-wrenching” time of “reliving” experiences. Instead, the singer has revealed that actress Michelle Williams will be the one taking the reins. Spears will only be reading the book’s introduction.
Spears first announced she was working on a book back in April 2022. “I’m writing a book at the moment and as it’s actually healing and therapeutic…it’s also hard bringing up past events in my life…I’ve never been able to express openly,” she wrote in a since deleted Instagram post.
The Woman In Me will explore the pop star’s rise to fame, music career and time becoming a mother. It is also set to see Spears talk about her 13-year-long conservatorship in detail for the first time.
When two trap goliaths like Alison Wonderland and QUIX collide, we can only expect the best. This time around, the duo have stepped far outside of the box to release “Wake Up,” out now via Astralwerks.
We previously had a taste of what these two sound like together when they released 2019’s “TIME.” But “Wake Up” is an entirely new beast from the pair of bass music innovators, who are also longtime friends.
View the original article to see embedded media.
Alison Wonderland and QUIX have left little to be desired in the impressive new collaboration. The opening orchestral sequence of “Wake Up” is masterfully written as it gently guides us into the arrangement’s first mind-melting drop. It doesn’t stop there, however, ultimately leading to a second drop of hypnotic, four-on-the-floor mayhem.
Fresh off a sold-out Red Rocks performance, Alison Wonderland’s seemingly unstoppable train of success has continued throughout 2023. She kicked off the year with a remix package of her third album Loner before dropping September’s collaboration with MEMBA, “Fight or Flight,” which released on her very own FMU Records imprint.
QUIX has also stayed hot, joining forces with The Chainsmokers for “Grenade” and dropping his stunning Arpeggio EP on Seedeater. He also launched a drum & bass alias, Fredrick, who released an official remix of Alison Wonderland’s “New Day” before debuting with “The River.”
You can listen to “Wake Up” below and find it on streaming platforms here.
A general rule of dance music: Every set has its standout songs. The nonpareils that cut through the noise, pierce the air, collectively arrest the crowd, elicit a visceral “what the fuck was that?” If Squired‘s Imagine Music Festival 2023 set catalyzes that almost reflexive verbalization from you, then it did its job.
“Whenever I’m working on a set, I always go through the same mindset of wanting to showcase my music, edits, IDs, remixes and so on and so forth, but for me, the most exciting thing when going to a festival or show in general is hearing those songs that make me go ‘what the fuck was that’ and just take me by surprise,” Squired tells Dancing Astronaut. “I always want people seeing me perform to have those moments as well, so that’s such an important part for me in all my sets and of course wanted to bring that to Imagine as well.”
In September, it was wheels up for the rising force to be reckoned with, who temporarily left his New York base for his debut stint at Atlanta’s Imagine Music Festival. And as the set unequivocally demonstrates, Squired wasn’t just ready to notch the career benchmark—he came to supercharge Imagine’s crowd, to further lay the foundation for the high-octane trap that’s progressively becoming synonymous with Squired.
“In this mix I’ve got a few special random IDs, edits, and forthcoming tracks from my debut EP. Also a ton of music from all the homies and tracks that just make me wanna go crazy,” Squired says.
The pummeling, hour-long showing is proof that Squired is primed for dance music’s largest stages. And with a solid stack of releases in his rearview, including joints on RL Grime’s Sable Valley (see Sable Valley Summer Vol. 3 and Sable Valley Summer Vol. 4), Lowly., Proximity Recordings, and Ultra Music, who could argue that? No one.

In other Griff news, last month the singer received a shoutout from Taylor Swift, who shared her song ‘Vertigo’ on her Instagram story, telling her 271million followers that she ‘loved’ the track.
More recently, the singer debuted her upcoming single ‘Astronaut’, featuring Coldplay‘s Chris Martin, at the intimate EartH show last week.
The song is set to be released early next year and, at the show, she revealed that the track underwent various iterations before reaching its final version. Martin plays the keys in the studio version of the song and the collaboration arose after she acted as support for the band.
Green Day have debuted a new song titled ‘Look Ma, No Brains’ during their set at When We Were Young 2023. Check out footage of the moment below.
The trio – formed of Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt – debuted the new track last night (October 22), as part of their second show headlining the festival.
As seen in fan-captured footage, the new song sees the band maintain their traditional fast, angsty, pop-punk roots, but also has a chirpy, upbeat feel throughout.
“Don’t know much about history, cause I never learned how to read / Dropout I’m a knucklehead, sick boy I’m a shit the bed,” Armstrong sings at the start of the track, later going into the chorus: “I said look ma, I ain’t got no brains / I’m a goner and I don’t feel no pain / I’m stupid and I’m all by myself /Cause I’m special and I don’t need your help.”

Elsewhere in yesterday’s set at When We Were Young, Green Day played fan favourites including ‘Boulevard Of Broken Dreams’, ‘Basket Case’ and ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends’, as well as a live rendition of their recently revealed new song ‘The American Dream Is Killing Me’.
The track is the first to be taken from the band’s upcoming new album, their first since 2020’s ‘Father Of All Motherfuckers’, which was revealed to fans as the trio played an intimate live show in Las Vegas last Thursday (October 19).
Held at the 1,000-capacity Fremont Country Club venue, the gig served as a warm-up for their headline sets at this weekend’s festival, and celebrated their classic 1994 album ‘Dookie’ which is turning 30 next year.

The intimate show also saw the band announce news of a new US tour featuring The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas, set to kick off next year.
Lead track ‘The American Dream Is Killing Me’ is set to arrive officially tomorrow (October 24). Currently, further details on the forthcoming album – including the title and release date – have not yet been announced.
In other Green Day news, earlier this year the band debuted a new song called ‘1981’ during their set at the festival d’été de Québec in Canada, and more recently reopened their Reverb online shop as a way to sell almost 100 pieces of used gear from across their career.

In a statement shared to social media, Vile noted that the new release is “longer than an ep”, and that he now calls it a now “KV comp”.
“The first 6 tracks — which are the ones that fit on a single LP — are new to the world, with one foot in the not-too-distant past and the other with one tiny toe pointing toward the future. Together my feet are like a couple spanning time together.”
He continued: “Four songs on this comp were started at Stinson Beach, CA in September 2019 for a few days of recording with Rob Laakso, Stella Mozgawa, Chris Cohen, Cate Le Bon (and Adam Langellotti floating as a fly on the wall as well).
“Adam and I being the two overseers across this entire endeavor: we finished it on our own (and with some friends along the way). We ended up demonically overdubbing for weeks straight at OKV Central, Philly (my studio)… this was all of May 2023… so many magic moments.
He went on to describe his influences, including Cohen and Le Bon, adding that it was “an honour to simultaneously work with and become friends with both of them at once and for the first time”.
“Others like Rob Laakso and Stella Mozgawa, well, they’re cosmic family to me and we’ve gone to outer space together many times over the years (and whenever we want),” he continued.
“Adam Langellotti is a comparatively new member of the family but has been an official member of the Violators since the release of (watch my moves) — but was a recording partner in Philly for the making of that album from start to finish — and I’m just stoked i have a partner to go to outer space with — on the stage and in the studio — (whenever we want!).
“Farmer Dave Scher is family too from the old days and he rescued some o’ these tunes at Mant Sounds, Los Angeles just a couple days after our beloved Rob Laakso left this earth.
Vile concluded: “Sending lots of love out. The only word is love to see us through. The world is heavy. If this song takes your mind off things for 5 minutes that’s all I can hope for. Give peace a chance. Love, KV.”
