Paris Hilton to release new album, executive produced by Sia

Paris Hilton is set to release a new album next year, executive produced by Sia.

The singer and TV personality confirmed that she is currently working on the new LP, and is set to drop a new song ‘Lighter’ – which she has made with Steve Aoki – later this week. The album will mark the follow-up to her debut album ‘Paris’, which was shared back in 2006.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this week, Hilton said, “Yeah, I’m recording the new album right now.”

Speaking about working with Aoki, she added, “He’s so dope. We’ve been friends for 20 years. I love him so much.”

Details on the title and release date of Hilton’s album remain unannounced, however, ‘Lighter’ will appear on Aoki’s upcoming 10th studio album ‘HiROQUEST: Double Helix’, which arrives on November 17. Pre-order it here.

Earlier this month, news also broke that Hilton’s memoir is to be adapted into a television series.

Titled Paris: The Memoir, the New York Times bestseller was released earlier this year and will be developed a series by production company A24 – best known for films such as Everything Everywhere All At Once and Midsommar. The series will be produced by Elle and Dakota Fanning, with Hilton herself acting as an executive producer.

Hilton found fame in the early 2000s as a socialite and model, reaching global audiences with the reality show The Simple Life from 2003 to 2007.

Her debut album ‘Paris’ featured the hit single ‘Stars Are Blind’, which she released a newly-recorded version at the start of this year, titled ‘Stars Are Blind (Paris’ Version)’. In addition, the song was also revamped in June with a remix that featured Kim Petras. Check it out above.

In March, while promoting Paris: The Memoir on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, Hilton was seen greeting BBC journalists on the picket line during their strike to defend local radio stations.

As for Sia, the pop star recently announced details of her next solo album:‘Reasonable Woman’, which will be released in spring 2024 via Atlantic Records and marks her first solo album in eight years. She has also shared the new single, titled ‘Gimme Love‘.

Listen to Malaa's Spine-Chilling Mix Ahead of the 2023 Escape Halloween Festival [EDM.com Exclusive]

If there’s anyone to deliver a Halloween mix and send shivers down your spine, it’s Malaa.

Gritty, sinister house music has long been his calling card. And that’s exactly what the balaclava-clad producer delivered after dropping a brand-new, blood-curdling mix ahead of this year’s Escape Halloween festival.

Exclusively premiering via EDM.com, the mix is signature Malaa. The house music superstar slithers in with “Intro,” the eerie instrumental track that kicked off last year’s remarkable debut album, Don Malaa. Spins of the menacing, Wax Motif-assisted “Otherside” and a handful of huge unreleased tunes only add to the tension.

It’s not all scares, however. Malaa, a seasoned selector, incorporates many flavors of house music to deliver a mix designed more for the club than the graveyard. You’ll hear spins of Deeper Purpose’s “Get Up” and Seb Zito’s “Lights Down,” among other hip-shaking cuts. He even interpolates the vocals from Justin Timberlake’s “Rock Your Body” at one point.

Malaa joins Zedd, Above & Beyond, Rezz, DJ Snake, Kaskade and many more at the 2023 Escape Halloween festival, which returns to SoCal’s NOS Events Center from October 27-28. You can check out his full exclusive mix, courtesy of EDM.com and Insomniac Events, below.

Yungblud joins Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes for new single ‘Happier’

Yungblud has collaborated with Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon on his new track ‘Happier’.

The new single marks the second collaboration from the pair following Bring Me The Horizon’s 2020 single ‘Obey’, and arrives ahead of Yungblud’s stint with the band on their upcoming Asia tour.

Broken, I’m not broken, I’m not broken / I’m just a little depressed,” the pair sing together on the purging track. “I’m just scared to belong here / Scared to be happier.”

Speaking about the track in a press statement, Yungblud – real name Dominic Harrison – said: “I have almost been conditioned by myself my whole life to be in pain. When I’m in pain I work better. I function better because I have something to combat. It’s dark but it’s all I’ve ever known.

“The feeling of happiness is scary because you feel like it’s all about to go wrong. I have always felt that if I’m happy I’ll get complacent so it’s lost me a lot of opportunity for friendships and relationships in the past.”

He continued: “I got really emotional when writing this. I was craving another Yungblud song that would burn in my stomach, make me feel like it’s all gonna be ok and encourage me to fight back against old habits and try my best to re-align myself to be better. It’s ok to find happiness, it’s ok to feel it. I hope you find a little bit of it in this song. You deserve it. Everyone does.”

Listen to it below.

Speaking to NME for his big read interview about the pair’s first collab, Yungblud said he found comfort in the similarities between Sykes’ style, music and upbringing to his own.

“He literally redefined my perception of growing up in wearing make-up and being different in the north. He basically saved my life,” he said.

Speaking about ‘Obey’, Yungblud added: “I’d waited my whole life to scream on a Bring Me The Horizon song. I was pissed in LA when he called and I told him that I was going to the studio immediately.

“He’s like, ‘Woah, woah, woah – we haven’t finished the song’. I said I’d been waiting for this call my whole life, got into the studio, turned the mic on and just screamed for seven hours.”

Sykes also previously loaded praise on Yungblud in an interview with NME. “He’s [Yungblud] the kind of artist that rock needs – the kind of rockstar that changes a scene. I love him; he lights up a room. He’s the polar opposite to me. I wish I could have that confidence that he has. It’s infectious and that’s why a lot of kids look up to him.”

He added: “Not since Bowie have we had people who are just so unashamedly and genuinely themselves and don’t give fuck or play by the rules.

“Even Yungblud was like, ‘Doing a song together is so good for the scene’. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got the best band in the world, because if that’s the only one, then that scene dies… You can count on two hands the prominent rock bands that aren’t legacy acts or indie/pop bands like The 1975.”

‘Happier’ followed Yungblud’s recent singles in his new era, ‘Lowlife‘ and ‘Hated‘. The latter saw him confront childhood trauma after opening up about being molested as a child.

Reflecting on the State of the Music Industry, Jimmy Iovine Says "Fame Has Replaced Great"

Has being an artist turned into a never-ending cycle of chasing social media clicks and streaming metrics? Tenured music executive Jimmy Iovine seems to think so.

In a recent interview with Consequence’s “UNCUT” podcast, the storied Interscope Records co-founder shared his personal impressions on the state of the music industry—and it wasn’t unanimously glowing remarks.

“What happened in music is fame has replaced great,” Iovine lamented. “It’s happened in society basically. Fame has replaced great.”

Iovine points to society’s ever-increasing social media usage, the emphasis on streaming metrics as a measure of success, and the present and future use of generative AI as some of the primary drivers of this perceived trend.

“Artists are making so much money in so many different places, which is fantastic, but after they have a hit record, they can earn a lot of money on Instagram and all this stuff,” he elaborated. “I feel that a lot of people, a lot of artists, not all, but a lot of artists are taking their foot off the gas in the record-making category. And that’s affecting the quality of the work. And I think you’re seeing that in a lot of different genres right now.”

Similar sentiment was echoed recently by EDM superstar David Guetta, who recently contemplated what kind of role social media and technology are playing when it comes to the art form of DJing specifically.

“There’s almost some DJs that play for Instagram more than for the people,” Guetta asserted. “You see 5,000 people with their phones filming the show, because they want to say to their fans that they were there, but no one is dancing.”

INXS reunite for special release projects, remember “talented” Michael Hutchence

INXS reunited briefly in Sydney this week to celebrate the release of several new projects, where they also remembered their late frontman Michael Hutchence.

The surviving members of the Australian rock band – Garry Gary Beers, Kirk Pengilly and brothers Andrew, Jon and Tim Farriss – reunited Tuesday (October 17) at Sydney’s Intercontinental Hotel for their first time since 2017.

Their gathering celebrated the release of their new book Calling All Nations, a 400-plus “love letter” with stories and pictures from the band and their fans. It’s out now and can be ordered in three different formats here, including a limited-edition ‘Super Deluxe’ box, hand-signed by the members of INXS.

During the launch, Andrew Farriss remembered their “talented, dynamic a frontman” Hutchence, who died by suicide in 1997. After his death, it emerged that Hutchence had suffered brain damage after being assaulted by a taxi driver in Denmark in 1995.

Speaking about the book, Pengilly recalled how the artists had “no idea how much it meant to so many individual fans. It wasn’t always about the show,” according to Billboard.

Pengilly added that stories from fans include “driving six hours to meet their friends to get ready to go to the gig”. He continued that “they might just somehow meet us backstage or have an interaction and a look from one of us on stage,” and “they feel a connection. Yeah, I found it really emotional.”

A description for the new book reads: “Calling All Nations – A Fan History of INXS is a visual and written history of the band curated from generous contributions of 100s of their fans, as well as memories and archive material from the band themselves.”

It includes essays from UMG’s Andrew Kronfeld and Live Nation’s Arthur Fogel.

Also on the band’s slate of new releases is ‘All Juiced Up Part 2’ – a collection of nine limited edition coloured vinyl 12 inch records, featuring remixes of INXS classics like ‘Need You Tonight’, ‘Listen Like Thieves’ and ‘New Sensation’.

A 30th anniversary edition of ‘Full Moon, Dirty Hearts’, for which record producer and songwriter Giles Martin has created an exclusive, immersive audio edition, is also due out November 2.

The nine records that make up ‘All Juiced Up Part 2’ have all been remastered at Abbey Road. They can be pre-ordered here.

The last time the whole band was together was their 40th anniversary celebration in 2017.

During their talk in Sydney, the band remember their late longtime manager and “seventh member” Chris Murphy, who died in 2021, aged 66. “Chris was hungry,” said Pengilly. “He just took no prisoners”.

INXS also shutdown any hopes of a live show any time soon, in any capacity. The band split up in 2012 after 35 years together.

“To be fair to us is that,” said Andrew Farriss, “as people losing someone as talented, dynamic a frontman as Michael, it became really in the forefront of our minds that, okay, we’ve created this legacy and we own it. And so we’ll decide when we want to play or not. That’s the important point, to not have it dictated to what we can and can’t do when we feel like it.”

He continued that what “is appealing to me” is “who that singer could possibly be. There must be someone that we haven’t even thought of or discovered or found it. That could be an amazing thing to happen.”

Britney Spears had an abortion while dating Justin Timberlake

Britney Spears has revealed that she went through an abortion while she was dating Justin Timberlake two decades ago.

  • READ MORE: The Story of Britney Spears’ ‘…Baby One More Time’

The revelation was made in the pop icon’s upcoming tell-all memoir, The Woman In Me, set for release on October 24. While the book hasn’t been released, PEOPLE has shared an excerpt from the book, in which Spears recounts her experience during the ordeal.

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake began dating in 1999 and were a couple until their split in 2002. The excerpt shared by PEOPLE does not include a specified date or year when the abortion took place, only that it happened while they were dating.

“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” Spears wrote in the book. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”

Spears added: “If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father. To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”

Justin Timberlake has yet to comment on Spears’ revelation.

Britney Spears’ sharing of the excerpts comes after it was revealed that she will not be narrating the audiobook version of the upcoming memoir due to the “heart-wrenching” time of “reliving” experiences. Instead, the singer has revealed that actress Michelle Williams will be the one taking the reins. Spears will only be reading the book’s introduction.

Spears first announced she was working on a book back in April 2022. “I’m writing a book at the moment and as it’s actually healing and therapeutic… it’s also hard bringing up past events in my life…I’ve never been able to express openly,” she wrote in a since deleted Instagram post.

The Woman In Me will explore the pop star’s rise to fame, music career and time becoming a mother. It is also set to see Spears talk about her 13-year-long conservatorship in detail for the first time.
