Pregoblin joined on stage by Pete Doherty in Brixton to launch new single

Pregoblin were joined on stage by Pete Doherty at a recent London gig, following the launch of their new single ‘Big Hitters’.

The band is the new project of Jessica Winter and former Fat White Family collaborator Alex Sebley, who are set to release their debut album ‘PREGOBLIN II’ in January next year.

Now, at their most recent live show in Brixton last night (September 13), the indie band celebrated the release of their new single, and brought out The Libertines frontman Pete Doherty to the stage.

The gig was held at the Windmill venue in the country’s capital, and saw Doherty join Winter and Sebley for the recent single they released together, ‘These Hands AKA Danny The Knife’.

The two joined forces to create the song earlier this year, and following its release back in July, the musicians confirmed it to be centred around themes of loneliness and a lack of fulfilment that comes after one has achieved all their biggest aspirations. Check out footage of Doherty on stage with the band at the intimate Brixton gig below.

As well as bringing the indie veteran on stage for their latest live show, Pregoblin also celebrated the release of their new single yesterday.

Titled ‘Big Hitters’, the single is the second to be taken from the upcoming album, following on from lead track ‘These Hands AKA Danny The Knife’, and features a guest appearance from American rock musician and radio host Armand Schaubroeck.

Discussing the motivation behind the song, the frontman explained that it is reflective of the darker side of the music business and looks to help those who have experienced it firsthand feel seen. “It’s a song for all those who have had a bitter experience of the music industry,” said Sebley. “Theft, desperation, nepotism & other people.”

It also comes with an accompanying music video, directed by Sophie Coppin and featuring guest appearances from Lias & Nathan Saoudi and Adam Brenan (Fat White Family), Sam Toms (Temples), Georgia Keeling, Anna McDowell, Erin Lawrie, Dexter Krenal (DXTA), Dante Traynor & Anna Hand. Find the music video for the new single below and pre-order the forthcoming album here.

Pregoblin’s run of live shows continues tonight (September 14), with a show at the Wasteland venue in Margate.

In other Pete Doherty news, earlier this year, the singer-songwriter announced his first solo acoustic tour of the UK and Ireland in 10 years.

The ‘Battered Songbook Tour’ kicked off in April and ran until May, and saw him incorporating songs from The Libertines, Babyshambles  and his own solo projects – ending with a performance in London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Additionally, The Libertines drummer Gary Powell recently confirmed when the band’s forthcoming new album will be released – stating that the follow up to the band’s 2015 LP ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’ will arrive in January.

Watch BTS’ Jungkook, TXT celebrate MTV VMAs wins together

BTS‘ Jungkook and Tomorrow X Together (TXT) recently gathered to celebrate their wins at the 2023 MTV VMAs.

Over the weekend, K-pop boyband Tomorrow X Together took home the trophy for Push Performance of the Year for ‘Sugar Rush Ride’. The group also premiered their as-yet-unreleased single ‘Back for More’, featuring Anitta.

Meanwhile, BTS’ Jungkook won Song of the Summer for his hit single ‘Seven’, featuring Latto. However, the K-pop idol was not in attendance at the ceremony to accept the award.

Jungkook and the members of TXT were later seen out at dinner celebrating their wins over dinner, in a series of Instagram Stories by Bang Si-hyuk. Notably, Bang is the founder of Big Hit Music, home to both K-pop acts.

“They tore up the stage tonight LOL,” Bang wrote in his first post. Meanwhile, the second video features TXT member Yeonjun blowing out candles on top of his birthday cake. The K-pop idol turned 24 on Monday (September 14).

The final post in the series of Instagram Stories features Bang sitting next to BTS’ Jungkook, who strikes several poses. “There’s a spoiler! A big one,” Bang captioned the story, seemingly a hint at the K-pop idol’s next release.

Elsewhere during the night, Stray Kids made their debut MTV VMAs appearance with a performance of ’S-Class’, which garnered a huge reaction from pop superstar Taylor Swift.

Swift was later seen standing up and clapping during Stray Kids’ speech when the boyband accepted the award for Best K-pop. The group beat out acts such as aespa, BLACKPINK and SEVENTEEN to win the trophy.

"Largest Screen on the Planet": Here's What the Inside of the Vegas Sphere Looks Like

Unveiling the heart of the internet’s current favorite spectacle, the Vegas Sphere’s inner sanctum may rewrite the rulebook of entertainment in Sin City.

Odds are you’ve caught wind of the viral $2.3 billion Sphere, the exterior of which illuminated for the first time on July 4th, 2023. At a towering 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide, it’s both the world’s biggest spherical structure and largest LED screen, according to a press release issued by its proprietors, Sphere Entertainment.

The complex’s exterior consists of approximately 1.2 million hockey puck-shaped LEDs, each of which contains 48 individual diodes capable of emitting 256 million different colors.

Now, iconic Black Swan filmmaker Darren Aronofsky has posted the first video of the Sphere’s interior, which contains the world’s highest-resolution wraparound LED screen. His new film, a “part sci-fi story, part nature documentary” called Postcard From Earth, is premiering on October 6th.

“my iphone can’t come close to capturing the definition on the screen,” he wrote. “at times you forget where you are and you’re transported to the other side of our home.”

“I see Sphere as a great opportunity to pluck people from the bling and thrum of the Vegas strip in all its human constructed madness and immerse them as fully as possible in the wonder, awe, and beauty of the natural world,” Aronofsky said earlier this year.

With a capacity of roughly 18,000 people, the Sphere will host concerts, film viewings and sporting events. It’s easy to drool at the thought of a rave beneath its gargantuan 16K LED screen, which has the capability to envelop crowds with immersive visual projections.

Rezz’s mouth is already watering. “Ya I need to play a show in there immediately,” the Canadian electronic music superstar said earlier this summer.

There are over 160,000 speakers spread around the Sphere’s interior audience bowl, according to the venue’s producers, who said the venue will also feature haptic seats that vibrate in tandem with the giant screen’s visuals.

It seems the Sphere’s sound will meet the moment as well. A demonstration of its cutting-edge audio system, Sphere Immersive Sound, took place on Friday, July 21st from inside the venue, according to Pollstar.

“Sound is key and we paid a great deal of attention to it,” said James Dolan, Executive Chairman and CEO, MSG Entertainment. “What we have created here is as close as you can get in a full venue of replicating the human sense of sound. And we’re programming to it, and everything [you’ll hear] now is because of the technology we’re using, everything that you hear is intentional. Not causal. Meaning that once you hear it, you’ll know it yourselves.”

The Sphere is scheduled to officially open on September 29th with the first concert of a series featuring legendary rock band U2. You can find out more and purchase tickets to “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere” here.

Ex-NMIXX’s Jini teases solo EP, ‘An Iron Hand in a Velvet Glove’

Former NMIXX member Jini has teased her upcoming solo EP, titled ‘An Iron Hand in a Velvet Glove’.

Today (September 14), Jini released three teaser images for ‘An Iron Hand in a Velvet Glove’, which will be her first-ever solo release. The first pictures features her wearing a J-shaped earing, overlayed with the EP’s title.

The second teaser is a black-and-white image that features a pair of hands wearing numerous metal rings. Meanwhile, the last picture is a plain graphic of a letter J in the middle, alongside the EP’s title.

It’s currently unclear when Jini will release ‘An Iron Hand in a Velvet Glove’. Keep tabs on this page for the latest updates.

A day prior, the former NMIXX member also released a video called “Stay tuned (really)” on her label’s YouTube channel. The clip features footage from the singer’s life, alongside glimpses of her in a recording booth and practicing choreography in a dance studio.

The teasers come just weeks after Jini seemingly hinted at new solo music in a TikTok post earlier this month. That clip had been soundtracked by what appeared to be an unreleased song from the singer, and featured the caption: “Thank you for waiting.”

Back in April, the K-pop idol has dropped a cryptic “Stay tuned” teaser on the on the YouTube channel of her new agency, Abstract To Concrete (known then as United Artist Production).

Jini left both NMIXX and JYP Entertainment in December 2022. At the time, JYP Entertainment said that Jinni was leaving “due to personal circumstances”.

Watch Never-Before-Seen Videos of Avicii Producing His Debut Album, "True"

It’s tough to believe a decade has passed since Avicii’s first album.

Today marks the 10-year anniversary of the release of True, an album that functions as a time capsule of the legendary electronic music artist, who tragically died by suicide at 28. Pophouse and Universal are paying tribute by releasing “unfiltered footage” of its creative process, which Avicii said led to “the best work [he had] ever done.”

True contains a handful of generational dance anthems, including the ageless “Wake Me Up.” You can now watch never-before-seen clips from the True era, like footage from Avicii’s tour of the same name as well as videos from the studio sessions recording “Addicted to You.”

Fans can also celebrate by virtue of two limited edition True vinyl prints, which will be reissued on an “exclusive new color,” according to a press release shared with EDM.com. Meanwhile, the album’s remix bundle, True: Avicii By Avicii, will release on vinyl for the first time. You can pre-order both formats here.

“The whole album was by far like the biggest thing I’ve ever done,” Avicii said. “So you know I really felt from the start that these are, you know, it’s the best work I’ve ever done.”

You can watch a bevy of clips below.

Elsewhere in the Avicii world, a new documentary is currently being developed by the Academy Award-winning film producer Lawrence Bender. The project will feature “previously unreleased footage” recorded around the time of Avicii’s discovery and rise to fame, as well as interviews with his family and friends.

The release date of the documentary, which Bender called “eye-opening,” has not yet been revealed at the time of writing.

“Avicii changed the music industry,” said Orlando John, Bender’s producing partner. “People think they know the story, but they have really no clue as to what actually happened. I feel a profound responsibility to ensure that it’s told accurately and objectively. This documentary will give the audiences a deeper understanding of the brand that left an indelible mark on music and culture.”

Michael Cera responded to a ‘Scott Pilgrim’ cast email nine years late

Michael Cera responded to a cast email for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World nine years late, producer Bryan Lee O’Malley has revealed.

The original cast of the Edgar Wright‘s hit comedy are reuniting this year for a new anime series set to hit screens in November.

In advance of the show, the cast and production team behind the series spoke to EW about the legacy of the 2010 film and how they wanted to reconnect with the film’s principals when making the new series.

One thing they did to achieve this was revisit an old email chain between the cast and crew from around the time of the film.

“The cast have spoken about this email chain a lot but there’s one detail that I don’t think anyone has mentioned,” O’Malley explained. “We were exchanging emails when the movie was coming out and then this thread went dormant for about nine years.

“Then, before this anime was even on the docket, Michael Cera responded to a meme someone had sent as if no time had passed. He just said, ‘Oh, that’s funny.’ Chris Evans responded like, ‘Michael, what the fuck are you doing responding to this email from nine years ago?’ And then we all started chatting again.”

Last month, Netflix released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime series.

While the trailer doesn’t give much of the show’s plot away, it features scenes identical to Wright‘s live-action film. Cera starred in the titular role in that film, with supporting performances from Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers. Mark Webber will return as Stephen Stills, alongside Alison Pill as Kim Pine, and Johnny Simmons as Young Neil.

The live-action film’s full cast are also returning to voice their respective characters in the series. The cast boasts the likes of Chris Evans, Brie Larson, Brandon Routh, Keiran Culkin, Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Ellen Wong, Jason Schwartzman, Satya Bhabha and more.

In July 2020, the film’s cast reunited over Zoom in a virtual reunion hosted by Wright to celebrate the film’s anniversary and to raise money for the non-profit Water for People.
