KIDSGONEMAD! has another piece. Just over a month ago, ISOxo formally broke his musical radio silence that ensued for a majority of 2023 with the first offering from his debut album. And now, “dontstopme!” is receiving a tracklist sibling to hopefully allude towards monthly ISOxo deliveries until the album’s full delivery in the coming months. Right at the end of his return to HARD Summer, Dancing Astronaut‘s co-2022 Breakout Artist of the Year was joined by Ninajirachi to bring “SHYPOP” into the ID chamber. A few weeks later and it’s now ISOxo’s second KIDSGONEMAD! single on 88Rising.
“SHYPOP” is an unquestionable repositioning from the purebred nature of trap on “dontstopme!,” but it presents the stage for ISOxo to demonstrate his wide-reaching range, offering a peek into the variety that the currently unscheduled album is set to be rife with. And ISOxo and Ninajirachi freely mix on “SHYPOP,” bringing together their own flavor of happy hardcore with a tint of techno. As we hold on for more KIDSGONEMAD! details in the not-so-distant future, stream “SHYPOP” below.
A Frankie Knuckles remix that was first created a decade ago has finally seen the light of day.
The remix – a reworking of ‘Waiting On You’ by Ultra Naté and Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child – was created by the late house DJ and Eric Kupper under their Director’s Cut alias.
Speaking on the track, Ultra Naté said: “The remix was blessed by my mentor, big brother and cultural icon, Frankie Knuckles, officially ‘The Godfather of House Music,’ who at the time, was making his way back into remix and production work as ‘Director’s Cut’ along with Eric Kupper.”
Naté later confirmed reports that Knuckles approved the release of the track before his death in 2014.
The decade-old release coincides with Frankie Knuckles Day, a celebration in Chicago which takes place on August 25 to honour the late producer, who pioneered the sound of house music.
“‘Waiting On You’ has always been a centrepiece of the ‘Hero Worship’ album and there’s no better time than now to drop it for Frankie Knuckles Day,” Naté added.
Check it out below.
Knuckles was frequently referred to as the ‘Godfather Of House Music’ and shaped the genre’s sound as it emerged and became popular in 1980s Chicago. He died on March 31, 2014 at the age of 59 due to complications from type 2 diabetes.
Kupper paid tribute to the producer on X/Twitter ahead of Frankie Knuckles Day tomorrow.
“As we celebrate Frankie Knuckles Day tomorrow, August 25, I’m posting this pic of the last time Frankie and I played together, 10 years ago, October 2013 at ADE in Amsterdam,” he wrote. “I miss you so much, my brother Frankie. Thanks for watching over me and guiding me musically.”

The remix of ‘Waiting On You’ isn’t the first unreleased Frankie Knuckles remix to have surfaced as of late. Another mix, which was over an hour in length that was recorded in 1986, came out last year.
Like a bat out of hell, the young beatsmith has furiously ascended the bass music ranks as one of the genre’s brightest producers in 2023. Wonky sound design and teeth-rattling bass are his usual keystones, but they’re absent in The Familiar, a three-track stunner where melancholy is canon.
LYNY has stepped far out of his comfort zone to elevate his music to new heights—and it’s a departure worth celebrating. Storytelling is at the core of the new EP, out now on Of The Trees’ groundbreaking Memory Palace imprint, which is quickly becoming a formidable tastemaker in the electronic music community.
LYNY kicks off with the house-inspired “Cat Tale,” a warm-and-fuzzy ode to his cat Kitty, who sadly passed away around the time he wrote the song. He follows with the languid electronica of “Attach,” a wistful track beholden to the butterfly effect of his past relationships, before closing with “Home,” a cozy four-on-the-floor beat he produced after visiting his parents’ house after a long stretch of touring.
The Familiar, LYNY says, is essentially a microcosm of his learned ability to concretize life’s intangible lessons.
“Familiar is a complex idea for when you treat something immaterial—like happiness, fear, or evil—as a material thing,” LYNY said in a press release. “This can be a way of making something concrete and easier to understand. In this case, the music itself is a material thing, which serves as the familiar, or reification, of what I’ve learned about growing as a person in the past few years.”

The last three weeks have been quite a stretch for Anyma. After sharing his debut album Genesys on August 11 and immediately following it with a remix of Lana Del Rey‘s “Say Yes To Heaven,” the Afterlife co-founder has now turned in his highly requested take on Portugal. The Man‘s “Time’s a Fantasy.” This time moving to the American rock band, Anyma has put a melodic spin on one of the slower songs off of the band’s latest album, Chris Black Changed My Life. And in surprising fashion, Anyma’s version isn’t the first dance remix for Portugal. The Man in 2023, with Chris Lake having already reworked “Dummy” back in March.
Following the recent merger between Dancing Astronaut’s 2022 Label of the Year Afterlife and Universal’s Interscope Records, Anyma has been able to reach a new audience of untapped listeners. And in his latest delivery in 2023, Anyma uses his production talents to take Jeff Bhasker’s vocals from “Time’s a Fantasy” and overlay them across a cinematic, progressive framework. Leaning more towards the euphoric and trance side of Anyma’s recent releases, “Time’s A Fantasy” has undeniably been a surreal moment in his sets since the remix’s debut at Coachella. Stream the remix below.

The Pacific Northwest is about to get a double-dose of Subtronics, who has announced a pair of momentous headlining gigs at Washington’s Tacoma Dome.
Co-produced by Live Nation and Insomniac’s Bassrush brand, the concerts will offer a “state-of-the-art audiovisual experience” to fans of the dubstep superstar, whose love of lasers is rivaled only by his wonky and ferocious bass drops. He’ll be joined by Of The Trees and EDM.com Class of 2023 star MARAUDA, among others.
With a capacity of 21,000, the Tacoma Dome comes with the promise of delivering shows that would rank among the biggest of Subtronics’ career. Earlier this year he tore up LA’s Kia Forum arena, which holds roughly 17,000 people.

Subtronics, who was named one of EDM.com‘s best music producers of 2020, recently revealed he’s in the process of recording his long-awaited sophomore album. Mum’s the word on a title or release date at this time, but considering his affinity for debuting new music in his high-flying DJ sets, fans attending the Tacoma Dome shows are likely to hear new music from the record.
Subtronics’ upcoming takeover of the Tacoma Dome is scheduled for Friday, November 24th and Saturday, November 25th. Tickets are on sale now.
In a testament to the ID’s staying power, “Diamonds On My Mind” has been on, well, everyone’s mind for months now. The sweltering number from a producer whose name has been perched on the tongues of damn near everyone in house and techno circles this year slaps down a hammering beat that pulses like a heart on overdrive. A lone rave synth lead zips frenetically through the febrile production, which evokes the darkness and grit of a warehouse situated somewhere in Brooklyn, where the urgency to move body to beat is greater than anyone’s awareness of the rising sun.
Of course, it bears mention that “Diamonds On My Mind” already commanded dance floors well before its official release, most notably serving as a flashpoint of John Summit‘s sets. It capably follows Eli Brown‘s fellow singles this year, “Be The One” and “Love Is Free,” in a dizzying affirmation of Brown’s ear for the underground’s next desire.
Artificial intelligence has made remarkable progress in generating music autonomously. Several music tech companies now offer AI composition platforms that can output royalty-free, original music in virtually any genre and style for creatives and businesses.
This guide provides an overview of the leading AI music composers and evaluates their key capabilities, ideal use cases, and limitations.
How AI Music Composers Work

Evaluating Output Quality
The overall quality and listenability varies across the different AI music platforms. When evaluating results, consider:
Musicality – do melodies and chords sound realistic and pleasing? Does it follow typical musical logic?
Production Quality – is the mix balanced and professionally mastered? Do sounds seem natural?
Style Matching – how closely does it align with the requested genre, mood, tempo, etc?
Cohesiveness – do musical elements hang together over the entire track? Or fall apart unexpectedly?
Listenability – most importantly, does the end result sound good enough for your intended application?
AI music quality continues rapidly improving but still has room to grow. Balancing expectations versus results is key.
Use Cases for AI-Generated Music
AI music composition platforms enable fast, affordable, royalty-free music for:
Video production – YouTube, social media, independent film
Presentations and multimedia – underscore for voiceovers
Podcasts and audio content – themes, intros, transitions
Background scoring – for apps, on-hold messaging, in-store music
Video games – infinite soundtrack generation
Advertising and marketing – video ads, commercials, explainer videos
AI music works best for background scoring needs rather than prominent standalone listening.
Advantages of AI Music Platforms
Key potential benefits of using AI music composition platforms:
Royalty-free – avoids complex licensing of popular songs
Fast turnaround – create loads of music instantly on demand
Cost savings – subscriptions significantly cheaper than hiring composers
Reduced legal risk – original music lessens copyright claims
Musical diversity – wide range of genres, moods, styles
Reusability – generate unlimited iterations and variations
AI music provides soundtrack flexibility difficult for solely human composition.
Current Limitations to Consider
However, AI music generation still has some key current limitations:
Production polish – compositions often need refinement before final use
Lack of familiarity – melodies generally aren’t catchy or hummable
Repetition – can start predictably repeating musical patterns
Unexpected oddities – anomalous generative glitches that need editing
Emotion conveying – struggles capturing subtle moods compared to humans
Lacks style uniqueness – tends to conform closely to data genres
Results don’t yet match human nuance and uniqueness.
The Future of AI Music
AI composition technology continues rapidly improving and advancing. As machine learning models are trained on more data and increased compute power enables more complex generation, results will become even more human-like.

Capturing finer nuances of performance dynamics
Mimicking individual performers and their unique style
Encoding specific musical theory knowledge for more control
Handling more ambiguous mood descriptors like “bittersweet”
Generating music interactively in real time
Enablingeasy back and forth collaboration with AI
While current capabilities remain somewhat limited compared to human composers, AI music generation holds incredible creative potential as the technology matures.
FAQ About AI Music Composers
How is AI music different from royalty free music?
Royalty free refers to licensing. AI music uses machine learning to algorithmically generate compositions. Some platforms combine both.
Is AI music really 100% original?
While influenced by its training data, AI music is not plagiarizing any existing songs. The melodies, chords, and arrangements are new creations.
How quickly can AI generate music?
Most platforms produce complete tracks within seconds. Longer pieces with multiple variations may take 1-2 minutes max to output options.
Does AI music sound realistic and human?
It continues improving but most listeners can discern an AI-created track currently. Catchiness and emotional quality still lags humans.
Will AI kill music industry jobs?
It may impact some background scoring roles but augment more so than replace them. Creativity, ideas, and taste remain human domains. AI provides productive assistance.
The rapid advances in AI music generation provide new creative possibilities for media projects. Evaluate leading solutions to make this emerging technology a part of your production toolkit.
Dave has collaborated with French rapper Tiakola for two new songs, ‘Meridian’ and ‘Special’.
The tracks see the two rappers trade verses back and forth in English, French and Yoruba, while ‘Meridian’ is accompanied by a video shot in Paris, London and New York.
Check out the new tracks below:
The songs serve as the follow-up to Dave’s record-breaking collaboration with Central Cee, ‘Sprinter’, which spent 10 weeks at Number One on the Official UK Singles Chart and became the longest-running UK rap Number One in UK chart history. The song, which is taken from their joint EP, ‘Split Decision, also broke the Spotify UK record for the most-streamed song in a single day this year.
Dave also collaborated with Oxlade on the song ‘INTOXYCATED’ recently and reunited with Burna Boy for the track ‘Cheat On Me’. Earlier this year, he produced a Stormzy single featuring Fredo called ‘Toxic Trait’.
The releases follow on from last year’s ‘Starlight’ and ‘My 24th Birthday’ – the former being his first solo UK Number One and second overall after the 2018 Fredo-assisted ‘Funky Friday’.
In 2019, Dave released his debut album ‘Psychodrama’, which won the Mercury Prize and Album of the Year at the 2020 BRIT Awards. The Streatham rapper followed the record up with the MOBO and BRIT Award-winning 2021 ‘We’re All Alone in This Together’. 2021 also saw Central Cee release his debut mixtape, ‘6 For 6’ and, last year, he released his chart-topping mixtape ‘23’, which included the PinkPantheress-sampling hit ‘Obsessed With You’. He also released his most streamed song to date, ‘Doja’, in July and the surprise EP ‘No More Leaks‘.
“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” That mantra is paramount to Lab Group, the virtuosic bass music outfit founded by Potions, Supertask and the late CharlestheFirst.
Joining forces with tiedye ky and Player Dave, they’ve released a pair of new singles, a true testament to the power of collaboration, friendship and creative exploration. The new songs mark Lab Group’s first original music since 2021’s debut EP, Lab Group I.
“Zoom In” is a wonky banger that rattles the brain with wonky left-field sounds and all-encompassing bass. Deep yet lively, the track yields a filthy listening experience before it winds down to a mellow coda, where a touching vocal sample and soft chimes bring the arrangement home.
“Dipping” takes a softer approach, showcasing Lab Group’s versatility. The ethereal track features vocals from fashion designer and artist Ruku, whose haunting lyricism floats atop a languid beat.
The emotion here is palpable, lending to a passionate and goosebump-inducing listen.
According to Lab Group’s website, a brand-new album, Lab Group 2, is in the works. They’ve recently played sets at Sound Haven and Secret Dreams, among others, and are gearing up for performances at Rezz Rocks, North Coast Music Festival and Suwannee Hulaween.
