Bruce Springsteen releases new single ‘Addicted To Romance’

Bruce Springsteen has shared a new single, ‘Addicted To Romance’, which was co-produced and orchestrated by The National‘s Bryce Dessner.

The single was recorded for the soundtrack of the new Rebecca Miller film She Came To Me and also features vocals from his wife, and member of the E Street Band, Patti Scialfa. The National touring members Benjamin Lanz and Kyle Resnick also appear on trombone and trumpet respectively.

“When Rebecca asked me about working on a song for the end credits, I immediately thought (perhaps unrealistically!) that it would be incredible to ask Bruce Springsteen to write a song,” Dessner said [via SPIN]. “Rebecca agreed, and we sent the film to Bruce, and, to our surprise and delight, he responded very positively. Shortly after, Bruce sent us a demo of the song he wrote inspired by the film, which felt like an instant classic the minute we heard it.”

Continuing, Dessner said, “as a lifelong Bruce fan, along with my bandmates, he is one of our biggest influences, it was a dream to work on this song with Bruce, and he was incredibly generous and open to my ideas and contributions.”

Check out ‘Addicted To Romance’ below:

The film stars Peter Dinklage as a composer married to Anne Hathaway, who has an affair with Marisa Tomei while he’s attempting to deal with writer’s block.

Meanwhile, The Boss recently was forced to postpone all his remaining 2023 tour dates citing his continuing battle with peptic ulcer disease.

A statement notes that while Springsteen has “continued to recover steadily”, he has been advised to “continue treatment through the rest of the year” per consultations with his doctor.

The statement included a personal note from Springsteen himself, who thanked “friends and fans” for their “good wishes, encouragement, and support”. He added: “I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.”

Techno-Fueled Spectacles, High-Energy House Sets and More: The Best From CRSSD's Fall 2023 Festival

Is there anything more idyllic than dancing to classic house grooves under the Southern California sun? Or how about an evening of grimy techno beats where you can sweat it out while the ocean breeze cools you down?

Luckily for us, there is a place where you can experience those sublime moments, and that place is San Diego’s CRSSD Fest.

Jason Myers

Produced by FNGRS CRSSD, the biannual festival continues to advance its mission of consistently delivering a strong lineup of electronic tastemakers alongside a reliable, seaside setting. This centrally located venue offers three diverse stages with an unaltered layout from past events, offering returning guests a sense of familiarity while navigating its spaces.

Closing out its 2023 season, the fall edition of this year’s event was stacked with major names from within the realms of techno and house music. From an insanely high-energy techno spectacle to a veteran’s tongue-in-cheek lively performance, these are the top sets that permeated the grounds of Waterfront Park.

Kicking off our list is this adrenaline-infused performance by none other than Patrick Mason. This techno-twerking timebomb is known for his relentless beats that pair perfectly with his infectious high-energy moves behind, beside, and above the decks. Mason commanded the City Steps stage and left us wanting more.

Chris Stussy

Jason Myers

As the sun set on the first night of CRSSD, Chris Stussy kept the fire burning with his inferno of a performance. The Dutch DJ and producer had the Palms stage grooving throughout his set where four-on-the-floor beats were the name of the game. From classic house tracks to fresh bangers, the Stuss-master put on a blazing spectacle.

Chris Lake b2b Cloonee

Jason Myers

One of a handful of special back-to-back sets throughout the weekend, Chris Lake teamed up with Cloonee to close out the first night of the weekender. With it being one of the most anticipated sets of the night, the Palms stage overflowed with fans, who could be heard singing along to Lake’s classic songs. Cloonee’s distinct take on house music paired perfectly well alongside Lake’s signature sounds.

Fatboy Slim

Jason Myers

It’s safe to say no one does it quite like Fatboy Slim. The electronic veteran showcased his impeccable mixing abilities throughout the ninety-minute performance. His tongue-in-cheek visuals could be seen across the entirety of the Ocean View stage, allowing partygoers to get in a good laugh while singing and dancing along.

Will Clarke b2b DJ Minx

We were not dressed to go to church, but Will Clarke and DJ Minx took us there. The pair went back-to-back at the City Steps stage and manifested euphoria on the dance floor. With each passing track, we raised our hands and preached, “Hallelujah”.

Charlotte de Witte

Jason Myers

Immediately following a stand-out performance by her partner Enrico Sangiuliano, Charlotte de Witte took to the decks and dominated the City Steps stage. Her unmistakably broody, pulsating sounds echoed through the venue, enrapturing festivalgoers. With tinges of psytrance and heart-pounding techno beats, de Witte managed to properly close out the final night of the event.

Grammy Award-winning Dave Giles II, recognized for his soulful voice on Beyoncé’s “Cozy” from her landmark RENNAISANCE album, pairs up with the funk-master, Sam O.B. for a throwback release on Classic Records.

It isn’t the first time these two have teamed up. Back in 2016, they fused hip hop rhythms with contemporary house elements to establish a sound all their own. Since then they’ve continued to work together, remixing and re-imagining a handful of hits including Coco and Breezy’s “Magic.”

Now supported by iconic imprint Defected’s Classic Records label, their recent release “Not The Same,” navigates minimalist soundscapes and hip hop stylings that emphasize catchy, repetitive lyrics set against an edgy electronic backdrop.

Watch Yungblud tease new collaboration by surprise calling a fan

Yungblud teased a new collaboration with a video of him surprise calling a fan and playing her his new song.

In a new video posted to his social media, the fan is seen screaming “OH MY GOD!” when she sees the Doncaster-born artist after answering the call, with Yungblud laughing in response.

“I am going to play you a new song,” he said in the video, “and it’s a collaboration.”

The fan responds, “Wait, with who?”, but Yungblud’s reply is bleeped out. Nonetheless, she is seen screaming “YES!” in response.

In the caption, Yungblud jokingly offers “20 quid goes to who guesses first ?!?!?”

Check out the clip below:

It is not yet known when the new single could be coming out.

The forthcoming collaboration is set to be the next single from Yungblud’s promised “new era” and follows on the heels of recent tracks ‘Lowlife’ and ‘Hated’.

Prior to the release of ‘Hated’, Yungblud discussed part of the inspiration behind the song, namely that he was molested by a doctor when he was a child.

In a social media post, the singer, real name Dominic Harrison, said the incident took place when he was seven years old. He said he had never told anyone until he admitted it to his producer while writing ‘Hated’, which he described as “the most personal thing I’ve ever released”.

“when i was seven years old i was molested by a doctor. i never told anyone until i told my producer when this song started to come out,” he began. “this is the most personal song i’ve ever released. that’s not to say it’s soft or gentle. far from it.

“it’s a rallying cry and an exposition of the soul.”

He continued: “the song is ultimately about freeing yourself from bad experiences and trauma. finding inner strength. acknowledging your past, accepting the pain and having the courage not to let it define your future.

“You’ve got to kill somebody to be somebody to be who you want to be. You’ve got to hit rock bottom and live through all of the shit nobody believes. You’ve got to hurt some people but first some people will thirst on watching you bleed. And that’s when you know that you’ve made it. When you’re hated.”

Sherm Teams Up With PODS For Thumping Tech House Single “Madonna” [Hood Politics]

Chicago based DJ, A&R, podcaster, and entrepreneur Sherm is having his biggest year to date – fresh off electrifying performances at North Coast Festival’s Vega Stage and a massive Lollapalooza afterparty alongside ACRAZE.

Now, he’s back with another breakthrough act from the Windy City, who go by the name of PODS, for a thumping tech house single “Madonna” signed to one of our favorite labels, Hood Politics. “Madonna” is a track that takes you on a trip to the underground, delivering a hypnotic bass groove, crisp drum beats and somewhat futuristic synth melodies – coming together flawlessly for a result that makes you want to move your body.

“Teaming up with one of Chicago’s most promising young duos on this track was such a blast. Pods brought a super unique foundation and I immediately knew which direction to take when we started working on it. It’s an underground groover hits harder than Will Smith and fuses melodic and tech house together harmoniously. The perfect weapon for any DJ and all fans of tech house. In the club, we’re all listening to “Madonna”. – Sherm

PODS add, “When we created Madonna, we had one word in mind: unique. We wanted to combine elements of modern day tech house with a melodic foundation that brings that Chicago energy. We couldn’t be happier with the final result and all of the great reactions when playing it live.

In addition to the single, Sherm has revealed that he is taking the reins as the moderator for the official ADE Panel titled The Tech/House Boom in the US: What’s In It for You? – a round table chat featuring industry heavyweights like DJ Susan (CEO of Hood Politics), Kaysin (Repopulate Mars A&R), & Carissa Szlosek (Prodigy Artists). He’ll also be performing at the joint Hood Politics & Bring The Kingdom showcase on October 21.
