After uniting under The Brothers Macklovitch umbrella in late May for the identity-instituting single “Give Love To Get Some,” A-Trak and Dave 1 have spent their time selectively cultivating their fledging catalog. To date, the familial production pair’s niche carving has yielded four releases: their May debut, September follow-up, “I Can Call You,” January spin on Raphael Saadiq’s “So Ready,” and most recently, an official remix of SG Lewis‘ “Feed The Fire.”
The Brothers Macklovitch’s deliberate, meticulous tactics extend to their revision of the times favorite, which manifests as A-Trak and Dave 1’s sophomore rework under the banner. An adroitly executed alteration that elegantly strips the dancier character of Lewis’ original, The Brothers Macklovitch version refurbishes it with a slinkier, lounge-suited ambiance. Horns add texture and a touch of class to a take that effortlessly clears a hurdle faced by all remixes: tastefully expanding the original without sacrificing any of its power.
