When it comes to ANATTA and Braydon Terzo’s first collaboration is unique, answering the age old question — what if Will Smith made minimal?
ANATTA, the U.S.-based DJ and producer, has made an impression on minimal house since his 2020 debut. With his recently launched ILLUSTRATE imprint and the monthly Insomniac Radio show ILLUSTRATE Radio, he’s quickly becoming a leader in the genre. On the other side of the collab is Braydon Terzo, an up and coming producer who has been climbing Beatport’s Minimal/Deep Tech charts with a dark and gritty sound.
Released on ANATTA’s own label ILLUSTRATE, the pair’s first swing — “The Saloon Tune” — is a tried and true club bumper. At its core is an undeniably catchy tech foundation that’s wonky, fun and deviously dance-able. And then there’s the unmistakable “Wild Wild West” sample that pops up at just the right moment amidst a flurry of minimal tech flourishes. Rounded off with a potent bass line and a hint of early 2000s nostalgia, it’s the ideal soundtrack for a smoky after-hours club.
Madonna took a moment to address the current Israel-Hamas conflict while on stage at The O2, expressing her exasperation at how human beings are capable of “being so cruel to one another”.
The artist urged the crowd to “remember we are human beings here” because “we cannot lose our humanity” and to make a difference by bringing “light into the world”.
Madonna had addressed the conflict briefly in the early shows of her four-night run of ‘Celebration’ shows at the London arena, saying on the opening night that “watching what’s happening in Israel and Palestine” breaks her heart. On the third show on October 16, however, she expanded on her comments.
“Nobody wants to see what’s happening,” she said. “I turn on social media and I want to vomit. I see children being kidnapped, pulled off motorcycles; babies being decapitated, children at peace raves being shot and killed. What the fuck is going on in the world? How can human beings be so cruel to one another? It’s just getting worse. It frightens me.”
Paraphrasing a quote by her “great inspiration”, the author James Baldwin, she continued: “The children of the world belong to all of us, each and every one of them. I don’t care where they’re from… what the colour of their skin is, what their religion is – the children belong to us. And we are responsible for them.”
She also addressed the killing of 6-year-old Wadea Al-Fayoume in Chicago on October 14, which detectives have alleged is a possible hate crime connected with the current Israel-Hamas conflict. Joseph Czuba, aged 71, has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing the young boy and attacking his mother.
Madonna claimed that the alleged attack was “a hate crime because he was Muslim.”
“We have to remember we are human beings here, we cannot lose our humanity,” she continued. “Our hearts can be broken, but our spirit cannot. No one can break our spirit. And you might look at what’s going on in the world and say, what the fuck? What can I do? I’m just one person, I’m helpless. No, you are not. Each and every one of you have the power and ability to turn light on in the world.”
Earlier this week, over 2000 figures from the entertainment world, including Tilda Swinton, Steve Coogan and Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja, signed an open letter calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The letter condemns various governments for “not only tolerating war crimes but aiding and abetting them” amid the current conflict between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas, as well as “every act of violence against civilians and every infringement of international law whoever perpetrates them”.
Hamas’ terror attacks on October 7, which included massacres at the Be’eri kibbutz and Kfar Aza kibbutz in Israel, was met with a deadly retaliatory response by Israel’s national military, the IDF, largely with missile attacks.
A reported 260 attendees at Supernova Sukkot Gathering, a music festival that was held a few miles from Gaza in Israel, were killed in an early morning attack by Hamas militants. The organisers of the festival have since released their first statement over the “unspeakable tragedy”.
Currently, the Palestinian Health Ministry says the death toll in Gaza has reached 4,137 since October 7, and over 13,000 people have been injured there. That includes around 500 people who lost their lives in a hospital bombing on Tuesday (October 17).
After two and a half years off, Hardwell is heralding the grand return of his beloved radio show, Hardwell On Air.
After revealing its comeback at this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event, the series’ revival is set to blaze a bold new chapter on the airwaves by featuring Hardwell’s distinctive big room techno flair.
The electronic music icon’s week at ADE is also coinciding with the release of a brand new collaboration with Nicky Romero, “I Wanna Dance,” an energizing track that stays true to the sonic movement he’s pioneered on mainstages around the globe since his soul-stirring return in early 2022.
In the realm of DJ radio programs, Hardwell On Air stood as a lynchpin of the electronic dance music domain for over a decade. With its return, Hardwell isn’t missing a beat as he’s opting to return with HOA #501. Teaming up with the esteemed Dutch station Radio 538, the revitalized show will regularly await fans on the first Friday of each month going forward.
“I’m super excited to bring Hardwell On Air back to the airwaves,” Hardwell said in a press release. “The show was always a great way to connect with the fans and share the music I’m passionate about. It’s taken a while to get this relaunch of the show in place, but I’m looking forward to kicking off this new HOA era.”
The return of Hardwell On Air is set to commence November 3rd, 2023. Fans will be able to find past and future episodes via the producer’s YouTube channel.
Tiga has long earned his stripes as a reckoning force in dance music. Throughout his reverent career, the Montréal-based veteran has achieved a myriad of accolades – from winning the 2007 “Dance Record of the Year” Junos Award for his debut album, Sexor, to steering his label, Turbo Recordings through 25 years of powerful, groovy, and sustainable releases. And yet through years of professional accomplishments, Tiga only seems to be getting started.

Flash forward a few months later, a cascade of releases, and select gigs across the globe, the two will reunite again at Miami’s III Points Festival for a headlining slot on the Sector 3 stage.

Anticipate the album’s grand release in spring 2024.”
BLOND:ISH is spearheading another material stride towards removing single-use plastics from the music industry.
Working in partnership with Happy Cups and the Monkey Project event collective, BLOND:ISH and her Bye Bye Plastic Foundation have unveiled a reusable, biodegradable cup made from bacteria, which is debuting at her own “BLOND:ISH & Friends” showcase at this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event.
The bioplastic cups are a product of living bacteria derived from used cooking oil, showcasing a circular economic model that harnesses eco-friendly materials to create consumer-friendly solutions. The initiative unambiguously targets two major environmental concerns, the pervasive single-use plastic problem and the fossil-fuel plastic culture, aiming to provide a seamless yet environmentally responsible substitute for both attendees and event organizers.

“It wasn’t easy, but the Plastic Free Party is finally here! With Bye Bye Plastic, we always wanted to help take care of nature starting with single use plastic first,” BLOND:ISH said in a statement. “Plastic never helped, so we’re doing our part, especially this year at ADE. With help from our friends at Monkey Project and Happy Cups, we’re saying bye bye to fossil fuels and saying hello to PHA cups.”
The initiative aligns well with with BLOND:ISH’s prior undertakings in the name of precipitating a plastic-free party atmosphere. Most recently, Bye Bye Plastics formulated a batch of groundbreaking sustainable vinyl prints, also made from biodegradable bacteria.
This weekend’s sold-out “BLOND:ISH & Friends” showcase is slated to feature sets from LP Giobbi, Franky Rizardo and WhoMadeWho on October 20th, 2023.
VTSS’ ever-expanding musical catalogue follows a similar trajectory to her ability to dominate a pulsating dance floor; filled with unabashedly in-your-face pop records, eclectic 140 BPM warehouse shakers, and always refuting any expectations that surround a female artist.
In the past year, she’s shown that no genre cannot be conquered with a slew of releases, including Circulus Vitiosus, a four-track EP released on Ninja Tune, and most recently, a disco-pop leaning cut dubbed “Steady Pace” with everyone’s favourite DJ, Boys Noize.
After touring across Europe over the summer, VTSS is slated to embark on a series of North American shows, including her upcoming gig at Miami’s revered III Points Festival. Ahead of her Friday peak-hour timeslot on Richie Hawtin’s curated S3quenc3 stage, VTSS has curated a playlist of her favourite records, exclusively for Dancing Astronaut. As she approaches her upcoming gig, she offers a glimpse into the curation process of this short and sweet offering,
“The playlist contains my new single – a collab track with Boys Noize titled “Steady Pace” which for sure I will play at III Points. I’ve been really feeling classic hard house lately so I couldn’t skip few of my favorites in the genre like “The Jumper” – Mass Medium Remix (Hammer House) or “Concentrate” by BK & Andy Farley. With especially (around) techno club music getting faster and harder – playing a lot of hard house has been a good trick for me to keep the crowd entertained and engaged – without pushing the tempo too much and hardness of the sound.
Included as well tracks from a few friends and music acquaintances like LSDXOXO, Nova Cheq, Tzusing or WTCHCRFT – all four producers are what makes me still excited about club music.
I’m really looking forward to my set – haven’t been to III Points yet, heard the best things. Miami is also fun – it could be so extra and blunt, I love it.”
Megan Thee Stallion has settled her legal dispute with her former record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment.
READ MORE: On The Cover – Megan Thee Stallion: “I’m really working on my dynasty right now”
The Houston rapper had filed a lawsuit against the company back in 2020 claiming that the label was preventing her from releasing new music after she attempted to renegotiate parts of her contract, which the label refused.
1501 Certified Entertainment shared a statement to their official Instagram account regarding the dispute that read: “Megan Thee Stallion and 1501 Certified Entertainment are pleased to announce that they have mutually reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences. As part of the arrangement, both parties have agreed to amicably part ways.”
Carl Crawford, the president of 1501 Certified Entertainment also added: “All of us at 1501 wish Megan the very best in her life and career.”
During an Instagram live video back in 2020, the rapper said that she “didn’t really know what was in [her] contract” when she first signed it, adding: “I was young. I think I was like 20, and I ain’t know everything that was in my contract.” (per BBC)
Earlier in 2022, Stallion filed a separate lawsuit against 1501, claiming it was attempting to keep her locked into a contract by not acknowledging her recent ‘Something For Thee Hotties’ compilation as an album.
An attorney for 1501 denied the allegations in the lawsuit, telling Billboard that Megan’s contract gave the label oversight over what would count as an “album” for contractual purposes.
The artist had released her previous two albums, 2020’s ‘Good News’ and 2022’s ‘Traumazine’ on 300 Entertainment and 1501 Certified.
Last week, the ‘Savage’ singer revealed she will be releasing her next album independently and will be financing it herself.
“This part of my album is definitely very much funded by Megan Thee Stallion because y’know… we tryna get off [laughs]… y’all know what’s the tea,” she said during an Instagram Live.
She continued: “But I have no label right now and we’re doing everything funded by Megan Thee Stallion’s pocket. The budget is coming from me, motherfucking Hot Girl Productions. It’s all coming straight from Megan Thee Stallion – Megan Thee Stallion[‘s] brain, wallet… we in my pockets, hotties, so let’s do our big one.
“We’re really doing our big one and I’m so excited. We’re doing something for the first time independently since it was just me and my mama. I’m so excited ’cause it’s literally just me this go round until we sign to a new label. But I don’t want to sign to a new label right now because I just want to do it myself.”
In other news, the rapper recently debuted a new single, ‘Out Alpha The Alpha’ which is taken from the soundtrack to A24’s musical comedy film Dicks: The Musical.

After a cooler performance in Toronto, Cascada will head back across the pond to Europe in November, making stops in Norway, Germany and the Czech Republic before evacuating the dancefloor and landing in New York, Chicago, Atlantic City, Houston and Boston.

We spoke with Horler in 2021 about the success of her biggest hits like “Evacuate The Dancefloor,” as well as fashion, another passion of hers. She helped design her dress and shoes for her momentous Eurovision Song Contest performance in 2013.
“This is something I really enjoy doing, so I try to incorporate that into my job as well,” Horler said at the time. “I would like to have a [clothing] line one day or something like that. That’s all for the future. We’ll have to see. I certainly want to get more involved in our merchandise because that’s a good way to get some input into that.”
