IMANU and The Glitch Mob are soundtracking a dream from which you won’t want to wake.

“Dream Sequence” is a brand-new collaboration from one of electronic music’s brightest young minds and an influential veteran act beloved for delivering mind-bending atmospheres. IMANU and The Glitch Mob have joined forces for the new track, which lands on Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats. 

Tucking you into bed with distorted keys that gradually envelop like a warm blanket, the trio welcomes you to their masterfully crafted “Dream Sequence.” As the song progresses, you’re led deeper into their soundscape, which brims with grungy bass that feels as though it contracts and expands like slime, contrasting with metallic keys that slice through the mix.

It’s no surprise that a track produced by two of the most forward-thinking minds in the electronic music arena would feature perplexing sounds that make you question what’s real. The final product is something that’s hard to explain but makes perfect sense in the moment, just like a dream.

Watch XG’s trippy music video for new single ‘TGIF’


Korea-based multinational girl group XG have released their new single called ‘TGIF’.

The music video for XG’s ‘TGIF’ feature trippy imagery, form floating blobs of slime to myrtsical creature the girl group ride on. “VVS’s got nothing on me / Want it, got it, flaunt it, I am queen / Pleased with blessings, look at my body / Wake up, look up in the mirror / T-G-I-F,” they sing on the chorus.

‘TGIF’ will appear on XG’s upcoming debut mini-album ‘New DNA’, which is set to be released in September. The project will also feature the previously released single ‘GRL GVNG’.

News of ‘New DNA’’s upcoming release came shortly after XG went viral with their dual singles ‘Shooting Star’ and ‘Left Right’, which were released in January. The girl group have since released remixes of both songs, with ‘Shooting Star’ getting a rework with Rico Nasty and the new version of ‘Left Right’ featuring  GOT7’s Jackson Wang and Ciara.

XG first debuted in March 2022 with the single ‘Tippy Toes’, and made a comeback later that year with the single ‘Mascara’. The group’s rappers then went viral on TikTok in late 2022 after the release their ‘GALZ XYPHER’ performance clip.

Back in June, XG members Hinata, Juria and Chisa released a new video in the girl group’s ‘XG VOX’ series, where they cover songs by other artists. There, the trio covered songs like TLC, , WOODZ, Utada Hikaru and more.

Subtronics and HOL! Push the Envelope on Raucous Collaboration, "MIND PLUCK"

Two of dubstep’s most creative minds have finally joined forces.

Subtronics and HOL! today unleashed “MIND PLUCK,” a devastating collaboration out via the former’s Cyclops Recordings imprint. 

It’s four and a half minutes of unbridled, city-leveling bass. Subtronics and HOL! have pushed the envelope with “MIND PLUCK,” taking both of their distinct sounds to the limit. The track is an absolute juggernaut, turbocharged with quirky synths, piercing snares and plenty of wonky ear candy.

Subtronics, who was named one of EDM.com‘s best music producers of 2020, has since risen to the upper echelon of bass music. In June, he revealed he’s recording his sophomore album. Meanwhile, HOL! is enjoying a meteoric in 2023, recently releasing a VIP of his breakout hit, “COUNTRY RIDDIM,” as well as the rip-roaring single “Poetic Pit.”

Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour truck driver speaks about “life-changing” bonuses


A truck driver who has worked on a number of Taylor Swift’s tours has spoken about the singer’s “life-changing” generosity.

Mike Scherkenbach, who runs concert transportation company Shomotion and is currently working on Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour, was one of many production crew members to receive bonuses of $100,000 (£77,000) each, as revealed earlier this week.

In total, Swift handed out over $55million (£43million) in bonuses to the crew for their efforts and commitment to the tour. Now, Scherkenbach has said in an interview with Rolling Stone that Swift’s generosity has affected her crew members in “life-changing” ways.

“She’s giving a sum of money that is life-changing for these people,” Scherkenbach said. “A lot of these drivers are not homeowners, and a lump sum like this gives you the ability to put a down payment on a home. That’s what makes me really happy. That generosity is a game changer for these people.”

He also spoke of the negative comments that have been circulating social media surrounding the bonuses: “The comments that I read that bother me the most are when they’re comparing [what she gives] to her net worth. That’s irrelevant. There are a lot of very wealthy people who choose not to share a dime of it. We work with all kinds of wealthy people, but this is not the norm.”

According to Scherkenbach, performers of Swift’s calibre and stature typically hand out $5,000 to $10,000 bonuses, which makes her generosity all the more impactful.

But besides the monetary bonuses, Scherkenbach also expressed his gratitude for Swift’s inclusion of her drivers’ names in her ‘Reputation’ documentary. “They did the documentary on the last tour, Reputation, for Netflix, and she listed my drivers in the credits,” he said. “To put the drivers’ names in the movie credits? That shows the character of a person.”

Following her US tour dates, Swift is set to head across the pond and around the world next year, playing shows in Europe, Asia and Australia. The UK and European leg of the tour kicks off in Paris on May 9 next year and wraps on August 17, 2024 in London.

Taylor Swift teases ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’


Taylor Swift‘s ‘Reputation’ could be receiving its ‘Taylor’s Version’ re-recording, according to a new ‘Delicate’ snippet.

‘Delicate (Taylor’s Version)’ appeared in the latest season of Amazon Prime Video‘s The Summer I Turned Pretty. While ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ has yet to officially be announced, the new snippet suggests the re-recording could well be its way.

The snippet’s inclusion in The Summer I Turned Pretty comes just after Taylor Swift unveiled more North American tour dates for her ongoing acclaimed ‘Eras’ tour. The newly announced dates will see Swift perform across Miami, New Orleans, Indiana, and Toronto between October and November 2024.

Taylor Swift most recently released ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ on July 7. The album, apart from rerecording of its original tracklist, also includes ‘Castles Crumbling’ with Hayley Williams and ‘Electric Touch’ with Fall Out Boy, and four other ‘From The Vault’ songs: ‘Foolish One’, ‘Timeless’, ‘When Emma Falls In Love’ and ‘I Can See You’.

Last month, it was revealed that with the release of ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’, Swift became the first woman in history to have four albums chart in the Billboard Top 10 at the same time. Besides having the most albums chart in the Top 10 at the same time, ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ also earned Swift her 12th Number 1 album, giving her the title for the most No. 1 albums by a female performer.

2017’s ‘Reputation’ scored a four-star review from NME‘s Jordan Bassett. Bassett wrote: “‘Reputation’ is a very different album to ‘1989’. While ‘Reputation’ packs heavy artillery that was almost entirely absent from ‘1989’, it’s actually a helluva ride. Is this a relatable record? If you’ve ever wanted to exact revenge on someone, the answer is yes.”

How AREA15 Is Changing the Fabric of Vegas Nightlife With the World's Most Immersive Adult Playground

They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But what if that owes not to your debauchery, but to the fact that you can’t quite put your experience into words?

That adage has always been more of a verbal hall pass for bad decisions, but now it’s being redefined by AREA15, the world’s most immersive adult playground.

Vegas is where wallets come to weep—but for what purpose? To be a sardine in a kitschy nightclub and hear three different DJs butcher Daft Punk? To experience the thrill of a dealer crushing your soul with a backdoor blackjack?

AREA15, however, is the ultra-rare Vegas house that doesn’t always win. Prestige ranks low on its list of priorities—though they have plenty of it—and pales in comparison to their selfless determination to cultivate an unforgettable experience.

“With so much overstimulation around the Internet, you lose yourself in the present moment. I think AREA15—from my perspective—brings people into the present moment through immersion,” Noah Kessler, AREA15’s Head of Entertainment, told EDM.com. “You’re here, and you’re here now. You forget about everything else you’re bombarded with all day, every day. And you can have a present moment to really enjoy what life is.”

The sensorial experience began as soon as we walked in, the phantasmagoric room opening up before our eyes. Perhaps most striking is the “Oddwood,” a bar situated under a giant, artificial Japanese maple tree adorned with thousands of pulsing LED lights.

Sin City has always been a butterfly effect of deception, and the word “immersive” is its latest red herring. After the pandemic-era explosion of livestreaming, the term was plugged ad nauseam by the entertainment industry’s many silver-tongued puppeteers. For that reason, their strings have since frayed and consumers are seeing through the makeup of their marionettes.

The Omega Mart, which took three years to build, is the epitome of immersive. There exists no experience that stacks up to this inconceivable installation, the brainchild of the unrivaled Meow Wolf.

The anchor tenant of AREA15, Omega Mart looks like an ordinary grocery store—but this is Meow Wolf we’re talking about here. Their tagline says it all: “You have no idea what’s in-store!”

Vegan Goat Pus, Aspirational Carrots, Mammoth Chunks, Leprechaun Kidneys and a Canned Romantic Dinner are just a few of the bizarre items you’ll find, and the level of detail on each is astounding. And nearly everything is actually for sale.

It gets much, much weirder. Hidden “portals” in the grocery store lead to its mind-bending underbelly, a giant labyrinth of trippy interactive art.

Here, time becomes irrelevant and you find yourself entangled in an iridescent matrix. There is a palpitating web of surrealist art behind every door.

Meow Wolf has embedded a serpentine storyverse in the Omega Mart, inviting you down the rabbit hole to uncover the secrets hidden by its fictitious parent corporation. That’s where the immersion comes in. We engaged with many of the installations, like when we encountered a poster for a missing woman and entered a nearby phone booth with a list of numbers on its interior wall. Calling those numbers led to eerie voicemails with clues about her disappearance.

That all merely scratches the surface. We could’ve easily spent hours in the Omega Mart.

Leaving Omega Mart doesn’t teleport you back to reality, however. It’s just one of AREA15’s countless illusory spaces, which function as blank canvases that constantly interchange and transform into new experiences, like concerts or projection-mapped visual shows.

The best way to describe AREA15 is as a living tapestry. It’s this adaptability that makes the venue the iconoclastic architect of Vegas’ nightlife future.

Jaded by a moth-eaten festival blueprint, today’s leading musicians crave innovation and many adopt a contrarian approach in their pursuit to connect with fans by virtue of their performances. Naturally, they’re racing to AREA15’s spaces like paper boats rushing down a rain-soaked street.

“I think artists are seeing AREA15 as another artist, not just another promoter or venue,” Kessler says. “So they’re starting to look at AREA15 as another artist that they can almost collaborate with. Like, ‘I want to go to AREA15 because of this special, quirky, wild, weird space, and I can curate my art within it.'”

Take, for instance, “The Portal,” a massive room cocooned by a customizable 360° wraparound LED wall. Here, renowned electronic music producer What So Not activated his Anomaly album by headlining a preternatural rave as his visuals mutated and morphed across the wall in real-time. Next up is trance icon Gareth Emery, who is poised for an exclusive residency in “The Portal.”

Just next door is the adjacent AREA15 “A-Lot,” an open-air concert space with festival-grade production capabilities. Despite its grandiose feel, Kessler says DJs can “come in, plug in and just rock it.”

CloZee, a rising superstar in the world of electronic music, is primed to bring her breathtaking “Microworlds” tour to the “A-Lot” later in 2023. She follows in the footsteps of Bonobo, deadmau5’s TESTPILOT, Zeds Dead and the viral “Shrek Rave,” among others.

Just like those artists are prioritizing new and unique nightlife experiences, so are consumers. In an ecosystem as cutthroat as Las Vegas, nightlife brands swirl and vanish like withered leaves in a winter storm. But the disruptive AREA15 has found solid ground, precisely because it’s not a nightclub.

According to the movies, luxury in Vegas comes in a handful of forms: a woman sauntering past the Bellagio fountains carrying a giant Chanel bag; a suited-up high-roller playing craps with a Rolex on one arm and a chesty blonde on the other; a group of frat bros showering each other with $1,000 bottles of Dom Pérignon at a table.

Deep pockets are rewarded but they’re usually in the silk-lined pants of the vapid. It’s an axiom that true hedonism is typically reserved for those sorts of people.

But AREA15 offers a different kind of indulgence, one whose gates aren’t blocked by guards with superficial dogmas. Immersed in the whimsy of AREA15, even the most introverted misfits feel at home—and thriving.

The scary part? AREA15 is expanding. They’re currently developing “District 2,” a gigantic space spearheaded by a gigantic tenant: Universal Studios. AREA15’s proprietors are also transforming the complex’s West Lot, Kessler says, into an “outdoor festival site” where up to 15,000 can rave together.

Shared experiences are Kessler’s love language. The nightlife vet, who also produces electronic music as SWAYLÓ, grew up in the enchanting Zuni Pueblo of New Mexico, where he says art “really is a way of life.” He then started designing music programs with community centers and incarcerated youth in Albuquerque, where he developed a series of off-the-wall events like breakdance battles and jam-skating sessions.

Eventually Kessler found himself at the Santa Fe-based Meow Wolf, with whom he cut his teeth organizing parties at the intersection of music and thematic art. He then spent five years at C3 Presents, one of the nation’s leading concert promoters, before returning to Meow Wolf for another four and ultimately landing at AREA15.

Kessler and his cohorts are now on pace to deliver roughly 250 shows this year, the majority of which are owned and operated by AREA15. They’re also co-producing events with Live Nation and electronic music titan Insomniac Events, as well as with local promotion powerhouses like RVLTN. They’re even in talks with major casinos for strategic collaborations, the promise of which represents a watershed moment for a brand who would otherwise be considered an interloper.

And therein lies AREA15’s X-factor. Kessler says the main ingredient of their winning formula is collaboration, rejecting the tired ideology that nightlife businesses must maul each other in the name of competition.

“We approach things very collaboratively. I think that’s the paradigm we live in,” Kessler explains. “It used to be competition… what we’re doing is really pioneering collaboration over competition. I feel like we’re unifying the market.”

The big vision, he adds, is to turn the AREA15 campus into a festival site where all of its properties are enkindled to ignite a cohesive latticework of branded experiences. For now, they’re establishing the building blocks with “Massives,” a series of psychedelic experiences they call “a hybrid between your typical concert and over-the-top festival experiences.” The next one is “Galactic Zoo,” which is scheduled for September 16th.

That brings us to the aliens. Unless you’ve been hibernating in a knowledge-proof cave, odds are you’ve heard about the impending invasion, so says every shamelessly fear-mongering media outlet on this planet.

A whistleblower named David Grusch, a former intelligence official, went public with claims that the U.S. federal government maintains a highly secretive UFO recovery program and is in possession of “non-human biologics” from alleged crash sites. Those revelations led to a Congress hearing wherein he and two other former military officers testified under oath that they believe the government knows much more about UFOs than what they’re telling the public.

It couldn’t have come at a better time for the team behind AREA15, who are developing bespoke experiences to summon the “aliens” to Galactic Zoo.

“It’s inherent to what we are… a spinoff of Area 51, which is sort of this highly classified military base where you don’t know what’s happening,” Kessler explains. “Are they cloning humans? Do they have aliens? Are they creating weapons? We don’t really know… but it’s always been part of our story, and continuing to weave it into the story and play with that kind of narrative is exciting to us.”

NewJeans prepared for Lollapalooza by watching Billie Eilish


NewJeans have told NME that they find inspiration for their performances by watching other artists, specifically Billie Eilish.

Chatting with NME after their Lollapalooza 2023 set, NewJeans – consisting of members Hyein, Danielle, Minji, Hanni and Haerin – explained that they all watched Eilish perform together in Brazil as a way to gain inspiration for their performance.

“We watched Billie Eilish all together in Brazil but we watched a lot of other artists and performers, especially at Lollapalooza because the scale is incredible and it’s our first time performing so we need to be ready,” shared Danielle.

After being asked about who their dream festival headliner would be, the group immediately said Eilish.

“Billie Eilish. We’ve watched a lot of her videos and got so much inspiration. We also love her energy and her songs,” said Minji.

NewJeans are set to play the famous Chicago music festival on it’s opening day (July 3), the same day that the ‘Happier Than Ever’ singer is set to headline.

The K-pop group released their latest EP ‘Get Up’ last month. In a five-star review of the EP, NME shared: “As first years go, NewJeans’ had been nothing short of a dream even before ‘Get Up’. Now, though, with six more flawless songs and yet more songwriting credits for Haerin and Danielle, they’re capping off their first 12 months and introducing the next round in divine style. Thanks to this mini-album, all eyes will continue to be on them and we couldn’t be more excited to see where they go next.”

In other news, New Jeans recently earned their first chart-topping album on the Billboard 200 with ‘Get Up’, besting the all-star Barbie soundtrack.

The quintet are the second K-pop girl group to do so, following BLACKPINK last September with ‘Born Pink’.

They also recently shared a performance of their new single ‘Cool With You’, accompanied by a live band.

The performance was in collaboration with K-pop YouTube series It’s Live. The members’ vocals remain true to the original, though its live instrumental is more upbeat.

Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival Will Not Take Place In 2024

Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival is taking a year off, Insomniac Events confirmed to EDM.com today.

The news arrives after festival watchdog Festive Owl took to social media this afternoon to reveal an impending hiatus for the Insomniac-owned camping fest. Citing Soundslinger, the event’s creator, they claimed Okeechobee is taking a “fallow year” in 2024.

Soundslinger is the proprietor of Sunshine Grove, the 800-acre home of Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival. While the scope of their involvement in the event’s future is unclear at the moment, they say they’re planning a return to its multi-genre musical roots.

“As owners and safekeepers of our beautiful land, Sunshine Grove, Soundslinger cares deeply about the community that it witnessed come together in those first few years of OMF from 2016 onwards,” the company said, per Festive Owl. “We are working hard to keep OMF close to its original roots in a big way and reignite the sparks. Those formative years were special to all of us. Hang tight and remember to always Be, Here, Now.”

Beloved for its eclectic lineups, Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival burst onto the scene in 2016, ultimately becoming a darling of the East Coast music festival landscape. Insomniac acquired the event in 2019.

A joint statement issued by Insomniac and Soundslinger at the time said the partnership “was cultivated from the values that each bestows, particularly, the commitment of creating fun, transformative and out-of-this-world experiences through music, immersive art and interactive experiences in the Florida community.”

Last year’s Okeechobee lineup featured headliners Rezz, Porter Robinson, Tame Impala, GRiZ and Megan Thee Stallion.

Travis Scott criticised for not crediting KayCyy for ‘Thank God’ feature


Travis Scott has received criticism for not crediting KayCyy as a featured artist on ‘Thank God’.

The song is taken from the rapper’s newest album ‘Utopia‘, which boasts an illustrious list of credited artists including Beyoncé, SZA, Kanye West and Daft Punk‘s Guy-Manuel. Also making appearances are Bon Iver, The Weeknd, Sampha, Drake, James Blake, Young Thug and many more.

However, KayCyy isn’t credited as a featured artist on ‘Thank God’ despite performing the song’s chorus, while it has also been reported that he wrote a sizeable amount of it.

It seems apparent KayCyy agrees with the criticism. When a fan tweeted “Why tf is KayCyy’s feature still hidden? He literally wrote a large part of it and sings the entire chorus [crying emoji],” the artist responded by saying: “Y’all keep sending me these messages… Y’all know what I do..! I’m not no background singer… fuck Trav!!!”

Scott was scheduled to unveil ‘Utopia’ at a show at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt last week, but it was cancelled two days beforehand due to “complex production issues”. Scott later said he still hoped to perform at the Pyramids at a later date. “They just need a bit a time to set lay on lands,” he explained.

Fans ended up going to the Pyramids and throwing their own party despite the gig’s cancellation. Footage circulating on social media shows fans rapping the lyrics to ‘No Bystanders’ from Scott’s 2018 album ‘Astroworld‘.

Scott went on to announce a new ‘Utopia’ show at Italy’s Circus Maximus, an entertainment stadium and public park in Rome that used to host chariot races. The show will take place on August 6.

Circus Maximus also happens to be the name of a track from ‘Utopia’ that features The Weeknd and Swae Lee, and is also the name of the album’s accompanying film.
