Robbie Williams wants to recruit Radiohead for cover of ‘It’s Raining Men’

Robbie Williams has said he wants to recruit Radiohead for a cover of ‘It’s Raining Men’.

  • READ MORE: Robbie Williams live at Mad Cool 2023: still the ultimate showman

The former Take That singer is keen to get Thom Yorke and co. to do the backing track for his own version of the 1983 Weather Girls hit.

He says he is yet to hear back from the band about the cover and may ask Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor instead.

He told The Sun‘s Bizarre column: “I want to do a cover of ‘It’s Raining Men’ but I want Radiohead to do a backing track for me.

“But they have not got back to me. I keep asking but nothing back. I dunno. I might ask Trent Reznor.”

His comments come ahead of his two forthcoming sold out shows at the Royal Estate of Sandringham later this month.

Meanwhile, Radiohead drummer Philip Selway recently said that the band will release new material “of some sort” in the “next couple of years”.

“We’re always talking about stuff. But in terms of an actual kind of collective project, beyond the ‘Kid A’ and ‘Amnesiac’ stuff that we’ve been doing [2021’s ‘Kid Amnesia’ reissue project and interactive exhibition], it’s kind of further down the line for us when that will happen. We’re talking about that, but at the moment everybody’s doing their own thing,” Selway told Prog Magazine [via MusicNews].

Elsewhere, Noah Yorke, the son of Thom Yorke, recently shared his new song ‘Cerebral Key’, taken from his forthcoming EP of the same name.

Body of Missing Man Found In Creek After Disappearing From Brooklyn Mirage: Report

The body of John Castic, a man who disappeared after a show at the Brooklyn Mirage over the weekend, has been found in a nearby creek, Fox News Digital reports.

Castic, a 27-year-old Goldman Sachs analyst who lived in Lower Manhattan, was reportedly last seen leaving the popular East Williamsburg concert venue around 2:30am Saturday, according to police. His body was spotted and retrieved from the waters of Newtown Creek by the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit early Tuesday.

Speaking with Patch, a friend of Castic’s said the man’s phone location “went dark” soon after he left the venue, but the device’s Find My tracking app placed him on the Metropolitan Avenue Bridge, his last known location, around 3:50am.

“They have found his body and confirmed it’s him,” his father, Jeffrey Castic, told Fox. “It appears to have been death by misadventure. His wallet and phone were found on him.”

Famed electronic music duo Zeds Dead, the headliner of the night’s show at the Brooklyn Mirage, took to social media to share a statement following the news of Castic’s death.

Castic’s death follows that of another man, Karl Clemente, who also disappeared from the grounds of the Brooklyn Mirage on June 11th. Clemente, 27, was reportedly denied entry to the venue before turning up dead five days later in Newtown Creek.

The investigation into Clemente’s death, which was not considered suspicious, is still ongoing, according to police.

Noel Gallagher says he’s not “cut out” to command concerts like Bono or Chris Martin

Noel Gallagher says he hasn’t got the same presence as U2 frontman Bono or Coldplay‘s Chris Martin, when he performs onstage.

Speaking in a new interview with Radio X, the former Oasis man said he was not “cut out” to command the stage like either singer.

“Some people are cut out for that kind of thing. Chris Martin for example, can do that thing with the crowd. Bono can do that thing with the crowd. I can’t. I’m not interested in it,” he said.

Gallagher went on to say that classic songs like ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ are actually bigger than him.

He continued: “That song’s bigger than me. That song will be around long after I’m gone. So those big songs like that and ‘Wonderwall’… I don’t feel like I have to be larger than life.

“I mean people are here to see me. They know who I am. They know what I’m like. And that’s what you pay for and that’s what you get.”

Despite that, he recently took aim at artists like Adele who’s songs he said are “shit” and regarding her discography he said he found the “whole thing offensive”.

He also recently took aim at The 1975 and, in particular, frontman Matty Healy. First branding him as a “slack-jawed fuckwit”, the Manchester singer-songwriter then revealed to NME that he considers the band to be both “shit” and “not rock”.

“Oasis’ influence, I think, was for people to fucking start a band in the first place,” he said. “I do meet loads of guys who say that and that’s great. There are a lot of them around, it’s just a pity guitar music has become marginalised. You’ve either got to be rock, or that fucking [The] 1975.”

“At the BRITs, The 1975 won Best Rock or some fucking shit… I was watching it with my kids, two teenage lads, thinking, ‘Is it me being a grumpy old man, or is this shit?’ They were both going, ‘Oh no, this is fucking shit’,” he added. “The 1975, Best Rock Band? Someone needs to re-define that immediately, because that is… I don’t know what that is, but it’s certainly not fucking rock. Whatever rock is, that’s not it.”

Marigold The Girl and Kellalit Join Forces for Fierce Collab, "American Psycho"

Marigold The Girl and Kellalit have a taste for revenge.

Inspired by the cult classic movie of the same name, their new collaboration, “American Psycho,” blazes with fiery intensity. With its audacious lyrical prowess and menacing beat, it’s a dual middle finger to men like Patrick Bateman. And just like the film’s brazen protagonist, Marigold The Girl and Kellalit embody an unyielding persona, spitting with an unfiltered bravado that sends chills to your toes.

The experimental track wastes no time, kicking off with an 808 that crunches like bones beneath a giant foot. Before long, their fangs drip as they trade unapologetic verses about being hellbent on revenge.

They even assembled a Dexter-inspired kill-room for the song’s artwork.

K-pop girl group Red Velvet have revealed plans to release their third studio album sometime this year.

Yesterday (August 1), Red Velvet held a livestream called ‘Ladies Night’ to commemorate their ninth anniversary as a group. During the event, the girl group revealed that they are working on their long-awaited third studio album, which they aim to release sometime this year.

“We are preparing our third full-length album,” member Yeri revealed near the end of the broadcast. “After this live, we have a meeting for our comeback. Our goal is to bring you the album [in] the second half of the year. Please wait for us. You will love this.”

Red Velvet’s upcoming release will be their first full-length album since 2017’s ‘Perfect Velvet’, which featured the lead single ‘Peek-a-Boo’. In between the studio album, the girl group have released seven mini-albums, the latest of which was November 2022’s ‘The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday’.

In addition to a full group album, Red Velvet member Wendy is also set to drop solo music this year. This is according to a previously released line-up of upcoming releases previewed by SM Entertainment in May.

In other Red Velvet news, Joy resumed her activities with the quintet in June following a short hiatus due to the “poor condition” of her health. The singer had been unable to join the girl group on the vast majority of their ‘R to V’ world tour, with her sole appearance outside of South Korea being at the Singapore stop.

Following consecutive sold-out installments, the program is making its anticipated return to Ibiza with an extended—and even more rewarding—event. Responding to overwhelming demand, a second week of Orbit DJ Retreats has been added onto this year’s edition in September, opening doors for more aspiring DJs to be part of the transformative experience, which teaches the ins and outs of the music industry while prioritizing mental health awareness.

c/o Orbit DJ Retreats

Taking place from September 24-29 and October 1-6, the retreat offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for budding artists to learn from industry pioneers on the White Isle.

Led by renowned DJ and producer Doorly, the lineup of mentors includes esteemed figures like house music mainstays Gorgon City, Junior Sanchez, Sam Divine and Shadow Child; Drumcode talent Juliet Fox; Ableton, Logic and Native Instruments tutor Devon James; Data Transmission founder Grahame Farmer and many more. Each will share invaluable insight covering DJ performance, production, marketing, branding and career development.

“After the last couple of sold-out retreats, the Orbit team and I have been over the moon with the response from our students and the success stories that we’re already having with our alumni,” said Doorly. “Some have signed to their favorite record labels and played their dream gigs. Orbit mentors even signed a few to their labels, from Gorgon City’s REALM to W&O Street tracks, Damian Lazarus Crosstown Rebellion and also my own label Reptile Dysfunction, which was a nice bonus. To find such exceptional un-tapped talent like this is an extraordinary thing. Watching their success invigorates Orbit mentors, and that’s what this is all about!”

The 1975 announce 10th anniversary reissues and merch bundles for self-titled debut album

The 1975 have announced that their self-titled debut album will be reissued on vinyl for its 10th anniversary, as well as confirming the sale of accompanying merch bundles.

The new formats will be available to purchase from September 1, alongside a range of new and classic merch.

The band’s debut album will be available on various new limited edition formats, including a 4LP deluxe vinyl release containing ‘The 1975′ plus their early EPs ‘Facedown’, ‘Sex’, ‘Music For Cars’ and ‘IV’ EP, plus a solid white vinyl release in gatefold sleeve, a limited edition white cassette and 2CD set containing the original album and a live album of ‘The 1975’ played in full at Gorilla in Manchester, at a show earlier this year.

Released on September 1, 2013, The 1975’s self-titled album featured songs including ‘Chocolate’, ‘Sex’, ‘Girls’ and ‘Robbers’ and topped the charts on its release.

The band will be performing the album in full when they headline Reading and Leeds later this month. They were drafted in to replace Lewis Capaldi, who announced that he would be taking a break from all live performances for the time being following his Glastonbury showcase to focus on his mental and physical health.

The 1975 notably also headlined last year’s iconic twin-site festival alongside Arctic Monkeys, Megan Thee Stallion, Dave, Bring Me The Horizon and Halsey, having been drafted in to replace Rage Against The Machine.

The band’s frontman Matty Healy recently joined American filmmaker Caveh Zahedi in his latest episode of Getting Stoned With…, in which the singer learns who the Mountain Goats are while high.

“Have you read John Darnielle’s novels?” Zahedi asked. Healy responded by shaking his head no with the filmmaker saying: “The guy from the Mountain Goats … You don’t know the Mountain Goats?”

“I’ve never heard them. Are they a big band?,” Healy asked, proceeding to ask the crew if they’ve heard of the Mountain Goats.
