Le Youth and Lane 8 Tap Jyll for Heartfelt House Track, "I Will Leave a Light On"

As two of house music’s most emotive producers, Le Youth and Lane 8 know how to tug at heartstrings.

Their latest concoction does just that, as the pair have tapped Jyll for their collaborative effort “I Will Leave a Light On,” out now via Lane 8’s This Never Happened.

“I Will Leave a Light On” is a beautifully crafted track that effortlessly brings out the best in all three contributing artists. The song’s plucky synths accompany Jyll’s vocals wonderfully while the suite of subtle percussion guides us through the four-minute sonic journey. This collaboration is a match made in heaven, leaving an intoxicating taste behind that has us craving more.

Both Le Youth and Lane 8 have remained continuous forces in house music for over a decade. “I Will Leave a Light On” is the second song from the former’s upcoming album, ABOUT US, following the release of “Like You Did.”

Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry involved in legal battle with veteran over California home

Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry are reportedly involved in a legal battle with an elderly veteran over the California home they made an offer on back in 2020.

The dispute stems from the engaged couple’s attempt to buy a mansion in Montecito, California for $15million (£11.8million) from army veteran Carl Westcott, 83, three years ago.

According to the Daily Mail, Westcott had moved into the home two months before the couple bought the estate. Westcott had allegedly signed a real estate contract to sell his home, but later claimed he was under the influence of opioids and painkillers after major back surgery.

In court documents obtained by Daily Mail and The New York Post, Westcott “lacked the mental capacity to understand the nature and probable consequences of the contract”.

A week after signing, Westcott said he began to feel “mentally clear again” after his surgery medication wore off.

Westcott subsequently wrote an email to Berkshire Hathaway, the dual agent for the seller and buyer, saying that he did not want to go through with the sale.

In response, Perry and Bloom’s representative presented Westcott with an increased financial offer – more than he paid for the home. Westcott responded that he “gave it his deepest consideration, but that he is in the final few years of his life and he cannot sell his home”.

Westcott then received a letter from a lawyer advising that the couple were “not willing to walk away from purchasing Mr Westcott’s home and he [was] obligated to complete the sale”. His lawyers have argued that the contract is “voidable” due to their client’s poor health.

Documents also claim that that due to Westcott’s age, Huntington’s disease and “a major six-hour surgery less than a week before the proposed contract”, it had “seriously impaired [his] mental faculties to the point he was of unsound mind and not competent to give his free, voluntary, or intelligent consent to the contract”.

A non-jury trial for the dispute is set for August 21 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles, where his family are representing him.

Back in 2017, Perry was involved in another property dispute and was awarded $3.3million (£2.6million) in damages after a lengthy legal battle over her attempts to buy a Los Angeles convent.

Grabbitz Forges His Own Path on Experimental New Album, "Let Them Only See Butterflies"

While many artists dream of one day carving their own lane, Grabbitz has done so since the early days of his career. With his new album, Let Them Only See Butterflies, he reinforces himself as a tried-and-true innovator.

Out now via Monstercat, Let Them Only See Butterflies is Grabbitz at his finest. Throughout the album’s eight tracks, he does an immaculate job of blending electronic music with alternative rock, creating a captivating sound that’s unlike what we often hear at that intersection. More than anything, however, it’s an expression of his creative genius.

The album features two previously released singles, “Hero” and “Let It Bloom,” and only only collaboration, the YULTRON-assisted “The World Is So Fucked Up.” “SURRENDER PEACE!” is an exemplary showing of Grabbitz’s transformative sound, taking the roots of drum & bass and layering them with aggressive guitar riffs and his own charming vocals.

“This album embodies a few things: becoming what you were meant to be, dealing with pain along the way, and embracing the ride,” says Grabbitz. “I’ve been blessed to have accomplished some of the things I have in my career thus far, and I can’t help but to feel this burning momentum coursing through my veins everyday. Let Them Only See Butterflies represents that rise and stepping into your destiny.”

With his unique sound and poignant songwriting, Grabbitz has long been considered a trailblazer in the electronic music space. He flourishes in Let Them Only See Butterflies, a formidable progression of his foundational skillset.

“I used that intense feeling to deliver this album based on raw intuition,” Grabbitz continued. “Every album I release is simply a byproduct of my insatiable need to express myself through music. I would be on this journey with or without an audience, and I’m blessed to have one, and a supportive one at that.”

Calvin Harris and Sam Smith have released a video for their new collaboration ‘Desire’.

  • READ MORE: Sam Smith live in London: a sweaty and spectacular night out

The track was released last month and peaked at Number Six on the Billboard US Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. The song features a thumping beat with the anthemic chorus, “You are my desire, oh / And just the thought of you is keepin’ me awake / You take me higher, oh / Take me away”, fit for the dance floor.

An accompanying video has since been released which features a group of drag racers driving around, while Smith sings and poses around a race car.

‘Desire’ marks Harris and Smith’s third collaboration together following ‘Promises’ and ‘I’m Not Here To Make Friends’ from Smith’s latest album ‘Gloria’.

Upon the collaboration’s release, ‘Desire’ debuted in the UK Top 20 charts peaking at Number Twelve and has garnered over 18 million streams globally.

The track comes hot off of the heels of ‘Miracle’, Harris’ collaborative single with Ellie Goulding. Klangkarussell share soulful new single ‘Roads Of Gold’

Austrian production duo Klangkarussell return with their uplifting new single ‘Roads Of Gold’, out 10th August on their own label Bias Beach Records.

‘Roads Of Gold’ is a soulful deep house anthem, pairing brooding bass with a soaring vocal line. “Feel like I’m comin’, the road so gold / the light in your castle is burnin’ low”, goes the central hook from featured US vocalist Redward Martin, as the percussion gradually intensifies and uplifting piano chords enter the mix. After a delicately plucked guitar and acapella breakdown, the track builds to a crescendo that cuts to the soul.

Klangkarussell are back in control. As younger men, this Austrian duo wrote ‘Sonnentanz’, a track that went on to be a global, chart topping hit. That naturally took the old Salzburg school friends in a certain direction – which, in the excitement of the moment, they were happy to embrace – but it was always at the whim of others rather than in pursuit of their own musical vision.

Now they’re doing things on their own terms, and on their own label – Bias Beach Records – an imprint that has so far seen the release of twelve Klangkarussell singles since September 2019 (‘Comoros’; ‘Ghostkeeper feat. GIVVEN’; ‘Shipwreck’; ‘My World’; ‘Follow feat. GIVVEN’; ‘Plastic’; ‘Air’, ‘Home’, ‘This Love’, ‘Calling Out Your Name feat. Mando Diao’, ‘I Feel Fine’ and latest track, ‘Sight Of You feat. LissA’). Together, this run of releases has so far accrued an astonishing 200 million streams.

Despite the fact that they have been making music together for a decade, they now have a renewed sense of purpose, energy and inspiration. Throughout their careers, the pair have always been masters of emotion. That emotion has been underpinned by a wide variety of rhythms, but always offered proper structure, and is amplified by Klangkarussell’s trademark synth work. Their DJ sets have remained in demand over the years, which is a testament to the effect they have on crowds everywhere from Phonox and XOYO in London to clubs across the rest of Europe and as far afield as US and Colombia.

‘Roads Of Gold’ is the sound Klangkarussell in their element: making their trademark synth-driven house music with a renewed sense of creativity and purpose.

Babymetal announce collaboration with Tom Morello ‘METALI!!’

Babymetal have announced a new collaboration with Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello titled ‘METALI!!’.

The track marks the first new song by the newly reborn group which now consists of Su-Metal, Moametal and Momometal. According to a press release, the track is very up-tempo and was created with the idea of a summer festival taking place in a metal village where everyone forms a circle to celebrate the festival.

Speaking of the track, Morello shared: “I am a big fan of Babymetal, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I’ve been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of ‘METALI!!’ I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!”

‘METALI!!’ is set for release on August 18. The track comes fresh off off of the heels of Babymetal’s collaboration with rapper Lil Uzi Vert titled ‘The End’.

The group previously announced that they will embark on an intimate UK tour this November.

They are due to play two headline shows at London’s Roundhouse to kick off the intimate run before playing The Civic at The Halls in Wolverhampton. Fans can buy and sell tickets for the gigs at global marketplace, viagogo here.

These shows will be the first time the band’s new line-up has performed in the UK. Earlier this year, Babymetal added former Girls Planet 999 contestant Momoko Okazaki to the group following the departure of original member Yuimetal – real name Yui Mizuno – in 2018.

Okazaki had been a member of a trio of backup dancers, known as Avengers, since 2019 and has adopted the stage name Momometal as part of the “reborn Babymetal”.

Babymetal are also set to perform at this year’s Louder Than Life festival, which is set to take place in Louisville, Kentucky at Highland Festival Grounds at Kentucky Exposition Center from September 21 to 24.

The festival will be headlined by Foo Fighters, Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold. Other musicians set to perform include Weezer, Queens Of the Stone Age, Limp Bizkit and more.

Luci Explores Growth, Love and Loss In Debut Album, "bittersweet"

Stepping away from the genre for which fans know you best isn’t easy, but Luci isn’t afraid of a challenge. Electronic music’s perennial pop queen has released her debut album, bittersweet.

A departure for the EDM.com Class of 2021 star, bittersweet is a poignant commentary on life, heartbreak and growth in your 20s. From melancholy to anger, Luci fearlessly weaves through her emotions after toiling through the throes of an identity crisis.

“It made me do a lot of inner soul-searching,” Luci told us back in February. “And I made a pop song and I was like, ‘Holy s**t!'”

bittersweet spans 17 tracks and includes a handful of previously-released singles, like the angsty “Narcissist.” Incredibly strong from start to finish, the album kicks off with one of Luci’s catchiest tracks, “cry baby.” The vulnerability continues to unfurl on “girl after me” and “please don’t hate me,” among other standout tracks.

All said and done, Luci has done a phenomenal job creating a captivating and cohesive story. Her musings on misfortune, angst and improvement are as relatable as they are digestible.

“This album is the first time I have really written about my personal life experiences in my music,” says Luci. “Every single song is in reference to a situation I went through personally. I named it bittersweet because that’s what relationships really are in your 20s. You fall in love, lose people you love, people you love get hurt and you’re probably going to make 27392926 mistakes. It’s all lessons in the end and these are all my personal experiences with that.”

You can stream bittersweet here.
