PreSonus has released the Atom SQ MIDI controller. This unique controller features a staggered 32-pad layout with pressure-sensitive, poly aftertouch and backlit RGB LED pads.

Atom SQ contains a built-in arpeggiator and user-configurable touch strip to provide expressive control. Advanced features let you change the keyboard scale and map the eight assignable rotary encoders to control almost any parameter. An LCD screen displays context-sensitive information and uses a dynamic button system that changes function depending on the task at hand.

Of course the Atom SQ has deep integration with the Studio One’s Pattern Editor, which allows the controller to function like a Roland TR-style 16-step sequencer, in addition to playing your favorite virtual instruments. Navigate much of Studio One without a mouse and keyboard using transport controls, a dedicated Click toggle, timeline zoom in/out, and track navigation. Create evolving step sequences that will bring your productions to life. Insert a Pattern, change its length, add new variations, and change scales. Select and edit notes individually, and even copy, paste, duplicate, and delete events, all using tactile controls. You’ll build compositions faster than ever before. Studio One 5 Artist is included and now features full ReWire, VST/AU, and Studio One Remote support.

» Constraint to scale prevents you from playing a wrong note
» Selectable pad velocity curves and pressure thresholds customize the pads’ response for maximum expression
» MIDI keyboard, note repeat, and full velocity modes
» Set looping points, navigate the timeline, zoom in/out on the timeline or events, and edit/quantize MIDI events
» Tight integration with Studio One DAW software
» Automatically detected by Studio One, so no setup is required
» Ableton Live integration
» Also works with other DAWs via USB-MIDI
» USB 2.0 bus-powered design
» Includes Studio One Artist, Ableton Live Lite, and a 5′ USB cable

PreSonus claims Ableton Live “really comes alive with ATOM SQ.” Launch clips and scenes in Ableton Live during a performance, select devices and edit parameters, navigate tracks and scenes, and control each track’s volume, panning, and send levels. Do all your drum programming in Ableton Live, too. Ableton Live Lite is included with ATOM SQ.

PreSonus’ Atom SQ is available now for $324.95.
