Skunk Anansie speak legacy and “ushering in a brand new technology of Black music”

Skunk Anansie have spoken to NME about their 25 12 months profession and “ushering in a brand new technology of Black music”. Watch our full video interview with the band above.
The rock legends have been speaking to NME on the purple carpet of final week’s MOBO Awards, the place they have been nominated for the newly-introduced Finest Different Music Act – however misplaced out to punk duo Bob Vylan.
Talking of their first-time MOBO nomination, the four-piece – consisting of lead singer Pores and skin, bassist Cass Lewis, guitarist Ace, and drummer Matt Richardson – informed us “good issues come to those that wait”.
Talking of their fellow nominees Large Joanie, Child Bookie, Nova Twins, Detest, and Bob Vylan, Pores and skin mentioned that “at first, you need to get everybody, and we really feel like we’re ushering in a brand new technology of Black music on the MOBOs, after which we’re going to depart it to the youngsters.”
Requested if the nomination felt like proof of the rock icons’ continued relevance, Pores and skin replied: “That’s the purpose, isn’t it? The purpose is to have a long-term profession. I feel now individuals have careers which can be so quick: music needs to be a long-term profession”.

Lewis added: “It’s not one thing we take without any consideration. We’re blessed and appreciated it”.
This 12 months’s MOBO Awards have been held within the OVO Wembley Enviornment and noticed the likes of Beenie Man, Eliza Rose and Tion Wayne all carry out, while Craig David and Neil Rodgers received the distinguished profession achievement awards. David received the Excellent Contribution Award, and Rodgers received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
