Descendents have cancelled a European tour after frontman Milo Aukerman suffered a “mild heart attack”.
The legendary Californian punk band were set to hit the road this year for a series of dates, but they have now been cancelled in order for the frontman to rest and recover.
“We are truly sorry, but we have to cancel the upcoming European shows,” the band told fans in a statement.
“Our singer, Milo, had a mild heart attack last night. He’s doing fine, and is expected to make a full recovery from surgery, but will need a few weeks to recover before we can hit the road again.”
In 2021, Descendents released their first studio album in five years, ‘9th & Walnut’. The unique project was primarily recorded in 2002, and features the classic line-up of the band – guitarist Frank Navetta, bassist Tony Lombardo and drummer Bill Stevenson.
The sessions were among the last Navetta recorded prior to his passing in 2008, while Aukerman recorded his vocals from his home in Delaware.
The album includes some of Descendents’ earliest-written material, from their formation in 1977 up to 1980. The title of the album alludes to the intersection in Long Beach on which the band’s original rehearsal space could be found.
‘9th & Walnut’ follows on from 2016’s ‘Hypercaffium Spazzinate’, which was the band’s first new album in 12 years. It featured Stevenson, Aukerman, guitarist Stephen Egerton and bassist Karl Alvarez – which has been the band’s lineup for every album since 1986.
One of the hottest and most unique new talents to emerge out of Jamaica’s fertile music scene, vocalist/songwriter Marcilli (they/them) fuses dance music, R&B and Latin pop into an irresistible brew on their new single, the defiantly incendiary ‘Done (Breakup Anthem)’. Inspired by the edgier bits of Billie Elish, Rihanna, Suga of BTS and R&B icon Daniel Caesar, Marcilli is one of the first and few openly queer-identified Jamaican artists, coming out of a strict cultural heritage that often remains hostile to members of the LGBTQ community.
Marcilli shared their thoughts on the release: “writing this song was born out of some serious heartbreak and disappointment, but seeing it evolve into the project it is today, gives me such a boost of encouragement. Honestly, it’s one of the things I’m most proud of so far, and I really hope it can inspire others to set their own boundaries and know their damn worth.”
Boldly blazing trails, bucking trends and declaring their independence from heartbreak, Marcilli is pointedly releasing their single right before Jamaican Independence Day, the most important holiday on the island nation, ready to open doors and set an example for future generations of artists who want to freely express themselves.
Co-written by ace producer Alexx Antaeus, who has previously worked with The Rolling Stones, Earth Wind and Fire and Julian Marley, ‘Done (Breakup Anthem)’ also features a Spanish-language vocal turn from New York-based Puerto Rican act Natalis, who has sung on platinum-selling tracks by J Cole, Kanye West and Popcaan.
Haim dressed up as the step-sisters from Taylor Swift‘s ‘Bejeweled’ to perform ‘No Body, No Crime’ with her in California this weekend.

The video for the ‘Midnights’ track guest starred Haim as a trio of step-sisters, who wore gowns that they also sported on stage in Santa Clara, California on Friday night (July 28).
“hi from the step sisters!” they wrote on Instagram, with footage and photos showing them playing the ‘Evermore’ murder ballad while in full dress.
It comes after Swift and Haim gave a live debut to ‘No Body, No Crime’ at the first ‘Eras’ Tour show in Seattle last weekend (July 22). Haim are supporting Swift on the latest leg of her North American stadium tour and have been joining her for the 2020 song during the ‘Evermore’ segment of the set.
Elsewhere in Santa Clara, Aaron Dessner joined Swift on night one to give a live debut to ‘Evermore’ bonus track ‘Right Where You Left Me’, while night two saw her play ‘Red’ track ‘Stay Stay Stay’ for the first time in a decade and give a live debut to ‘All Of The Girls You Loved Before’.

The singer’s huge stadium tour hit the city’s Lumen Field venue for two nights last weekend (July 22-23), and seismologist Jackie Caplan-Auerbach told CNN that data collected over the shows showed seismic activity of a huge scale.
Caplan-Auerbach told the outlet that “the shaking was twice as strong” as an event known as ‘Beast Quake’, which occurred in 2011 when Seattle Seahawks fans celebrated a touchdown at an NFL game.
“The primary difference is the duration of shaking,” she added. “Cheering after a touchdown lasts for a couple seconds, but eventually it dies down. It’s much more random than a concert.
“For Taylor Swift, I collected about 10 hours of data where rhythm controlled the behaviour. The music, the speakers, the beat. All that energy can drive into the ground and shake it.”
A fan at the shows was also quoted saying: “You could literally feel the ground shaking beneath your feet.”

The acclaimed Norwegian artist Alan Walker is back with a brand-new single, “Endless Summer.” The single, a collaboration with British singer-songwriter Zak Abel, emerges just as summer reaches its peak. The blissful dance-pop melody perfectly encapsulates the joyful, carefree spirit of the season.
The song commences with earthy tunes transitioning into a harmonious chorus marked by a rhythmic bassline and subtle percussion, underpinned by an optimistic and uplifting message.
“Endless Summer” joins an impressive list of hits, following on the heels of Walker’s earlier single this year, “Dreamer,” as well as the more recent “Hero,” featuring Sasha Alex Sloan. Pulp paid tribute to their late bassist Steve Mackey last night (Friday July 28), by inviting his son and Marley of Warmduscher on stage at their Hammersmith Eventim Apollo show. Check out footage, photos and the show’s setlist below.
The Sheffield indie icons announced the two Apollo gigs back in May as relatively last minute and intimate additions to their ongoing reunion tour, which saw them headline London’s Finsbury Park and Latitude Festival earlier this month – as well as two homecoming gigs in Sheffield, joined by former live guitarist Richard Hawley at the latter.
As they have been at all concerts on the run, the band dedicated the 1996 ‘Different Class’ single ‘Something Changed’ to their late bassist Mackey – who died back in March.
Introducing the song and highlighting a film played in his memory earlier on the evening, frontman Jarvis Cocker brought out a small booklet that was handed out at Mackey’s memorial service that he said had “been in my guitar case ever since” and noted that the reunion tour had become somewhat of a “tribute” to their late bandmate.
He also pointed out that Mackey’s wife and son were in attendance, with the latter – Marley Mackey of Warmduscher – joining the band on stage later in the evening to lend guitar duties to close the first encore with ‘Common People’.
Elsewhere, Cocker commented on how he’d been to many shows at the Apollo – including Kate Bush and Iggy & The Stooges – but had always longed to perform here.
Other highlights of the set came from early outings of classic singles ‘Disco 2000’ and ‘Mis-Shapes’, the frontman donning pink gloves thrown at him from the crowd for fan favourite ‘Pink Glove’, their reunion single ‘After You’, the crowd singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to drummer Nick Banks, and the recently live debuted Cocker solo track ‘Hymn Of The North‘.
Cocker also introduced the first encore under a spotlight with the following reading, written by the frontman back when first moved to London after college, after successfully catching a grape in his mouth:
“It’s summer, and each breath is like inhaling thick, heavy syrup, You spend acrylic afternoons in the damp green behind dusty garages with dead cats hidden in the undergrowth on waste ground, Throw stones into the river by abandoned railway viaducts, Watch girls in tops carry bags full of warm lager to housing estate parties that start while it’s still light, Smoke hollow twigs, Camp out with a friend in the back garden. I’m glad that you made it here tonight, I’m glad that we’re here together, Because tonight we’re going to go all the way.”
He followed up with: “Now that was written 30 years ago. Are we going to go the whole way?”

In other news, the band’s drummer Nick Banks recently announced details of his new memoir, So It Started There: From Punk To Pulp. Arriving on September 28, the book is set to tell the world the story of his life and career.
House music fans everywhere will soon surrender to the rhythms of John Summit and Dom Dolla.
Two of the genre’s modern-day superstars, Dolla and Summit have revealed a brand-new event series, Everything Always. The joint venture follows a handful of high-profile collaborative DJ sets from the two, perhaps most notably at Detroit’s fabled Movement festival in late May.
Details about Everything Always are under wraps at the moment, but fans of Dolla and Summit can register for updates here and follow the brand’s Instagram. They have not yet announced any shows, but fans are safe to expect a tour on the horizon.

The news arrives in the wake of a contentious legal dispute between Summit’s record label, Off the Grid, and a promoter who had been using the name for their electronic music events since 2015. After blasting Off The Grid Campout on Twitter and claiming they’d “sued” him over the trademark, controversy erupted as Summit’s fans attacked the organization, who claimed there was “never a lawsuit.”
Summit, who ultimately deleted his initial tweets, went on to publicly apologize and announce an impending rebrand of Off the Grid Records.
“about the label name, i acted out of emotion and truly apologize for all the drama i stirred up in taking it to social media,” he tweeted. “i’ve been talking w the OTG campout team and apologized to them directly but i also wanted to do so publicly. they’ve agreed to stop pursuing legal action & my team and i are working on a rebrand.”

Joni Mitchell has released a live album of her 2022 comeback gig at the Newport Folk Festival – listen to it in full below.
Last July, Mitchell performed a surprise set at the legendary music festival – which she last appeared at in 1969 – delivering a 13-song “JONI JAM” set that featured Brandi Carlile on the tracks ‘Carey’, ‘A Case Of You’ and ‘Big Yellow Taxi’.
The new live album, titled ‘At Newport: Featuring the Joni Jam’, is out now, on the same weekend that the Newport Folk Festival returns.
During the show, she played a host of classics from across her career, including a version of ‘A Case Of You’ with Brandi Carlile and Marcus Mumford.

Earlier this summer, Joni Mitchell played her first full headline show in over 20 years at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington state.
At the show, like the Newport performance, Mitchell played with Carlile and a group of collaborators including Marcus Mumford, delivering a 24-song set of tracks from across her career and a few covers.
Opening with ‘Big Yellow Taxi’, she then played favourites from her iconic LP ‘Blue’ including ‘A Case Of You’, ‘Carey’, as well as a cover of George Gershwin’s ‘Summertime’ and more.
